  1. Where do you even start with the 3 losses to Elgin, Stranraer and Forfar. As for the squad, King scoring the odd screamer is not enough to justify him staying in the starting 11 when you are so far adrift at the bottom and he gives up or shows a lack of effort in games. I'd honestly much rather they start anyone else who tries. What is it going to take for 2 strikers to be played up front. Rennie scored 2 at the weekend when he has support. Most of the goals he's scored are with support, not as a lone striker having it launched up. Anytime I've seen him play as a lone striker it doesn't work. Then for the defence. Play defenders in defence please, preferably a full back at full back. It's too easy for opponents to have a game plan when we are so predictable with the same mistakes and same weaknesses in the starting 11. By all accounts these teams are very poor. We have absolutely no chance against EK for exactly those reasons. If they are even half tactically aware it will be easier than it was for Annan in the play off. Poor, poor showing. I may as well go and see Cumbernauld Colts, my now local team, as they are most certainly more professionally run and seem to have been able to establish roots locally where Clyde apparently couldn't.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised either. But I apportion almost no blame at his door. He was asked to come in and had no choice but to release many and go for signings in January. Not an easy task. What would be the big selling point of coming exactly? Come and play for Clyde in a toxic, losing environment. Think he's probably done the best he can with a poor hand, maybe underestimated just how bad a situation he was walking into. It would seem strange to me for some to blame McCall. The evidence from his other jobs suggests he isn't the issue. A playoff will be a step too far in my opinion. We would need to be able to compete in more than one game and not make mistakes. We haven't achieved that in the best part of two seasons. All EK or Brechin need to do is be up for it and have a semblance of a game plan. The chairman is the one that has to go. I honestly thought at the beginning of the season we'd maybe finish around 6th or 7th. But from what I can recall he was talking up the chances of promotion this year. Crownpoint, hiring/ not getting rid of Duffy, the need to rebuild a squad mid season and not even being able to organise the basics like a white home shirt is the list just from the top of my head. The bottom line is he's been in charge and we've had a losing mentality and very noticeable decline for the best part of 2, possibly 3 seasons.
  3. Regardless of the strength of the squad is 14 games enough to avoid the bottom position in the league? Even if we were to win 7 it might not be enough. When was the last time we put together the type of string of results we need. 2018-19? Also as a non owner is it true the chairman won a large backing? I find that unbelievable given some of the stuff on here and obvious decline up until now for the last 3 years. For anyone that did vote for him, why? I put almost all of the recent recruitment down to Maitland/ McCall.
  4. Some mixed thoughts about yesterday. Why was Parry dropped earlier in the season? The back 4 looked good. My only frustration was Dunachie. He rarely gets beaten but will win the ball and automatically launch it to the opposition. It would be good if he could occasionally try to pick out his own team mate. The midfield at times looked like they didn't know what to do with the ball and a bit slow with their decisions. I also don't think Allan should be played up front by himself. Those Peterhead defenders needed to be pressurised more and one up front just isn't enough to do it. I've read others mention Young. I'd personally stick Rennie up there with him. We need to start scoring more than once to kill the game, which could have happened yesterday if we'd taken chances. Thinking about the remaining fixtures gives me the fear. Going by last season you need close to 40 points to avoid bottom spot. Say this year it ends up being around the 30-35 mark. That means finding promotion type form and probably winning more games than we have from last season up until now. Lose or draw next week and its preparing for Brechin or EK.
  5. I also remember the Brechin game and genuinely felt very sorry for Mcculloch. He isnt yet at the level required, but the level of abuse directed at him in that game couldn't have helped his confidence and he seemed to get worse on the back of it as the game went on. I remember saying leaving the game that I didn't think he'd recover. I didn't think there was ever a lack of effort, so good luck to him in the lowland league.
  6. From where I was sitting Cameron made a two footed challenge which looked a bit dangerous. I don't think the ref had much option. Jeanfield competed well and you'd be forgiven for thinking the 10 outfield players were in the same league as us. Some good link up play and were it not for Craig getting subbed at half time as he was so poor, and their keeper being poor, it could have went to extra time. Glad we won, but I won't be getting carried away. I'm really not sure where Mccall should start. Pleased to see a manager look as if he cares on the touchline.
  7. This is probably one of the more realistic options. There aren't many managers about that have taken over a squad at the bottom of league 2 like he did with Albion and survived. Albion also noticeably improved from what I can recall and started grinding out results with him as manager.
  8. I think it was with Morton in league 1 after leaving us the last time.
  9. Last night is one of the worst attendances I can remember. As for the performance Brechin were entirely beatable but it seems any team that tries and sticks to a basic game plan against us will have a good chance. I can't see how we are going to attract any other players. What would be the big selling point of coming? Mcculloch for instance, as poor as he was, must be wishing he'd stayed where he was. Completely shattered confidence when hes only started a few senior games and I don't see it recovering with the abuse that gets shouted. The stadium feels soulless. The whole game had negative vibes about it and I kind of wish id have just walked away when there was issues at the gate and let them keep the 12 quid.
  10. Yesterday was ok in the first half, good at points. Sula and Dunachie looked a good pairing. I'm hoping that the defence will do well in league 2. The second half was poor. They kept on doubling up on Craig and Mcculloch on the wings and we didnt deal with it, something which can't be blamed on them when they close down to find the second man has moved into space. I didnt feel the performance of either were as bad as some have suggested. When it comes to Forbes I can remember comments on here when we signed him and I couldn't recall him. On yesterday's viewing I am struggling to think why the club were willing to give him a deal without him drastically improving his fitness. If the plan is to start him in midfield for the season it will be a glaring weakness for teams to use. It is criminal to finish last year with squad depth as one of the issues that cost us in the play-off final to then be on the verge of a new league season starting in three weeks time with the same issue.
  11. I hope I dont regret saying this but I don't think Clyde will be in the bottom two next season. If you look at the squad there are players who have done ok at League 2 level before, Peter Grant, Carswell, Cuddihy, Rennie and possibly Ray Grant. Players like Sula and Scullion have the odd mistake in their game but I think will do ok/well at league 2 level. I think there is a outside chance they might compete for a playoff place, possibly narrowly miss out in 5th. The unknown variable is the untested head coach.
  12. Due to Duffy still being involved I fully expect that now that Doherty is gone we will see a Rennie partnership with either Sula/ or Dunachie playing up front. And i'm not even kidding. His track record of trying Sula up front once or twice last year, and his previous for playing Pat Scullion up front years ago at this level, makes it easy to imagine Duffy advising Mclean to just try chucking one of them up there instead of trying to bring a striker in.
  13. I have no idea if he has an interest in stepping into a head coach role but the Club could do worse than at least ask the question of Lee Sharp. Hes been assistant / first team coach to Goodwin at a few clubs and probably has a decent list of contacts for building a squad. Hes also worked with us before as a coach and if i'm not mistaken played and worked under Duffy before also.
  14. There's also the issue of squad depth/ possibly fitness. It looked at times as though it was Clyde PT against Annan FT after about 60-70 mins, rather than two part time teams. It didn't seem to be a lack of effort. But they looked tired. Annan were also stronger in their wide areas.
  15. Theres been a few times now ive felt the squad are playing at a mid league 2 level and last night seemed to confirm it. I didnt think there was a lack of effort, but there are glaring weaknesses in the squad. Having said that every season for the past few years we have recruited almost a whole new squad, who havent been as good as the last one. Is there not a case for trying to keep a core of a squad for next year, instead of doing the same thing again. I see no reason why some of them wont compete in league 2.
