Sounds a bit gusty.

The eye of the storm hit the island of Barbuda, which has a population of around 2,000 people at about 02:00 local time (06:00 GMT).
Winds gusted at 250km/h, before the recording equipment broke and no further readings were received.

Bad parenting.

Alison Strand, originally from Staffordshire, is on the island of Anguilla. She said her family had spent several hours fortifying her home on the coast, which she expected to be "the first house hit by the storm".
"Our house is 5m (15ft) above sea level and we're expecting 8m swells, so we're just crossing our fingers," she said. "We are expecting to lose our wooden roof."
She told the BBC she had a "little dance party" with her four children on Tuesday night to drown out the noise of the storm as it approached.

While the models are a bit uncertain so far out, ECMWF, the best for predicting hurricanes has this news for Maimi.

140mph winds plus very serious storm surge.

But it looks like it is going to hit Haiti very hard. Hurricane Matthew took nearly 600 lives there last year, this one looks worse.

There doesn't seem to be much that misses that country.
I was in The Dominican republic a few years back when a hurricane passed off the coast.
It then hit Haiti with everything it had.

Thats bad recycling etiquette.  Dead bodies in the garden waste bin (brown), metals in the maroon bin.

You can't put bodies in the brown bin, have you ever seen the film Fargo.

With the benefit of hindsight: It wasn't a great idea to build a resort city, in a hurricane-prone region, on a sandbank situated between an ocean and a swamp.

You can't make an omelette with breaking a few million eggs.

I believe the highest gusts of wind ever recorded in the UK was 177mph. This was in Unst, in the Shetland Isles and was recorded shortly before the measuring equipment was blown away and never seen again!
