Great result and another good honest performance from Kelty Hearts today winning 3-1 at home to Newtongrange Star.

Well done team Kelty.

As a Haws man it pains me to say it but Kelty looking very, very strong. Well done to Tam, Kiy and the players and really chuffed for Billy McKenzie, a guy who has put everything in to the club.

Grudging well done to all!

Great result for the club yesterday a game we throughly deserved to win. Newtongrange have some cracking individual players in Thomson, Renton and Jaimeson and they are certain to be competing for the league come the end of the season.

It was a great team performance from Kelty with us winning our individual battles all over the pitch and Stuart Cargill after a 3 week dry spell was our match winner notching a hatrick.

Also it was our 1st time filming a game for us and Macintosh done a great job along with big Brian on the camera, well done and a big thanks lads.

Away to Kirkcaldy in the Fife & Lothians Cup next week, a cup we are keen to do well in.

We were missing Craig O'Reilly STL who is away on his honeymoon, full squad otherwise.

Mark Morrison was deployed in a slightly different role yesterday, put in great shift as they all did.

What or who is STL I've noticed these letters in a few posts guys can some let us know what they stand for

Kelty Hearts 3 v 1 Newtongrange Star

A fascinating top of the table clash was in prospect as Kelty Hearts welcomed fellow Superleague pacesetters Newtongrange Star to Central Park.

Both sides came into this one in rude health with `The Star` in particular receiving good reports for their early season exploits.

The first half was a fairly evenly contested one with Hearts arguably just shading affairs on chances made after an initial feeling out period.

Played at a good pace throughout without ever reaching the intensity of some of Hearts previous encounters this season the scoreline was probably a fair reflection on the play, a superb first time volley from Nelly McCabe being the pick of the action.

HT 0-0

Hearts began to get a grip on the ball, being `First` in a number of the individual battles which gave them the platform to build the play more often.

The opener came as Nelly McCabe fired in a shot from a defensive clearance around the 18 yard box which was deflected into the bottom left hand corner of goal via Stuart Cargill 1-0 Hearts.

Before Star could clear their heads they found themselves further behind, a long throw down the right side was flicked on by the hard working Sean Grady to Stuart Cargill who headed for goal with pace committing a Star defender just inside the box, penalty Hearts, which was put away confidently by Cargs 2-0 Kelty.

A side can often be measured by how they react when going behind, Nitten Star did not disappoint in this regard as they came right back into the game when Kris Renton scored a beauty of a goal, finding the time to get of a great shot that gave Kyle Allison in the Kelty goal absolutely no chance.

Star went close again not long after when Craig Thomson rattled the bar from a superb free kick.

Kelty defenders Tam Courts & Roger Duffin were called upon to make crucial last gasp tackles in dangerous areas around this period also as `The Star` pushed for an equaliser.

Hearts managed to put the game to bed however with a breathtaking piece of play. The ball being worked from deep in their own half after some clever work by Sean O`Neil to Mark Morrison who found Conrad Courts in the left midfield who hit a great ball over the top of the Star defence which was taken down and dispatched into the back of the net in two touches by Stuart Cargill to score his 3rd of the match 3-1 Kelty.

Scottish Junior Cup 3rd round draw

Kelty Hearts v Boness Utd

Great tie to look forward to for us, being at home in front of a bumper crowd.

A game we will go into full of confidence with a home crowd to cheer us on, cant wait for it.

Notice there are suggestions on the Irvine Meadow v Auchinleck Talbot thread of perhaps asking permission for the game to be switched to a Sunday to enhance the crowd.

Could this be a possibility for the Kelty Hearts v Boness Utd tie if both clubs were open to it?
