The Fiend going after the title already doesn't seem like the best idea.

Also Corbin vs Joe vs Ricochet in KOTR semi final.

I like them capitalising on the hot start that The Fiend has had. Probably a good one off challenger. Especially at Hell in a Cell.

What, then bury the guy again?

They should have had him gone over Cena at what was it, 30? He was brilliant during that feud, then they booked him to shit including a boring, one way lead up to Mania 31 against streak-less Taker.

The Cena rivalry made him a bigger star than he was. You don't have to win to become a bigger name. WWE's problem has always been that they don't really know what to do with the more outlandish characters like that anymore. So might as well enjoy their brief spell in the spotlight.

You don't have to win no, I agree. Sometimes it helps though and that would have given him a platform to push on

He had one. And as always, WWE had no idea to deal with someone like him. He's done well to even get sustained time pushing close to main events. He's pretty far out there for a PPV main eventer.
