  1. My thoughts are that seeing as the adverts had the prices exclusive of VAT it was clearly being marketed towards corporate sponsors and probably there weren't many tickets left for the open market, including 1924 members.
  2. That "geezer" would be me. I said at the outset of the SPFL rush to include B teams in competition, whether that be in the Lowland League or in the Challenge Cup that I would not be attending any of the games in the cup as a matter of principle as I was totally opposed to their inclusion in senior football. I don't change my principles and haven't been to any match in the tournament since they were allowed in. I go to all home league and other cup games, a majority of away matches so missing the occasional "diddy cup" match doesn't really faze me. I've been fortunate enough to have seen Airdrie in 2 Scottish cup finals and fair few challenge cup finals so missing this one doesn't bother me other than the boy will be going to his first cup final without me. He only boycotts the games in which we play a B team. I'm intransigent when it comes to a matter of principle and I lay the blame for me not seeing the club in the final firmly at the door of the SPFL and also the clubs for not doing enough to fight the decision. If the B teams continue in the tournament I'll continue to abstain from attending matches in it. You can call it "petty" and I'll continue to think of it as standing by a principle. Funnily enough I'm also the one complaining about the decision to close an entire section of the stand to accommodate hospitality and shunt people who have been supporting the club, financially and vocally, away from that entire area. I'll make clear I'm not far away from that part of the stadium anyway but for me the matchday experience is about more than watching football, partly due the football being so shite for so long, and is more a social thing. Seeing the people who are in that general area who you've got to know over the years and have plenty of chat with and who will now be scattered around the stand. Again not a huge thing but the whole way that this was done in conjunction with the closure of car parks to supporters leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Probably because I've seen enough instances over the years of regular support being taken for granted. Again I'm fortunate in that I'm fit, mobile and can drive through from Stirling in plenty of time, find a place to abandon the car and walk to the ground. Not everyone is that fortunate and not everyone of those people will have the blue badges that the club will accommodate. Rounding off the statement with advice to give consideration to using public transport, on a Sunday, was just the icing on that particular cake. I appreciate there will be many different opinions about all of these things but that's just the way I feel about them. I'll still be there on Sunday and at the league matches thereafter by which time I'll have found something else to moan about. #NoToBTeams
  3. Should have been red. No attempt to pay the ball, good only intent was to play the man and did so with a shoulder to the face. Could easily have resulted in a fractured cheek or orbital. Quite simply he's a fucking thug. I hate the Union flags with a passion but given that they are not offensive or flags of any prescribed organisation I'd defend the right of someone to take it to the football even though I'd prefer they weren't part of our "identity". People being angry about folks taking them to a game sounds like a them kinda problem.
  4. Hoping for a decent draw which will allow us to progress further. It's all money in the bank for the club.
  5. My thoughts on the bottle launcher from our championship thread Brainless and clowns aren't the words I'd use to describe the type of character who can indiscriminately launch bottles into a well populated bar and then run off. The fact that he's on video doing it and only pulls his hood up as he runs off hopefully makes it easier for him to be identified and dealt with. No doubt had a great laugh with his mates afterwards as they reminisced about how fucking hard they all were but will now be shiting it from every knock on his door. As far as the match goes that was a thoroughly deserved victory for the Diamonds with us having by far the best of the chances created and our passing play being miles ahead of the saints. Not a lot of difference in terms of actual possession but we did far more with our share of it. I fully expected going into the last 15 minutes one goal to the good to be under bombardment from balls being launched forward into our box and yet there was relatively little in the way of threat to our defence and keeper. St Johnstone looked like a side who were utterly bereft of ideas. Hopefully we can get a good draw for the next round to put the cherry on top of the weekend.
  6. These c***s aren't representative of the support in general and I imagine that any of our support who post on here if they've seen the video of the cowardly fucking c**t launching bottles into a pub from the doorway will be as horrified as I am. Anybody who can do that without a thought for the safety of innocent people trying to enjoy a bit of lunch or a lunchtime drink deserves the fucking jail and I hope they fucking get it. Sorry if that doesn't fit with your narrative. I don't know who it is but I'd have no fucking problem putting their name out there if I did.
  7. That's your 6 points gathered already. Hopefully be able to get something from EEP as well next week.
  8. I think you pretty much nailed the answer to your first point about the tone of the criticism with your second point about us being dominated in terms of possession (I also can't be arsed looking at stats). I don't believe we have tightened up in defence, the frailties were still evident yesterday it's just that Morton in my opinion were as inept as us in an attacking sense. We have descended from being a team who were able to move the ball around quickly and effectively to a team who can't string 2 passes together, a defence and midfield who don't know where the forwards are thus leaving them so isolated they feed off scraps or are having to drop deep to win the ball themselves. I said at the start of the season I'd be happy with 8th and recent form suggests that is the area where we are likely to be however finding some sort of form which fans know we are capable of would ease some of the anxiety felt by the support although I can't think of anyone who would agree with McCabe's earlier suggestion that there was no reason why we couldn't be competing at the top!
  9. McMaster is a decent player, he's shown that previously and his best performances have been alongside Aiken at the start of this season or previously with Devenny. For whatever reason he doesn't seem to perform quite as well when McCabe is also playing and that could be down to him deferring to McCabe when in possession or just his role being adjusted on McCabe's instruction. Either way this calling him a waste or a coward or whatever else has been banded around is absolute nonsense. There is always one player who some fans just don't take to and for some on here it's clearly McMaster. I'm more than happy to admit that for me it has been Telfer although equally happy to admit that his more recent performances have shut me up somewhat but I'm not going to start chucking praise about just yet. I watched the Raith highlights this morning and that goal from Easton for me sums up a major part of what is going wrong for us. Since he left we've asked Frizz to take on that role and while he's not the same player he got away with it a bit more in league 1 however in the Championship more often than not he's trying to do too much and ends up losing possession. I'm not having a go at him as he's clearly working his socks off on the pitch but it's evidently not working in that role and it's time we tried something else. McStravick while we are persisting with him as one of our starting 11 could perhaps be deployed in that role although due to his age and lack of experience I'd much prefer to have seen him have a gradual introduction to the first team but that doesn't seem to be on the cards. Gallagher is still the most natural finisher at the club and the difference this season, other than the step up, is the lack of Smith and McGill either side of him to create more for him to feed off. McGregor, O'Connor and McStravick haven't quite done that from those positions and while O'Connor doesn't seem likely to be the one to change that there is still time for the other 2 to do something. Pleased to hear McCabe say that he does have a "wish list" as it were and can only hope that he's backed and that they can bring the necessary changes come January. Would still like one of them to be a centre half.
  10. I'm more inclined to take the word of the 2 posters who say he's fine, given who they are.
  11. Bloody non synthetic football pitches causing no end of injuries. The sooner we're all playing on plastic the better.
  12. Just watched the highlights. The space which Wotherspoon was afforded in the box was absolutely criminal. Fordyce gets his back to goal and is in a position to see him progressing into the box. McCabe is just strolling back and can see in front of him that Wotherspoon has all the space in the world. There is no urgency to get back and support the defence, in fact he expends more energy stamping his feet and waving his arms when the goal is scored than he did in tracking back. No doubt it's someone else's fault for not stopping the cross.
  13. Ayr v Morton working fine. Raith v Dunfermline also working fine. ICT v Airdrie, f**k all doing.
  14. I have ask though, seeing as our other players on the edge of the box went with Ayr players in that routine why was Frizzell left with Dowds? Bit of a physical mismatch that one so I'm going to suggest that our marking was so bad that they weren't sure who they were picking up or the routine was so effective that the player who should have been picking up Dowds went with someone else leaving Frizz to pick up the pieces.
  15. Rather than posting on a fans forum looking for "anyone from the club" maybe go to the "contact us" page of the club website and try from there. They provide an email address for the commercial dept that is probably worth a go commercial@airdriefc.com
  16. I'll be anyone's friend. * unless they're a nazi sympathiser, far right extremist, conspiracy theorist, sectarian, gender woo woo believer and other lunatic ideologists. Maybe more, but other than that generally pretty easy to get along with.
  17. "act of cowardice"!? I get "despicable" and I previously used inappropriate, I'd also say unacceptable but you're going a bit far with that first one. In relation to setting the wrong tone by putting him in the first team squad for the Saturday that's a football decision by the manager and would no doubt have been made after discussion with the owner about the sending off incident. They maybe didn't see the need to deal with it beyond the outcome of their internal discipline procedure and the automatic SFA ban. I'm not placed to know what these discussions were so I'll leave it at that. Maybe we could get the laddie put in some stocks for the next home game and you can throw rotten fruit at him if it makes you feel better about it.
  18. It did happen. The club have dealt with the matter internally and he served his automatic suspension in respect of the red card, although it may be the case that a disciplinary committee at Hampden look further into the nature of the offence due to the language used. From what I gather the laddie was absolutely distraught immediately after the match for what was a throwaway comment which he accepts was entirely inappropriate and has put his hands up and apologised. He's a young boy and while there is no place for language such as that used I don't see any need to hang him out to dry for it. Some of us courtesy of education and upbringing know the sort of language that should never be used, while others perhaps need a bit of help to understand that. I'm not saying that this is necessarily the case here but let's not jump to the stage of offering the boy up as some kind of sacrificial lamb given we don't really know him. Hopefully he's learned from this.
  19. St Mirren fan who conveniently forgets that we beat their side last season when we were League 1. A well balanced report on the game.
  20. My understanding of the rules has been that at this stage only loans from clubs higher in the pyramid are permitted. This also seems to be the thoughts of The Press and Journal reporter discussing Ferguson at ICT bringing in players. I don't see how both scenarios can be correct. This is one of the times that the @Skyline Driftersignal needs to be shone into the night sky.
  21. Hopefully a comfortable Airdrieonians demolition of the bigoted fucks in front of a suitably sparse crowd. Looks like it'll be a midweek rearranged date to accommodate those c***s too.
  22. Any particular reason this thread cannot be pinned to make it easy to find on a Sunday night/Monday morning?
