Speaking to a fellow Lichtie earlier about the teams we could potentially play next season.
Annan, Hamilton, Montrose, Cove, Spartans, QOS, Stenny & Kelty all play on plastic/artificial surfaces.
I imagine we train on plastic? Anyway, think of the advantage we’ll have at home.

Gaston is the departure I think is hardest to take. A great keeper who can have 2-3 more years at L1 level or above. A real shame.

If I had to guess it’s more the fact that Ricky has now got a young family that he’s leaving the club
Someone had said to me he may actually end up playing junior regional football in the West of Scotland or whatever to save him trekking all over the country 3 times a week. Even a team that trained in Glasgow area and had 18 home matches in and around there would save him countless hours
I think it made sense for footballing reasons - but even on a personal level it is probably the best for him as a guy. Wonder what he’ll do but the guy is a legend no matter what.
Yes. He’s been a brilliant servant to the club. Finishing his testimonial year is a great milestone. If we’d been staying in the Championship it would have been time to move on, and the relegation doesn’t really change that. Get him in the Hall of Fame asap.

Ricky little has been a tremendous player for you lot and will be a big miss for sure he would have strolled L1.
Michael McKenna (if he is away) along with Bobby Linn used to be right up for the derby over the years and used to always turn up.Kinda feel now Arbroath have lost their fear factor about them with most off the old guard leaving now.
Ricky is a legend but he would not have strolled league 1 next year. He’s had a pretty rapid decline.

Dick did a terrible job of managing for the future. Far too many of our players were over 30 and the youngsters he brought in were not ready to be regular starters and were ditched pretty quickly (as someone said earlier). A big clear out was inevitable at some point soon and relegation is an obvious trigger. Quite a challenge for McIntyre to manage in the coming weeks. Good luck.

What a player he's been for us down the years. His partnership with ToB has got to go down as one of our best defences ever.
Right up there with Ian Stirling (taller version of Ricky) and Tam Cargill (the previous TOB) in the 60s.

Boruc
Norey, Stewart, Little and Delaney
Slater, Mackinnon and Gold.
Dow and McIntosh out wide.
Bird up front.
Be fair. Let Stewart line up as a striker. He’s played everywhere else this season.

10 at the back and we'll still concede 5.
It looks more like 1 at the back

I’ve seen Arbroath’s starting 11. Mesmerising. Anyone care to guess how we’ll line up. I haven’t a scoobie.

McKenna has been offered a deal. JMc wants to play him up front but he is reluctant as he knows himself he is not as effective at playing up front.
If we’re really going 442 Mikey is not a good fit. Ineffective out wide, and not disciplined or technical enough to anchor central midfield. Would have to be second striker. If he’s not happy there it would be a problem.

Correct on his position, he is strongest in the 10, he drifts too much if he plays up front and not the best with the back to the goal. He isnt the best technically in terms of passing and working one/twos etc but has good delivery and times his runs perfectly into the box. The season we finished 2nd and he got poty he was virtually unplayable, can strike a ball aswel.
The best qualities Michael has is his workrate and attiude, been a brilliant player for us and wish him all the best. I have a feeling it might not work out that well for him at Falkirk, not sure why. Maybe just saying that because he is 33.
I'd agree with the above. His workrate and attitude are first class. We love him to bits. He takes a pretty reasonable corner, but I certainly wouldn't rate him as a technical player. His first touch can be pretty agricultural at times.

Nothing official but heavily rumoured
That would be a vey silly thing for him to do. He would not enjoy sitting on the bench all season.

What did I miss? Has McKenna signed for Falkirk?

Injury prone his whole career. Started his career at Aberdeen and was highly regarded, scored a penalty in their league cup win in 2013. Went to Dundee after and then various clubs slowly dropping down the leagues, ending up at Shire before we resuscitated his career.
Cracking player for us and I like to think he would have been the difference in 21/22 if he’d staying injury free for the whole season.
Sad how it ended for him with us.
He was absolutely a difference maker for us. It was so sad he screwed up and decided to leave us how he did. A real star.

Everything’s a bit sh*t at the moment, isn’t it? Time for a break.

Could be Arbroath's last win in the Championship for a while.
Nah. We’ve got Raith last. They’ve been an easy 3 points for us for years.

We feel your pain as well. A group therapy session in a suitable hostelry is probably required. 2023/4 is a season I would like to forget quite quickly.
What have you lot have to fret about. You came up, you’re probably staying up (3 points from us on Saturday), you’re flying high by QP (and Arbroath) standards.

Disastrous decision by Campbell to agree to play then high flying (not for long) QP two games in a row. It would be nice to get a win - unlikely but not impossible.

Forgetting about Walker at RB
Yes, can we please.

I hope we can keep Delaney. He looked good today. Also MacKinnon but that may be harder.

I thought we were disgusting tidsy
It took me a while to figure out what “disgusting tidsy” meant. No we weren’t. We matched an average Championship side apart from lack of composure in front of goal and a weakness they exploited at right back. Dreadful to continue our losing streak and too much hoofball at times but pretty organised and not disgusting.

Walker was not up to it at right back. Lyon was worse. Everything came down Morton’s left. Everyone else pretty decent. Macintosh my mom.

So, Virtanen as defensive mid, Logan Chalmers for pace on the wing (he’ll go to Ayr), Wotherspoon for the creativity we lack, oh and Hanlon in defence. You can tell I’m not a potential manager.
