Wee_albert
The Albert were unlucky not to take the game to penalties against Kilwinning today at Abbey Park. The game started with Kilwinning having the better of the first ten minutes with the Albert looking nervous, and after 10mins Kilwinning took the lead when a through ball caught the Albert defence out and the striker ran in an scored by the Albert keeper. This seemed to spur the Albert on and they came into the game more and created a good chance but Scott Brennan shot wide, then after 25 mins the Albert equalised when from a shot come cross Scott Bernnan hit the post and the ball fell to Gareth Stokoe who passed the ball into the net. The Albert continued to have the better of the first half and after 35mins to the lead when a Saaf turn and shot beat the keeper. The Albert when in at half time deservedly 2-1 up. The second half started as most the games this season with the Albert conceding early goals this time two on the first 5mins allowing Kilwinning back into the game, for the next ten mins the Albert held on as Kilwinning tried to kill the game off. But a mixture of bad finishing and good goalkeeping kept the score down. The Albert started to battle back into the game and equalised after 30mins of the second half from a long throw by Jordan Paterson the Kilwinning centre half headed into his own net. The game was swinging back and forth until after 35mins the Albert should have went behind but two great goal line clearances kept Kilwinning out. Then with 5mins to go Kilwinning scored from 6yds with a header there was no challenge from the Albert defence or keeper. The Albert had a penalty appeal turned down it would have been soft if given. The Albert more than matched there illustrious opponents and should have taken the game to penalties. But will need to stop giving soft goal away . Good luck to Kilwinning in the next round also well done to groundsman as the pitch was in great condition.
Kilwinning Ranger
Relieved to be through got the early goal but then we became very Sloppy and every credit to your players they took advantage of that. Second Half was a bit better came out upped the tempo for 20 mins got ourselves in front and then had number of chances o kill the game off but then became sloppy again but thankfully the winner came and you could see how relived our players were to get through. All the best for the rest of the season
