  1. Mark Damon not Matt Damon. Just making that clear.

Film actor and producer in many films gone at 91 years. I remember him mainly from appearances in Spaghetti Westerns, the lead in Johnny Yuma, Ringo and his Golden Pistol for example. First film I saw him in was "Requiescant" where he played the antagonist aristicrat and murderer George Bellow Ferguson to Lou Castel's highly religious gunfighter. Unusual for Damon to play the bad guy, he looked like a vampire.

Can't be many of the stars of that era of the Italian Western genre left now.

And I was thinking I was the only one to get peeved by this.

I think the mobile phone generation are genuinely unaware of their surroundings half the timne. I haven't seen any of them walk into a lamppost yet but it's only a matter of time.

Usually listening to music at the same time. Easy target for muggers/thieves.

    Bovril is fantastic stuff.

With a wee bit of pepper 👌🏻

I asked for a Bovril at the Caley Stadium once. Got back to my seat only to find that it was a cup of coffee with milk. So I though ok, mistake, someone else has my Bovril no big deal. Then I tasted it, it was bovril, with milk and sugar. 😆

And no I didn't go back and ask for another one.

Instant coffee is for poor people.

    At £9 a jar?

I would say tea over coffee if you are financially challenged as you can reuse tea bags.

Unless you like your tea that stewed orange colour.

Like Boomers being known by for their selfishness by their descendants, it occurred to me recently that GenX are the Karen generation and that's how we'll eventually be remembered; a bunch of entitled, screaming harpies.

I wonder if there's a manager I can talk to about this.

I don't think it has anything to do with generations, entitled arseholes have always been with us.

The internet unfortunately gives them more attention than they deserve. Sometimes its just someone have a bad day or a stupid out of character moment, but then you get that person who has learned through experience that not being pulled up for their c***ish behaviour allows them to get what they want knowing that the majority of people won't confront them. So they keep doing it. And when someone challenges them they play victim or throw a massive tantrum or both.

    Swift truncheon to face territory.

  6. Geologically the land is red sandstone, we can see this on the other side of the bridge exposed on the cliffs. On top of that would be glacier rubble and then mud and sand from the river. The stadium end must have been where the earliest use of landfill was as it takes decades for the land to settle back. The land I remember seen it before the bridge was built was 'called' waste land with wild plants, gorse and small trees etc. and rabbits.

The land wasn't suitable for the likes of houses, shops or anything else that involved perminent residence or storing or growing food as the land is contaminated. The football stadium was acceptable though. I would think that the stadium building must have been underpinned for stability and the whole area under the stadium sits on a rock cap above the landfill. This cap of rocks has well mentioned by the club and media over the years in regards to the pitch's unique ability to withstand some of the worst freezing winter weather and any severe downpour. The tide is our friend.

    Going off topic -

Why is there plans another retail park next door, the land is contaminated there is it not and anyway why do we need another f**king retail park? (and probably another Tesco) The town center is dying, that would kill it off for sure. I'm not sure how long it takes for land used for landfill is regarded as safe, but maybe desperation for development and the need to throw money at any development project can be a convincing argument against health and safety with our city's leadership. Other than that we need sports recreation space in and round Inverness since much of our green spaces have been developed for housing. We also desperately need parking and maybe a better idea would be to turn some of that space into an area for park and ride services due to the closeness of the A9 and the A96. This would also be useful for football fans coming and going from the Stadium.

I'm really bad at dissappearing down rabbit holes for hours, this will distract me over all the other stadiums in Scotland and their previous land use. Wasn't the old ground at Kingsmills on farm land and the one at Telford Street was built where there once was an orchard?

Incredible that of the last seven clubs elected into the SFL, four of them came from the Highlands (or at least Highland League), two came from the borders and the last was newco Rangers.

I do wonder how, with such inherent bias in the game to the central belt, and west coast in particular, Highland clubs managed to defy the odds and get into the national set up long before a pyramid was put in place to facilitate movement.

There was about 20 years between Meadowbank Thistle entering and County and Caley Th joining, these places only came up for grabs when they were available. restructuring the leagues etc. There was no election system in place in Scottish football unlike there was in England during the 70's and early 80's.

Has any other club in the world been relegated into a league and then been expected/pressured to say "we like it here"?  That seems to be the case from a league almost entirely filled with folk who prefer the closed-shop setup.  Anything else is (kind of understandably) viewed as being 'too-good for us Billy Big Baws'.

Mackie hadn't helped us here though.  Tbh, if I supported anyone else in the HL then I'd be wanting to see his club take a kick in the stones.

Fact of the matter is that we're an outlier with no affiliation to either the HL or LL, at odds with the majority of other Tier 5 clubs.  Goodness knows where Brechin go from here tbh, especially when the honeymoon period of having different grounds to go to has reached its end.  You could draw parallels with Falkirk of late, but unlike us they've had the clear distinction of being professionals in a semi-pro league which everyone seems to appreciate.

There are only two ways out of this slagging; promotion to the SPFL next season, or staying down for so long we become an established club and then sincerely say "it's quite a good fun league this, sorry that we didn't see at first".  At the current rate I suspect it's more likely to be the latter.  As a town, there are a lot of parallels between Turriff & Brechin for example, and if it wasn't for our SPFL background then there would be no reason for us to expected to be ahead of them (imho).

The #1 thing I miss from the SPFL is every win having a "f*ckin' yasss" feel to it, as opposed to now where 80% of our games have a relatively empty "we didn't slip up, phew" feel about it.   I feel sorry for OF fans who have opted to have the latter with the only potential true joy coming from 4 games of 38.  To be clear here, I'm not saying I'd prefer to be a mid-table HL team over the status quo whilst the days of old are still within feasible reach.

TLDR; I preferred the old way, would like it back, but understand why other HL fans think we're fun to give a kicking because of it.

Who's to say Brechin might end up here for a few years more and be joined by Forfar Athletic. Then there might be a few clubs coming up from the Midlands League once they get their houses in order.

  9. Certainly Brechin never eased up during a game if they were coasting to an easy 5-0 or 6-0 win at home. Did they?

That was never going to bite them on the arse later on?

If they are disliked now, they be even more disliked next season because of their Chairman's comments in the press. Clubs will take great delight in keeping them in the HL and watch Mackie have another public cranial detonation.

You just hate seeing it. 🤣
