  1. The Chairman's bye bye statement is appalling. It should have started with a heartfelt apology and ended with I am leaving the Boardroom completely. How on earth he is being allowed to remain on the Board after such a shocking tenure, which included to name but two  instances.....caused us to miss out on a title and almost saw us in a play off with a village team for survival.

Good luck to Allan who indeed has come in with masses of know-how and energy and saved the club from the embarrassment of the play off....but if he retains the very Board which has underperformed for so long.....he's got a job on his hands, that's for sure.

Contracted for another year but I think there’s almost no chance he’ll be in Davidson’s plans for the upcoming season. A disappointing spell at Cove first half of the season and played almost no minutes when we recalled him. Think he needs a move to league 2 and Clyde would be a good choice imo

There’s a decent player there and held his own up top at points under Owen Coyle’s tenure but at this point in his career, he’s not championship quality which is no slight considering the jump from Cambuslang to Championship

    Cheers, thanks

Henderson is an East Coast boy and I very much doubt we could tempt him, same applies to Goss/the Borders. I wouldn’t be keen on Carrick, he looked absolutely finished in L1 this season.

Surely absolutely no chance we get Ruth but as has been said, stranger things have happened. We don’t know much about the finances or the project that’s being sold and it may appeal to him.

Similar to Allan, perhaps going for a league title for decent money sounds better to him than dossing around the lower end of FT football and potentially not playing.

Serious efforts have been made in the past to get Blair Henderson.......as you say - an East coast boy....we have little chance of tempting him across.

What's happened to the Fernhill lad who went from Cambuslang to QP? Prolofic scorer for C'lang. Scott Williamson?

I really have a lot of time for Danny Lennon despite staying with us well after his time was clearly up ( this is on the board not him).

His recruitment of players was absolutely atrocious at times make no mistake about it and this will always be his downfall in my opinion. I feel he is absolutely at a point in his career where he would make a really really good assistant manager for someone especially a new/young coach higher up the pyramid. As has been stated above he had a recruitment team to work with but refused to take on players that they would recommend to him and adamant he could find his own players which really hurt him I feel. He brought in some really good players in his time- Rankin, Lang, Grant, McStay but when they left he just couldn’t replace them and also brought in countless duds, some of which would probably feature in an all time worst Clyde team of the past 25 years.

We should have won the league the season we got promoted ( and maybe would have if it wasn’t for the Fitzpatrick mistakes). That season and team are and enjoyable a time as iv had supporting Clyde. We played nice stuff, things were looking good off the park there was a real feel good factor. The bubble really burst shortly after that. We never kicked on in league 1 and there’s a few reasons for that probably the most of which was we allegedly had 1/3 of our playing budget in him, Goodwillie and Mitchell then picking up a squad with the leftovers. He also was a very very loyal guy and kept players on well after they should have- Nicoll, Rumsby, Mcniff- who just weren’t cut out for league 1 which just didn’t help things.

He done a very interesting interview on a state of mind podcast which I feel sums up his management when he was with Clyde which was very  “kids today”. He spoke about the usual stuff in that genre like bringing back national service and how kids would rather text than phone and how that annoyed him. The most telling part was when he spoke about how players should be happy to play and he doesn’t like when he says that a boy is playing at right back and he says “ I’m not a right back”. That summed it all up, just guys being played out of position but putting in as hard a shift as they could. Really felt that in his recruitment also where he would sign guys who who had a good attitude and would work hard that he would try and mold rather than guys with the ability and experience to take us to where we need to be.

I know all this makes him sound really negative but I can’t emphasise enough how much I really really enjoyed the majority of his time at the club he just hung about too long, the games were fun under him especially against Falkirk in league 1. I think he would do a decent job at Stirling, he would certainly unite the fans which is what you need after a relegation and among back room nonsense.

Danny had nothing to do with bringing in Rankin, Lang, Mcstay and Grant.

Not sure if we ever managed to get that exact 11 on the park but what a team btw!

That was a great team....very few of which Danny recruited.

Anyone donating any sum above a couple of thousand would be the likes of which we have never seen before.

With regard to his identity and the size of his donation - really none of my business if he is not trying to unduly influence the direction and strategy of the club to its detriment. I would prefer to thank him for his timely and positive contribution.

Conspiracy theories are just boring after a while.

If anyone has thoughts on any situation that significantly and materially differs from the Board, then they know what to do about it.

They all should reflect on what they could have done better in the past few years - if they can't see or think of anything, then perhaps they should consider if they are best positioned to revitalise our performance as a club and look for another role within the club, because volunteers are always required somewhere.

Nonsense, I’ve  personally ruined your theory and have you forgotten Caplin? Are you not aware of previous chairmen having put substantial amounts of their own money in to keep things going and not forgetting a current Director who has contributed financially-to make the statement you have is wholly wrong.

I'm no expert but I'm sure Clyde would be a tempting vacancy for any aspirating manager looking to enhance their CV.

Were currently second bottom of League Two. The only way is up.

Let's hope they are more aspiring than aspirating

  8. I would hope that already the decision on McCall staying has been reached and by that I mean I hope the budget to build a squad to win the league next year will have been set and his work starts immediately on his return from honeymoon. Some of the current squad are just that, squad players. New faces are required on 2 year deals to see us out of League 2 and challenging for promotion out of League 1 the following season. This season to season player recruitment has to stop and we need players to buy into the journey. After all, do we not have a benefactor providing money "the likes of which we have not seen before"?

This should allow for further ahead forward planning and I think this is what McCall will buy into, if his words in the PM interview in Elgin are any sort of measuring stick.

He basically said the Club is a mess, changes required all over the place....from Board to training and lots in between I should imagine. If he "shakes hands and leaves" I think questions will need to asked and quickly, as to why he left. Of course, if he does leave, the Club will spin the story to make them look blameless.....but already, if any of you have seen comms on the owners forum...the board seem a little rattled at the questioning of the Benefactor. Two directors engaging with owners who have had the cheek to question the benefactor and the sums of money involved and the fact he still requests anonymity.

We are instructed to be respectful and polite when referring to the benefactor, we are chastised and warned about conspiracy theories and threatened with posts being removed and even with being banned from the forum, or worse, refused being an owner, (how democratic is that?) just because as owners/fans we wish to discuss our thoughts on the situation at the Club and they don't align with the Board.

    Fans owned Club? Utter tosh!

Wishing Allan Maitland all the very best.....I think he's got a tough time ahead if the Board as it is now,  the Board which took us into this fight for survival with ludicrous decisions over the past few years, does not self analyse and have the decency to realise they have systematically failed in their duties, and resign en masse.

    An interesting summer ahead methinks.

His dad certainly is/was a Clyde fan. I remember it being an article on the website before we played them in the 2008 pre-season. A match which also featured one of the best saves I’ve seen live from Peter Cherrie!

His dad is still an owner

I'd like him to stay but if he wanted to go then fair enough. He did what he was asked to with us, he has deep ties to QotS and they're a total mess at the moment. His comments post Elgin suggest we'd have to really push the boat out to keep him and may give him and the board a convenient/amicable excuse to part ways.

Just as long as the decision, either way, is taken quickly. We can't allow ourselves to fall way behind the pack for recruitment like we do every single summer.

You're forgetting we now have a proper football man as Chairman.

Sorry but Lyons should be let go or a bench warmer if we are going to have ambitions of going up next year. The standard for Lyons (who granted played well up in Elgin) is he gets praised if he doesn't f**k it and cost us a goal that's not the standard you need if you are going to get out the division.

Shite like C.Scullion, Parry and that wage stealer Cameron need binned so far to f**k

    Articulately expressed.

For the first time in a while, we have a Chair, a manager and a backroom staff with superb football knowledge. After all, they cleared 12 out of the squad those two idiots McClean and Duffy assembled and built a team that  won the second half of the season. Probs best to leave it to the professionals.

Least enjoyable season of my lifetime over. Thank god.

Get it up you Jimmy Choo and all your burners.

Such a relief to have survived and now the hard work for Allan Maitland begins. Your crowing over what JC has been saying and predicting all season is misplaced.

He was a lot more accurate than most....survived by 2 points in the worst league 2 for many a season......while most sat back silently whilst the inept Board appointed a house brick as manager and a failed manager as sporting director......Allan Maitland and his input is what stopped us going out the cup to 2 pub teams and being confirmed as 10th in League by February....JC was not far wrong and although everyone should be mightily relieved...it's nothing to celebrate until we see Maitland empty that Boardroom and build a squad capable of winning league 2.....after all, we have the money man now.

The Alexander years are over, he failed...he took us back to 8 years ago.....and don't think for one minute just because he's not officially been on the Board he's not been controlling things.

The new side since January, if you started the league again, despite a few poor results, won the second half of the season...that's how utterly dreadful the start was down to Thomson's ludicrous decision making.

And once again, this account is NOT a burner of JC's.
