I seem to remember our whole team, substitutes, coaching & management staff getting booed along with horrific personal abuse aimed at certain individuals at half time when the team were using temporary changing at away end at Fir Park post Covid.

Usually a collective “team boo” happens at half time or full time if there is a particular abject poor performance which as long as it’s not vindictive or abusive can be a way to express disappointment.

That day at Fir Park was particularly unpleasant for all concerned.

To say players don’t get booed or abused is certainly not true.

There have been all manner of incidents involving individual players and supporters down the years.
At one stage Tam Turner was disciplined and shipped out the club to QotS after TT “remonstrated” with an individual in the enclosure. I don’t think he would have reacted had someone not actually abused him.
Thankfully we (Hendrie IIRC) brought him back and the rest is history.

Saw TT the other day in Johnstone. Still looks as fit as the day he stopped playing.

Players don’t individually get boo’d when on the pitch or anywhere else. Why would folk boo them as if they were a pantomime villain ? It doesn’t happen.

Abuse? Yes. Absolutely. Players get abused all the time. McAusland being the worst in recent memory. The stuff he received on a weekly basis was horrific.

  2. Thought the latest BBC Scotland podcast with @Div on it was great. The Mark O'Hara for Scotland shout from Liam was great comedy.

However, thought our glorious leader stopped a bit short when asked on his initial thoughts on the Robbo appointment last year.... I seem to remember he was leading the slaughtering of the man and proclaiming we were heading straight down to the Championship under Stubbs v2.0!! 😄

So 371 professional appearances, a cup winner who is not only an employee of the club you support but also a fellow fan yet still you put the boot into him? FFS did I log into B&WA by mistake.

Out of interest how many professional games did you play in?

I don't think I will ever understand some of our fans.

    He made 420 professional appearances.

There is zero need for any sort of "test" to decide if Langfield can spot a top keeper. What a stupid post.

You seem to be one of the cheerleaders for the "hope Hemming fails" clan. Just try getting behind the guy instead of hoping he doesn't cut it just do you can give it the big "told you" routine.

Certainly is when the conversation is that Langfield works works wonders with whichever goalkeepers he’s had. It isn’t true.

i don’t dislike Hemming, I hope he does well but, I just don’t think he’s good enough nor is our coach capable of improving a mediocre goalie; as we’ve seen before.

    That's no True.

I'd argue that Lyness was performing above his natural level when he was with us. Not considered good enough for Raith or Airdrie but was a very steady hand as a second choice with us apart from one very poor game vs Motherwell.

Lyness was a very poor goalkeeper who did not improve above that level during any of his spells with us.

Let’s use Hemming this season as a test case for the super coach and see how it pans out.

Anyway, the one constant in all the good signings we've made is Jamie Langfield.

Hladky, Alnwick & Carson were already very good goalkeepers. Not sure how much a part Langfield played in them remaining very good during their time with us.

He’s also coached some really poor goalies who never improved at all. Urminsky hasn’t looked to have improved any from his first appearance to his last against Rangers.

Langfield being great with Goalkeepers is a myth. He was a shite one himself.

So the News we have all been waiting for.

1st Top Striker was delayed travelling to us.

2nd there were some final details to resolve. e.g. He wants a bonus when he hits 50, 100 and 150 goals for us during his 3 year contract. With the option of a further year and a bonus at 200 goals, which includes automatic entry into our hall of fame.

3rd he was hungry so needed to get fed.

4th unveiling tomorrow. He's always wanted to be here and is proper fit to play on Saturday, saying "Robinson convinced me that St. Mirren are a proper good team and will be in Europe next season". He further added "if they give me the ball then I'll bang in the goals".

5th during the photoshoot, in stead of the usual keepy-uppy, he asked all those pesent to stop him scoring. He dribbled past 4 of them before banging one in from 30 yards in the top corner. The best defender among them said, "he is better than Messi".

Apologies if you find this trite,  I'm only trying to cut the tension until its official.

Maybe something has changed in regards to that which is resulting in this absence?

I appreciate that we have certain posters supposedly ITK who say otherwise but could it be a cover story while treatment is provided? 🤷‍♂️

Regardless of what transpires I really on a personal level that he stays free from that particular addiction. I’ve suffered myself and I’m sure many others on here can relate to addiction of different kinds.

When I met him last season with his daughter in the 1877 club he was a really friendly guy who appeared to be really enjoying his football at Saints and proud of his family.

Remember there are always two sides to a story. Quite often the truth lies somewhere in between.

Hopefully I’ve worded that ok and I don’t get accused of “birthday card pish” as that was not my intention.
