  1. Absolute shower the first half - we could barely string a pass together. Good to see Naismith change it at half time, don't think Swift would have done that, and it worked. Never been a great lover of Forbes but he played really well for the first 20 minutes he was on. Goalkeeper is still a worry and as others have said what is wrong with Orr. Rovers may feel hard done by.

  2. Whoever the new manager is he needs to bring in a decent goalkeeper and a decent centre midfielder.  We have the fire power upfront to be a threat but need some pace in central midfield and the defence needs tightening up.  There should be 3 or 4 shown the door in January as well.

It has taken the board a fair bit of time to act but at least they have acted.  A defeat on Saturday with Swift in charge would have been carnage.

  3. I have previously stated I was thinking of not attending while Swift is in charge and I am still in that state of mind.  I want to show my support to the team but think my attendance gives validation to Swift's position. I am currently thinking that either a show of non attendance by the fans or a protest whereby they stay outside the ground for the first 15 minutes may force the Board's hand.

At the moment you cannot see where a win is going to come from but the board seem happy with this and content to listen to Swift's regular after match babble. It is now getting monotonous with the same garbage being uttered.

The sound of silence from within the club is deafening.

  4. Will depend on how we contain Hester.

Really not to bothered at the moment as I have said I will not be back until Swift is gone. if it means a couple of defeats to realise this then so be it. The important thing is the board can not prolong this for too long. There is an outside chance that a new face will turn us round but the longer we wait the slimmer the chance of this happening. Knowing our luck the board will offer Swift a new contract.

  5. Some of the crap that was uttered when he was appointed.

Stenhousemuir FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen Swift as the club’s new first team manager.

He will join the club straight away and will link up with the squad within the next couple of days once all COVID testing protocols have been completed.

Stephen is highly regarded having played for a number of Scottish clubs before taking the reins at Scottish Lowland Football League side BSC Glasgow.  Most recently, he managed the 2020 side that won its way through to the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup.

Stenhousemuir FC Chairman Iain McMenemy said, “Stephen has built himself a very positive reputation as a modern, progressive manager that can lead and inspire a team to success.  He has a strong focus on strategy and tactics, and we believe this will really enhance our ambitions as a club.

“We have spent the last couple of years building a modern, resourced football department at Stenhousemuir that is able to support the management team in terms of recruitment and play.  We see Stephen’s appointment as a crucial part of our efforts to take the club forward.

“I would like to thank BSC Glasgow, and George Fraser in particular, for their professionalism as we have worked through the recruitment process.

Stephen Swift said, “It’s with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the staff, volunteers and players at BSC Glasgow.  The club has been a huge part of my life for the last 4 years and I’m grateful to have had the privilege to work with them.

“It’s time to look at the next opportunity, and I’m really excited to come on board at Stenhousemuir FC.  I believe this club has the potential to be one of the best part-time professional teams in the country.  It’s a great opportunity for both myself and my coaching staff and we can’t wait to get started.”

  6. Well we managed to get a draw at home to the worst team in the league thanks to a penalty and were lucky not to lose it at the death.

That's it for me.  I will not be back until that charlatan is gone.  If the board cannot see the damage he is doing to the club then they should resign as well.  That today was truly abysmal we were utterly clueless against a really shite team. There should be no aftermatch interview because he should be sacked by then but if there is he will no doubt be disappointed and the lads will be gutted as per norm.

Some people were saying he should be given the cup game next week, seriously do you want us humiliated up there?

Will find better things to do now on a Saturday until he is replaced.

  7. Followed the team through thick and thin for over 50+years. Had really high hopes that this season was going to be the one.

Will I ever see the team finish as champions?

Now seriously thinking about not going back until Swift is gone, but that is dangerous as once you find something else to occupy your time then football no longer becomes the attraction or habit it once was.

Swift talks a good game but his failings are plain for all to see and his time must surely be up. Let’s just see how ambitious the board are.

  8. Surely his time must be up. Every week we concede and hear the same story that he is disappointed as the boys were working hard during training. Sorry this pish no longer washes.

At the start of the season it was heavily discussed that there was no way that Forbes and Wedderburn could play in the same team but week in week out there they are. There is enough talent and capability in the squad if the right manager was in charge of them.

Looks like that’s the season over for another year, Swift will get replaced at end of season, new manager eventually brought in, struggling to put squad together for start of season and that will be another year wasted unless the board act now.

  9. 17 hours ago, Neilly said:

If things continue to go south and Swift ends up losing his job then he can only have himself to blame playing the likes of Forbes, who has given him one blinding 45 minutes of football up at Forfar in 40 odd appearances or whatever it is. I just can't offer any explanation as to how he is not only featuring from the bench for a side supposedly chasing a league title but actually now starting.

The same manager who could not see that Marshall was never going to be a goalkeeper last season.  How many chances did he give him?

  10. When the league fixtures were announced I think most of us anticipated that we would be sitting on a minimum of 6 points at this stage.  Only a misfiring Albion Rovers team have prevented us from being on 0 or 1 point.  The next two league games will not be easy so we could really be looking at a rerun of last season.

Higgins getting sent off so soon did not make it easy for the manager but you continually look at his mid-field selection and wonder if he knows who to play there.  On paper we have a talented squad but they are evidently misfiring. I cannot recall the last time we had a team under pressure for any extended period of time.

We look like an accident happening every time we try to play it out from the back.  If that was the style he wanted to introduce why have Jamieson and Crighton in the squad when it is evident that neither are comfortable with this system.

Is he now looking at O'Reilly as a luxury or does he not fit into Swift's perceived system?  If there is one player in our team who is likely to unlock a defense it is him but so far has only started once in the 3 league matches.

The doubts that were there at the start of last season unfortunately are now returning.
