  1. Just watched From Dusk 'Til Dawn.

I thought it was ok up until the vampires started appearing, then it got a bit silly. I know it's probably supposed to be like that, but it didn't do it for me.

I think Quentin Tarantino is hit and miss, some of his stuff is brilliant, but some (most) of it is rotten!

    4/10

  2. You must be dead inside
Why? The Simpsons has been crap since about season 9. The movie was an episode's worth of jokes spread over an hour and a half.

I know where you're both coming from.

I thought the movie was ok, I laughed quite a lot during it so that's a good sign, but at the same time it wasn't a patch on any of the truly classic episodes from earlier seasons.

I saw Step Brothers last night. I thought it looked terrible but some of my pals wanted to see it and there was nothing else on, but it was actually quite funny.

  3. Because you didn't get it. :P

I'm not sure what there was to 'get'. I understand why

the replicant didn't kill Deckard at the end and how Deckard learns what it is to be human almost, but apart from that I have no idea what you're talking about!

I did start watching it at half past 1 in the morning though, so I probably did miss a few things!

  4. Aye, I loved the Joker and especially that bit about being "a dog chasing cars". Alfred also had a great line about "some people just want to see the world burn" which I thought was fantastic.

Also in the same scene that Fox tells Wayne that his suit is "cat proof", is that a hint?

    ;)

Yeah, pretty much everything Alfred said was meaningful in some way. I suppose you could say that about the whole film though, there was no meaningless dialogue, everything said was said for a reason.

And it was definitely a hint! That was actually the first thing I said to my friends when we came out of the cinema! I hope they do the Penguin again as well (maybe not in the same film as Catwoman though?), but not the ridiculous comedy 'Tim Burton' version of Batman Returns. He has the potential to be really terrifying I think.

Edit - Maybe they'll continue the animal theme in the next one (albeit a bit more blatant) and have Penguin and Catwoman?

  5. The Dark Knight

Brilliant. None of the "backstory" set up of Begins, it just dives headlong into the story. Ledger is tremendous as The Joker and will rightly be remembered as the definitive version of the character. Bale is great again and Michael Caine is superb with the little screen time he has.

The Harvey Dent/Two Face storyline is really well realised. The whole movie is about opposites. Dent is refered to as the "white knight" more than once, the Joker is basically a shadow of Batman, it's just excellent. :D

I saw it at the Imax last night, loved it! 9/10

I agree with you about Dent/Two Face, I loved the way he came to be especially the

charring of the 2 headed coin.

Ledger was outstanding as The Joker, he totally nailed it. He was scary, funny and came across completely insane all at the same time.

I also loved some of the things The Joker came out with, like when he compared himself to a dog chasing a car - he has no idea what he'd do if he caught it, but he just does it anyway. It was clever the way that the Joker was portrayed as a mad chaotic dog, and at the beginning of the film batman needs a new suit - to help him fight dogs :D .

"The Joker's just a mad dog, I want whoever let him off the leash."

As KB said with the white knight being mentioned etc, there is lots of brilliant wee touches that really made the film.

  6. Memento (2000)

A very good movie, that is quite difficult to follow (especially as I have the same condition, albeit a less severe form) as Leonard.

Although if you know that the black and white scenes are in chronological order, and the colour ones are in reverse then it makes it easier to follow.

Very good film with brilliant performances by Carrie Ann Moss and Guy Pearce, and the very talkative Teddy (John Pantoliano), as well as a rather disconcerting cameo from CSI and ER's Jorja Fox.

    9/10

Yeah, great film, I'd agree with your rating of 9/10.

It's kind of weird though, but I maybe didn't enjoy Memento as much as I did some other films I'd give as good ratings too. I almost appreciated it more than I enjoyed it if that makes any sense...

  7. Agree wi most of that.

Scores so low 'cos it was pretty boring and i didn't like any character, and i hated the old guy and Hartnett's wee brother!

    Quite a refreshing ending though.

    4.5/10

I'd agree with both of you, not very scary and quite predictable.

The only part I'd disagree with is about the ending being refreshing. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, so all I'll say is that I thought it was daft.

  8. Bruichetta to start with, which was burnt not toasted then spag bolgs which tasted soley of red wine. Really disappointing.

Fair enough. I think the time I was there I got the Bruchetta too, don't remember liking it much. I then got some sort of pasta which was very good, but the thing that would make me go back there is the home made meringue with ice cream, which was unbelievable. :thumsup2

Oh well, you win some you lose some I guess.

  9. Don't know if anyone seen it, but on GMTV news hour between 6:00 and 7:00 yesterday morning there was some typical English newspaper hack discussing the previous nights football.

Now I dislike Rangers as much as the next man and agree that the Bremen keeper was attrocious but this knob had obviously been reading the Jimmy Greaves Annual 1983 before he went on air to comment that the keepers gaffes were what we would expect from a 'Scottish keeper'!!

Aye Scottish keepers don't get transferred for £9m these days do they?

English keepers (namely Robinson on umpteen occasions, Carson and James) have never made fucking howlers in the last few years, have they?

You got the impression this eejit had just started covering football and was going on any old stereotype to get him through.

    I know  .

It's not as if McGregor and Gordon are both better than the English mumber 1 is it?
