Absolutely, we've badly lacked legs in the middle of the park so hopefully Conor McBrearty can provide it. What he lacks in finesse, he makes up for in boundless energy. Still short in a couple of places but this is a good signing and I hope he can reprise the shift he put in last term.
Moonglum25
Good news about McBrearty - hopefully he will shift some of the deadwood. We might have a chance tomorrow with McKinnon in charge of the Spiders but the Sword of Damacles is still hanging over Irons Head

Moonglum25
13 League Games - 3 wins, 2 draws, 8 defeats including 5 on the bounce. A grand total of 11 points from 36 - how much longer will the board give him?

beaver1
I would get rid. Queens Park were absolutely honking, as were Stirling last week, and again we give away goal, after goal, after goal. Team is good enough to stay in this league but we need someone able to motivate, and encourage them, as their confidence is shot to bits.

As far as I am concerned he has had his chance and blown it. We will hear how unlucky we were not to get a draw/win but that is still not good enough. No disrespect to QP or teams like the Albion but they were there for the taking and a half competent side would have done the business. We make a substition 1 minute into injury time when we are getting beat - that is inspired and guaranteed to waste time! Thought Dykes had returned to his club. Is Ross Dunlop injured or out of favour at East Fife? would have him back in an instance - he and Marsh appeared a competent pairing when they were together. Neilly
10 defeats in 12 in the league since Waterford. It's desperate stuff and hard to see signs it's going to get any better. Take the top two out of this league and these are not good teams we are playing against so to have that record is gauling. Queens Park looked like a pub team so it doesn't say much about us. Cookie had already cost two goals before Irons suddenly realised he isn't a left back. Scores within a minute of going to his natural position. Why is Cook even anywhere near left back this far into his reign? Blair, Armstrong and McBride were absolutely hopeless if we can't get an upgrade on them in January then we are in even bigger trouble I have no faith we are avoiding bottom with the current squad. Hoppy probably had his best game for us tore them to shreds at times so at least one positive to take.
Wallygog
And a win will only paper over the cracks unfortunately. As far as I am concerned he has had his chance and blown it. You make a good point about a win only papers the cracks. A win over Brechin next Saturday doesn’t make you safe. Gives you a bit of breathing space yes but Albion easily overturned a six point deficit in the final quarter of last season and were home and dry with an eight point gap. The worrying thing if I was a Warriors fan is do you trust him to be able to get you results after next Saturday and if you do avoid the play off do you trust him to start next season and have you in the same position in the shit. From the outside looking in looks like Irons has totally lost the dressing room. After three wins against TNS, Cove and Waterford (who you could hardly call diddy opposition) the wheels come totally off.
Vimto90
Which asks a bigger question. Why? Cove are head and shoulders above the rest of the league, we went 1 nil down early on and won the game. That was after beating Waterford a full time Irish team and playing well. I know those were games early in his tenure but it just seems bizarre to have tailed off so quick. The Marsh altercation has maybe not been so easily sorted. In saying that we went to Brechin and won as well. A pressure game away from home. So is it really all irons or is he just dealing with the absolutely mediocre squad assembled by Mcmenamin.Forget papering cracks we need to win next week, that is all that matters then we can see where we go from there.
Christophe
Binning a second manager in a season is not going to solve anything. Especially at this time of year when he will already have window targets, and we'd give zero time for a new guy to make any plans in terms of changing personnel. We have to bite down now and hope Irons can make 9th, that's literally all I'm hoping for now. The board should however be starting to think of a new guy for next season NOW, proper process, no more easy options, we've made the obvious in-house easy appointment over and over and it's gotten us nowhere. They have 7 or so months now to get a good appointment in for next season, in the meantime we bite down and hope we are still in the senior set up by then. Can't see any other way of doing it at this stage of the season.
Neilly
Oh another positive was the young team down the front but how can Scottish football expect to expand a fan base when the stewards are making their day out another day at school. SIT AND BE QUIET! We had it when we were young as well. About 30 rows away from anyone else and not bothering a soul and those stewards telling them to sit down. It's a complete joke in this country when you go to football in Germany it's encouraged to bounce about and create an atmosphere for whatever reason in this country you are some kind of criminal for bouncing around at a football match. Hope it doesn't discourage the lads and they keep turning up. Edited January 5, 2020 by Neilly
