Absolutely no way we should be entertaining bids for Mandron if we don’t need the money. He’s brilliant and crucial to the way we play. I’d go as far as saying he’s the one player we can’t afford to lose.
I totally get where you are coming from. He could very well score into the teens for us next season and goals win points.
However, every player has a price their club will accept and if he leaves for nothing rather than £?????? Thats also in the thinking. So expect we'll offer him an extention if we havent already done so.
I don't know how serious the speculation about him was.
For sure Foyle and SR will be looking for strikers and midfielders who can assist and score regularly. So spotting a guy with potential is the most likely and affordable route.
Mandron is the best striker we've had in years.

They have just apparently knocked back a £2.5m offer for him. Must be more interest in him to knock back that sort of money.
Hard to believe if true - even if it was euros. He's a hot and cold sort but there is potential and pace.
What's Madron worth then?

Ok. Maybe I’m fishing, but money does not equal success. If it did we would not be in Europe.
Hibs are perennial fuckups.
Malky is a dick and they’ve appointed a manager puppet. They’ve got no money, because they’re paying off the last fifteen shitty appointments. They also could sell Youan for well over £1 million reportedly, but your point is valid.
Track record there is so poor.
Anyway what we gonna do with the Mandron and/or Sutherland dosh?

with Taylor developing means that unless we bring somebody in who is a massive upgrade on Taylor, you'll have two guys who feel they should be starting every week at LCB and only one shirt available.
Isn't that already the case as our 1st choice in CB's late last season was Fraser before Taylor, Gogic and Bolton (RCB)

Just popping this in here since @medals was so invested in it.
Well done the Well.
I was simply asking what was happening and adding a bit of banter too... at times I'm over eager and should choose my words better.
It's hard to know how most squads will pan out, but you guys have lost some big players, but fans are waiting with baited breathe.
We are only looking for a few players.
Who is going down next season? RC, St J or ?

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Kieran Offord has joined NIFL Premiership side
on loan until the end of the season subject to clearance. The club retains an option to recall the forward in January. We wish Kieran all the best during his loan spell.

Players can sign for other clubs any time they want, they just can't be registered until the transfer window opens.
I'm really struggling to understand why a St Mirren fan is having a minor headloss about Balmer to Motherwell not being announced yet though.
I was just asking the question - did he or didnt he sign as at one point he was on our radar...

Balmer is a contracted player so can’t sign for Motherwell until transfer window opens (14th is it?) As simple as that. The formalities will be done.
The talk was a 6 figure transfer... so don't think that would restrict when he could sign.

Yes, that doesn't say he'll be announced on Thursday.
It says he'll undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of a permanent move.
Ok. But if he'd signed, you'd expect an announcement most likely by now given he was up here.
So it's more likely that he didn't sign... at least yet.

I don't think anyone ever claimed he'd be "unveiled" for Motherwell on Thursday. All that was reported was that he was having a medical on Thursday and he was definitely in the area as he was cutting about TopGolf on Thursday afternoon.
Yes there were various journalists saying they'd pipped us and he was expected to sign after a medical on Thursday... here is one extract :-
Motherwell are set to beat St. Mirren to land Crystal Palace defender Kofi Balmer, as the player will undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of his permanent move, according to the South London Press.

You do realise the fan ownership is to prevent a scenario like that ?
Yes ofcourse - no way we want to start winning european trophies . I was simply adding to the ridiculous notion of us winning the tournament. I meant it as lighthearted banter bud.

Dream come true when Klopp like manager and a multi billion £ investment comes our way...
Now back to reality.
So much for Kofi being unveiled at Well on Thur. Aye I know he's likely not coming our way either... time will tell where he ends up

I think we might according to this https://footyroom.co/articles/how-much-will-federations-clubs-earn-at-euro-2024-660c2ca3f6cd50108d669a72
If a month ago we had signed a couple of lads who'll play in the final we'd be quid in.

We're in for a pretty quiet window now, tbh, as boring as it may be. As long as Robinson stays, we only need probably three more players, and one of those is already on his way in. Leaves us waiting on another midfielder, and the LCB. I wonder if we might go down the loan route for the midfielder again: I doubt we can stretch to the type of player that would potentially improve our first XI, so loan might be more realistic.
I don't know if the reported interest in Mandron was legit, and of so, if that interest remains. But that'd be the only possible departure I can imagine, and obvs we'd have to try to replace him.
So SR also said he'd also like another striker.
And of course any of our players could go but there was potentially interest in Sutherland.

Three former Saints in the squad - and a former Saint as manager.
Now we just need a current player to get a cap...
It is 4
Shankland, McGinn, McLean and now Morgan
Plus the manager

No idea, I assumed it would have been a done deal going by what Notts County fans (who were all for him signing for them) were saying but there would be interest from L1, I'd imagine.
There was a piece that Bradford should sign him, and if he's good enough, and he seems to be, you'd have think he will have a few options.
Anyway be good to get a decent LCB in the door over the next fortnight.

I'd be shocked if we didn't sign another LCB but on the basis that Balmer isn't a LCB, (a RCB who can play RWB which is what we were apparently looking for him to play) he won't have been considered.
RWB - Rooney and Elvis
RCB - Bolton and Fraser (Rooney as cover)
CB - Gogic (Fraser/Bolton as cover) also probably have Luke Kenny closer to first team matchday squad.
LCB - Taylor and a new player
LWB - Tanser and currently Sutherland (but will sign someone if Sutherland leaves.)
What are the chances of JB signing. His contract finished on 30th June.

We withdrew our interest in him weeks ago, back when Rooney signed.
Nixon is a classic case of a journalist being wrong but not backing down so is framing it as a straight fight between us and Motherwell when it's not the case as we have all the people on the right side of defence that we need.
I take a bow to your knowledge of Nixon but I still think and hope we will sign another CB to take Dunnes place.
I see Rooney at RWB or RB and only RCB if injuries and suspensions are fierce.
At LCB we have Fraser and Taylor but Fraser is a RCB really along with Bolton.
Gogic has Bolton as cover too.
I think 5 CB's for 3 positions is sensible but perhaps Kenny is ready but I'm not sure of that.

Has he actually signed yet or expected to sign on Thursday...
So ala Ian Harte highjack... if he's worth it?
Update reading "according to journalist Alan Nixon" its the other way round.

FFS. Your version of that post would be "I think Robinson is going to stay. Unless Sunderland come calling."
Well if you say so.. hardly we will win the league next season if we don't get beat to the title like yours.

We could be out of Europe first round.I’m an optimist though and have already pencilled in the final.
28th May 2025.
Is Maolida definitely signing on then?
