He inherited an absolute shambles. Even we go down, we should stick with him.
But will he want to stick with us?

Davidson brought in journey men, who after the honeymoon period have been poor.
Bannon & Tizzard are simply not good enough….Wilson thinks he is Franco Baresi with the long floaty balls.
Get Charlie Fox back in there and get Thomson back into midfield
Would Fox be going in there to ensure we stopped with the long floaty balls? As I’m sure for much of last season, Fox was primary long floaty ball provider.

We will embark on a mad winning streak, finishing 4th (on goal difference) with a last day thumping win over Airdrie.
High on momentum, we fly through the play-offs becoming the first 4th place team to win promotion to the big league!

Wake up CathcartSkins, you’re late for work….

Who conducts the pre-match interviews with the Manager? Was nice to see them both chatting on camera and seems to have struck a good rapport with CD already.

Going for a 4-4 humdinger tonight.

What a difference a year makes. This week, last year, we beat PT to go top, and then Cove away (Murray ️ ️ ️ ️) to complete 6 wins in a row and score 23 goals across those games.

For no other reason than giving the ‘new manager bounce’ an inflated value, I predict we will win 4-2 today.

Even though that's not a nice thing to say to a person you don't know, that still makes you a nicer person than Robin Veldman.
The only thing more depressing than our league form for me, is your constant bashing of RV on here
You are of course entitled to your opinion on him, the club and results etc, but I’d say this whole community is now acutely aware that you do not like him and that you want him out.
I only ask - do we have to read about your feelings on RV this much?

Yup. Bold prediction which I may regret: Spiders to get 10 out of 15 points in December.
D’you know, I read this and instantly thought that it was crazy. However, after double checking the fixtures. I’m with you on this. Seen enough in recent games to suggest a corner could be turned.

Academy boys Lewis Reid and Alex Bannon have been our best pairing over the last month. The build up is so much better and creates more chances from the fullbacks.
They will get better and better, although with Fox one of the big names and Tizzard a loanee signing they will end up playing more than most.
Tizzard is not a loanee. He’s our player.

This…but also if you watch the first Raith goal its both Robson and Fox who don’t defend well that leads to that too.
I even wonder if the substitutions are an easy target. Had Veldman kept McPherson and Dom Thomas on the pitch and the same result happens then he’d have been lambasted for not managing the game properly aswell.
RV is of course ultimately responsible for the game management, but if we are looking objectively 2 of the 3 goals are down to poor defensive play by Robson and Fox, who played the full 90.
Its all about opinions though!
I completely agree, and felt that regarding the first goal too. It was all too easy up against Robson and Fox. Neither of which have had anything near a good spell since our fall off a cliff 9-10 months ago.

Robson and Fox really should have dealt with the cross for Raith’s second goal. Defensively poor, neither takes responsibility to mark the player. Header far too easy for them.

In all seriousness however, I count at least three games where bizzare substitutions and poor game management have cost us points.
Whilst RV is accountable for tactics, game plans, subs etc. Isn’t a large part of game management down to the players on the pitch? RV isn’t a puppeteer, the bottom line is that 11 players on the pitch let a lead slip today. And whilst there were kids on the park at the time, Robson, Ferrie and Fox were all a key part of our team that fell of cliff during the business part of last season, and were also on the pitch from the moment we took the lead, until the final whistle.
Now, I’m not for one minute saying that those 3 should have stopped us losing, but they are some of the experienced members of this team. I’d say that from a game management pov, I’m looking to those players to activate and help/support/guide the young team through those final 10 minutes.

Did Veldman write this?
In all seriousness however, I count at least three games where bizzare substitutions and poor game management have cost us points. There’s a clear indication that he hasn’t learnt from his previous mistakes and that he’s throwing the players (perhaps rightly and wrongly) under the bus instead.
Inverness will turn their slump around. Morton know how to grind a result out. Arbroath have just recently come out of a better spell of form. If Veldman is allowed to continue into January, you might as well start booking your train tickets to Cove, Alloa and Montrose for August.
Yes, I am Robin Veldman.

I’m aware my opinion here is going to place me in the minority. But, I do feel that Veldman needs to be allowed to mould and shape this team to his design, and by this I mean, I think he deserves more time. I think he buys into to MB’s QPFC vision, however whilst I believe that to be the case, I feel it’s also likely that he does not accept that this current squad is enough, to compete.
His chopping and changing does appear a bit erratic, but I also feel that his selection is struggling from players blowing hot and cold too often. If Reid was fully fit, I’m confident he’d have started today and his selection would be hugely merited. I know we didn’t win with Reid/Bannon at the back, the past few weeks, but we did, in my opinion, look more comfortable on the ball and showed signs of the tactical plan working (from a build-up/style pov).
I’d like to see what happens in January and see if RV can (is allowed to) strengthen this squad. If not, then it’s likely he’ll go - I accept that. MB’s future also plays a big role in RV’s.
Regarding the integrating of younger players, it’s hard to find the balance in a squad that appears to lack genuine leadership. I have my doubts about Dom’s temperament to captain the side and learning that Charlie is part of the captain group doesn’t inspire me. I felt again today that Bannon plays like the CB who is more experienced, when paired with Fox.
It is true today that the subs on the right hand side of the pitch had an impact on the final result - however, the onus is on the whole team to be smarter when defending a lead. In my opinion we didn’t control the final 10 well at all. A moment where Jack Turner tried to play a super quick, first time throughball springs to mind. As I feel that whilst adding a third goal would have been great, keeping the ball for a bit longer in each passage of play, frustrates the opposition. And ultimately, you can’t concede if you have the ball in your possession.

Noise & laughter coming from behind the stand inside the directors boxes during the minute’s silence.
The whisky festival was where the noise was coming from. It was taking place behind us in the suites.
I know our ‘directors’ aren’t the best, but they are likely old traditionalists, and I highly doubt they wouldn’t respect it. I’m almost certain it was the festival, I’ve been myself a few times and know it’s a loud afternoon.

What has happened to the good old game of football, eh? I was disgusted at QP’s own hospitality prices for the recent Scotland games… but these domes and their prices are beyond a joke.
I think the game of football will actually end up getting in the way of the profitable business venture ideas that owners of clubs and stadia have.

Didn’t go to the game, but seeing the progress of Ayr’s new stand, via the highlights got me wondering.
Will Ayr have a redeveloped Somerset Park, before we see any development in North or South ends at Lesser?

Have just listened to his post match interview....I could listen to him all day long; honest & down to earth. Think he'd do well on a podcast!
From his first ever pre-season post match interview, I was hooked. He speaks freely and honestly and seems to be enjoying his time with us so far.
