Been a few Easton rumours coming from very unreliable Motherwell people. Has anyone heard anything from the Raith side of him coming to us? and do you think he's good enough for the top flight? Whenever I've watched him he's been good

I may well be a rare Rovers fan who has a different take on Easton wellfan919191. AlanJM above has given a fair report, but I'm afraid I see a different perspective.

Easton on his day will no doubt be up there with some of the best Rovers players I have seen.  And I go back to seeing the likes of Jim Baxter and Joe Baker.  BUT.  I say on his day, and in my opinion he is not "on his day" often enough.  You will no doubt have seen his "on day"  performances on TV and I agree these have been some excellent performances.  But sadly he doesn't have enough of them.  Again in my opinion, he is either absolutely brilliant, or awfully mediocre.  He has the ability to beat player after player then finish with a worldy goal. or a pass that ends in a goal for a team mate.  However, the amount of occasions where he tries to take on several men (some of them twice) and fails, when the easy pass to a fellow forward in a better scoring position should have been the option, outweighs his brilliant performances.  I see him as being a wee bit selfish and sadly just don't see him as a team player, and that, for me, sadly supersedes his brilliance.

AlanJM could well be right and this somehow might be tied in with his back problems?  I just thought you might like a different perspective, although I will most likely be in the minority with this opinion.

By the way.  Jim Baxter and Joe Baker consistently performed at a high level with very little variance.

Worried as surely Partick are going to get one over on us at some point due to having not all season in the league.
However scared of Airdrie as we seem unable to get one over on them and it is hard to imagine us doing so.

You can use that same logic, but to our advantage, if we have to play Airdrie Flembo.  Surely we are due one against them?

I do feel for Hamilton, what we're asking him to do is not his game, he's up front alone against two or three big defenders and no support trying to get in behind for any flicks he wins. Connolly doesn't have the ability/speed to get in behind

If you watch our games CountryBumpkin you will see that when Connolly plays, he is asked to come all the way back to his own box to defend, which he does with good effect most of the time.  Sadly he cannot be back tackling in his own box, then one second later be standing off Hamilton in the opposition box waiting for a flick on when the ball has been simply booted up the park.

I think it is the way Murray is playing Connolly that makes him look out of position.  I'm sure it was on record somewhere that, according to his data vest, he was one of our quickest players.  Maybe you can enlighten us TX?

However, Quickest player or not, he would need a blue suit and a red cape to be everywhere Murray expects him to be.  I therefore think it's a wee bit harsh to question his ability or speed CB?

I'm pretty sure Ian Murray couldn't care about what anyone in our fanbase thinks about his team selection last week.

You are probably right Broken Algorithms.  But we surely can't all be wrong while he is right?

My post was really in introduction subject comment as to why he had broken the pattern of a Thursday with no pre match interview?

However I see the interview is up now along with a Scott Brown interview.

    Wow.  The power of P&B ........... ?!

  5. RIGHT!  Here's how its gonna be Boys.

A resurged Dunfermline are going to finish third or fourth in the league.  We will hold on to second place.  Dunfermline will win their third V fourth game.  We will play Dunfermline for the right to play the second bottom team in the top Flight. Dunfermline will win this on aggregate, therefore beating us for the first time this season.  Which, let's face it, will turn out to be the only game that mattered.  This will knock our five in a row boast FAR into the Forth, and we will be forced to eat humble pie for a generation.

I'm tellin ye.  Ive watched Rovers for 27 years and this sort of ending is, as always, written in the Stars.

Now.  If we don't want this to happen, we have to go up as Champions............ or else!

My response may have been poorly worded an blunt, however, it was in response to @Double Jack D . I stand my assertion that he has been an absolutely wonderful servant to the club, he is a great lad too and I do believe he is fully deserving of his testimonial. I do, however, push back on @Double Jack D's statement that even if you finances are stretched, you should buy a ticket whether or not you are going to make it.

So, to rephrase... yes Lewis is a great player. I would go as far to say that anyone wanting to make it in football should look to him as a role model - he is the type of player to emulate, not the 'superstars' in the Premier. He is, however, doing his job which he is paid to do. He does it exceptionally well... but the "sacrifice and effort" he puts in are not unrewarded. He is 100% deserving of a testimonial, but people should not be encouraged to get themselves into financial issues because of it. I believe the match should have made financially more accessible.

Chris.  Testimonials were brought in because unlike other paid forms of work, a footballer is pretty much forced into retirement in their mid Thirties.  Most of the rest of us can work on into our sixties and seventies.  So it was a small attempt at giving the player a wee financial boost for the rest of his life.  The fact he gets paid for what he does is quite frankly neither here nor there.  We are giving the man an extra thanks for his efforts in the club we all love, and Vaughan I think deserves this more than most.

McDonald was definitely a better all round keeper. Dabrowski's strength is his shot stopping and being a character, but his kicking with or without wind is poor, his ability to control his box and come for crosses confidently is terrible and his positioning for shots across goal ain't great. Hamilton is good in the air maybe in training they should just constantly throw crosses into the box for a while and get Hamilton attacking the goal and see if Dabrowski can dominate.

That'll be both Hamilton AND Dabrowski out injured for the Pars Game then??

No you're correct, it's an Americanism.

Reminds me of that Outlander author who went on about a hat someone was wearing as being a "Scotch bonnet", and was then certain that it's what Scottish people called it, despite loads of people from Scotland saying she was chatting shite.

You are absolutely right Hobnob We never ask for a Scotch in Scotland.  It would usually be a whisky or by the brand name.  However whisky is marketed across the world as "Scotch".  Always has been.  It's not only Americans that ask for Scotch, it is pretty much used the world over including England.  Scotch whisky however has to be distilled in Scotland and have spent at least three years and one day maturing in an oak cask in order to be called Scotch Whisky.

Oh god do we need a game or what!

Always one 🤡 that feels good by picking out people on their spelling!

Don't think it bothered anyone else, we all seem to have more interesting lives than letting something so irrelevant get in the way of a good post.

Over and out sir - enjoy being pedantic over something so trivial 🥃🤣

Aye. Awa and lay down in yer bladder wash ya ediotic edjit.  Embow's richt enough.  It is a Scottish terminology to refer to Scottish Whisky as Scotch, especially the four words, Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  OR do you care nothing for your Scottish heritage?  My humble apologies if you are not Scottish at all and therefore your ignorance is understandable.  Stop getting on to Embow who is only trying to increase your obvious lack of knowledge.  Ya CHOOB!

I think we need to see a loan signing this week to give them the best possible chance to bed in.and for me it needs to be a full back.

It's been discussed to death for months on here but I think the 6 minutes on Friday encapsulates perfectly every single weak point in the defence. The players being pulled out of position, not being aware of opponents, runners not being tracked, formation gone to absute shit.

You can criticise Kev and his positioning/communication but there is only so much he can do it's entirely on the defence.

Although the midfield selection again had people out of position.

I think we all l need the next fortnight away from this to gain some perspective and have a wee reset.

Can we maybe just give young Hannah a chance at left back before spending more?  The Young Lad looked OK to me for the brief spell he has been on the pitch.  I know he is young, but a 17 year old appeared for a premier league team at the weekend!  Trying out young Hannah in a game that mattered would not be seen as the most Gung Ho decision Murray has made.  Would it?

On another matter.  I too used to play in Goal, and Big Kev had to be on the right hand side of his goal line just before the goal because all the play was to his right,  in order to cover his near post .  However, like other Keepers above, I would have expected my left back to be covering the left post area and not clashing in an attempted header with my right back who was in his right back position!

  11. If we aspire to progress out of our current league, then this is the type of game we have to be winning.

I accept we played against huge defenders and midfield players. but we have to stop being so naive with our forward passing game plan.  I also accept some of our forward players were again naive when making decisions in the opposition box.  How many passes in the box should have been shots.  How many shots should have been passes?

Smith is fast and also clever but recently he has missed so many chances.  To be honest I genuinely think we sold a better forward to Bonness today.  Mitchell has a far better eye for goal.

  12. Aye.  Reserve team is definitely the way forward.

We do however need the Accountant Gods at the top of Scottish football to be dividing more of their/our cash to the lower divisions to help fund this.  Let's face it.  It would help Scottish football as a whole.

Can I see this happening anytime soon? .................... Or indeed, any time at all? ..................  Sadly, NO.

Just book the bus to a local social club. Then return to said social club. What you do I between is f**k all to do with anyone 🤣🤣

But would that be the case in Scotland?  Given it relates partially to a transport matter, is transport not devolved to the Scottish Government?  This is in relation to the Derek Watson post regarding alleged UK government rules on football coaches.

I don’t think there’s been anyone being over the top in their criticism, and I say that as a signed up, fees paid member of the happy clapper club. Most are just saying what they’ve seen in the games played.

Count the amount of moans against the Lad Hank.  They don't have to be over the top, it's the number of moans that is in danger of sapping his confidence.
