Anyone wanting to see a tornado live right now - go to link - https://tvnweather.com/live

Mile wide tornado west of Chicago, within red box on map click on Paul Goddards live stream cam

If Paul's stream goes down check out Basshunters, they are right behind the tornado

Been a bit damp & windy on the NSW coast the last few days. Most Popular: Three killed, homes washed away as 'cyclonic' low batters NSW

Understatement! It's rained solidly from Monday until now (Wednesday afternoon). 100km winds, trees down, power lines down. Carnage.

Was wondering if you had been affected. Watched the start of the Sharks-Rabbitohs on Monday thought holy f**k. Then it got worse, including the result.

I'm surprised 4000 folk turned up for it, and it went ahead. The weather was horrendous. And last night as well the WSW game went ahead. Both pitches seemed to hold up ok but it couldn't have been much fun playing/watching.

This is what a Spanish Plume does to us.

The Met Office has given a yellow warning (be aware) for thunderstorms tomorrow late afternoon in areas Strathclyde, Lothian & Borders and South West Scotland.

Estofex http://www.estofex.org/has a level 2 for these areas as well, giving these areas severe warnings for mainly heavy rain, hail, severe wind gusts and tornadoes. Estofex have also given a level 1 for the North of Scotland, for hail and heavy rain. So generally these storms could show up anywhere in Scotland. Looking forward to this.

Any photos and videos from tomorrows storms, please add them to this thread, cheers.

Just know now after this build up nothing is going to happen.

And so it begins....

West Highlands - Thunder storm heading quickly north, now in the Kinlochewe, Achnasheen area, having passed near to Oban over an hour ago. This one is giving of plenty of lightning strikes.

Looks also a storm heading north along the east coast Fife and Tayside/Angus has really kicked off some strikes.

I'm putting this up here because we may never see anything like this for many more years, maybe never again.

TORRO TORNADO WATCH 2015/002 (note watch 1 is still valid below)

A TORNADO WATCH has been issued at 1100GMT on Wednesday 1st July 2015

Valid from/until: 1115 - 2359GMT on Wednesday 1st July 2015, for the following regions of the United Kingdom & Eire:

Parts of (see map)

Much of northern and eastern Scotland

Far NE England

THREATS

Tornadoes; hail to 30-50mm diameter, perhaps larger with supercells; wind gusts to 60mph; CG lightning

SYNOPSIS

A few showers and thunderstorms have formed across SE Scotland and Northumberland, with others across the West Highlands, in response to strong surface heating and a subtle NE'wards moving upper trough. Shear is sufficient for organised severe thunderstorms including supercells, capable of large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps isolated tornadoes.

In the wake of this activity, other storms may form or move up from the south later today/this evening, hence the long duration of this watch.

Forecaster: RPK

TORRO TORNADO WATCH 2015/001

A TORNADO WATCH has been issued at 1100GMT on Wednesday 1st July 2015

Valid from/until: 1100 - 2359GMT on Wednesday 1st July 2015, for the following regions of the United Kingdom & Eire:

Parts of (see map)

Midlands

N England

THREATS

Tornadoes; hail to 30-50mm diameter, perhaps larger with supercells; wind gusts to 60mph; CG lightning

SYNOPSIS

Hot and reasonably moist plume of air is destabilising with the combination of strong surface heating along with forcing for ascent from approaching upper trough, with a thunderstorm noted in the SW Midlands. Steep mid-level lapse rates /8C per km/ are contributing to around 1000-1500 J/Kg of CAPE, with around 30-40 knots of deep layer shear. Fairly undirectional shear will promote organised multicells and perhaps splitting supercells capable of large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps isolated tornadoes.

Question marks still remain over the extent of thunderstorm development this afternoon/evening across the area, and further afield. Other watches or discussions may be required through the afternoon. too.

Forecaster: RPK
