  1. ALL the focus needs to be placed on survival in this league this season. Without that, just look at the dogs dinner that has been Falkirk - absolutely everything set up for a quick return, and what is it now - year 5? Relegation would be a disaster for us and set everything back years. We need a saviour, we can worry about visionary at a later date. We are in a runaway train to the seaside leagues at present.
  2. I can’t see past McCall for the following reasons: 1. Experience 2. He has been here before 3. He must surely be within our budget 4. He can spot a player. He may only take us so far, but that would be a full 180 on where we are heading at the moment, and I’d bite your hand off for that. Dont mind a wee bit of a project/experiment if we have some leeway, but right now we are hanging on to championship status with our fingertips!!
  3. What manager wouldn’t leave if a better opportunity came up - just nature of the beast surely?
  4. I don’t think I appreciated exactly where Clyde were sitting in the league - just waiting for the trap door to open. I’m sure Uncle Ian would jump at the chance to manage us again.
  5. There is a lot to be said about how professional a club wants to come across, and how confident they are that they will find the right candidate within a timeframe set by them. You could hang around forever waiting for someone better to come along. Be bold, show strength. As Uncle Ian always said - plucky wee Ayr - we need dump that and compete with the bigger boys, at least in attitude if nothing else.
  6. This. You can spend every waking hour trying to engage with the community, but you are simply swimming against the tide if the team are going backwards
  7. Manager - put a winning team on the pitch. Anything on top of that is gravy
  8. You can see the vast difference between McCalls squad and Bullen’s. One was clearly championship level and the other, well!!
  9. Here’s an update from a.n.other club: https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/ptfc-agm-update/ Ive had a quick read through, but seems to come across as informative, professional and engaging
  10. This might go against the grain, but one thing you miss by having such a small league are games where you can blood in youngsters. Having only 1 team out of 10 with nothing to play for right up to the death is exciting, but does nothing with regards to planning or trying out players in first team competitive action.
  11. I think that guy that was released yesterday should be in charge as he sounded amazing!!!!
  12. I am neither bald or 52, but have a gilet. I might go for assistant. #WeAreSlightlyHappierButPissedOff
  13. Can’t fill the hospitality with kids. Charm offensive incoming soon I reckon
  14. Yip - it’s too much and gone too far. Expect it from state media, not our local beloved football club. Night night
  15. I’d go as far to say that while it’s not incendiary, it is at best, misguided
  16. How to cheer up your full support only to kick them in the bollocks immediately afterwards
  17. EVERYBODY wanted Bullen to do well, but he didn’t. He wasn’t hounded out - he just wasn’t good enough. So those that are making out he was some kind of visionary or legend for what he did at Ayr United - he was always going to be judged on results on the park, regardless of how much of a gentleman he was off it.
