Hampden Gets Uefa Cup Final

Should be a top night at the national stadium in two years' time, for those who can get tickets. Raises the profile of Scottish football as well...

Doubt Dumbarton will be there, though. ;)

Hampden isn't the greatest stadium in the world (well not anymore) but UEFA were obviously impressed by everything regarding the recent CL final held there and had no reservations on choosing Hampden again.

I know for definite that Hampden has UEFA's 5 star rating and that Celtic Park doesn't but does anyone know if Ibrox does or not?

Pretty sure it does, was reading something about the upcoming decisions and pretty sure Ibrox and Hampden were mentioned, with Parkhead conspicuous in its absence. ;)

Yeah it was something to do with the dressing rooms that means CP is only 4 star and Ibrox is 5 star.

As Winston said, having a european final back at Hampden so soon after the last one shows how good a show/host we are. :) Keep them coming back, and we might see 2 decent teams play eachother in Scotland more than once a decade.

Not sure why they say "it's good for Scottish football". It's a bit like saying OF success in Europe's good for our game when they mean good for the clubs concerned. They get richer whilst the poor get poorer. What difference will it make to the likes of Brechin, Alloa or Albion Rovers and their fans, what benefits will all our other clubs see from this? Good for the bigwigs and suits maybe, don't know how many ordinary Scottish football fans will be able to attend though. -_-

No Scottish fans should be allowed to attend, IMO, it should be split 45-45-10 between the competing clubs and the sponsors/guests.

Say, for talking sake, Motherwell played Aachen in the Champions' League Final. The game was played at Fratton Park (20k capacity). Comfortably accommodating both team's average crowd.

Now, say, both teams only got a total combined allocation of 3000 tickets, so the Hants fans could "watch good football".

Would you be happy that you didn't get to see Well in the UCL final, but Hants fans did??

Didn't think so.

These grounds aren't picked with local fans in mind, they're picked for access and facilities.

You know little, and you say it badly.

And why on earth can't you just write a post???????????? It's not a text message? Is it really so difficult for you to write "you" instead of "u", "and" instead of "n", "to" instead of "2", "why" instead of "y", "are" instead of "r"??

My new policy, after this post, is not to reply to any post written in text language.
