madmitch
I started this thread to give this subject some profile rather that put it on "what's the last film you saw thread". Hopefully, fellow P&Bers will indulge me. The movie Searching for the Sugarman is a documentary about a Detroit based American singer who completely flopped in terms of sales in the USA in the early 70's. I don't want to spoil the film for anyone. Let's just say that the film was awarded an Oscar for best documentary feature at this year's Oscars. I highly recommend that people watch it. To tell anymore about it would spoil the experience. I saw it on a plane the other day so not in the UK therefore, have no idea of it's availability there at the moment. Enjoy! Quentin Taranbino
Saw it at the cinema and was best documentary I have ever seen and probably my favourite film of last year. Was really excellent. Although tempting, do not Google or read up about what it is about. The less you know the better. Just watch it
dave.j
It's a cult film around my circle in the Glasgow music scene. Not seen it yet, but yet to hear a bad word about it. Meant to be just incredible.

Savage Henry
Finally got round to seeing this. Didn't know anything about Rodriguez at all. Brilliant story. Can only echo the other posts. Do not google his name. Great documentary.
Savage Henry
Great film. Away to google his name. ETA: Googled his name. Nothing untoward Point being, it kind of ruins the story a bit if you've heard of him before you watch it.
Boostin' Kev
Thought it was good up until the point they actually made contact with him.
a1974h
Aye it's excellent. Gave it to my dad who absolutely does not have the same music taste but he loved it. A real gem. I had heard of him before. His song sugarman was on a david Holmes complication years ago. I then worked with a South African who heard me playing the song.
