Are Brisbane into closing down territory?

Have a feeling the FFA won't let that happen and they'd take over the licence until they find new owners. FFA did this for Adelaide United in 09/10 and part of 10/11 and think they've done something similar for Newcastle Jets. The FFA won't want to lose a side with good crowd potential.

Draw for the next round of the FFA Cup was made earlier today with at least 3 lower league sides guaranteed a quarter final spot.

The FFA Cup round of 16 draw, which was conducted Wednesday afternoon, also sets up an interesting match-up for Melbourne Victory, who will have to travel up to Sydney to play Rockdale City Suns.

Meanwhile, the other two A-League clubs, Perth Glory and Western Syndey Wanderers, will similarly be on the road to do battle with Lions FC and Palm Beach Sharks respectively.

The round of 16 FFA Cup fixtures will be scheduled on 25-26 August and 1-2 September.

FFA Cup 2015 - Round of 16 Fixtures

Adelaide United v Sydney FC

Melbourne City v Wellington Phoenix

Lions FC (QLD) v Perth Glory

Rockdale City Suns (NSW) v Melbourne Victory

Palm Beach Sharks (QLD) v Western Sydney Wanderers

Heidelberg United (VIC) v Sydney United 58 FC (NSW)

Hume City (VIC) v Sydney Olympic (NSW)

MetroStars (SA) v Oakleigh Cannons (VIC)

The Brisbane Roar incoming. Is the FFA running clubs as weird as it sounds?

They did it with Adelaide United in 09/10 and part of 10/11. Think they might have also taken control of Newcastle Jets for a short while. It's a short term move while finding new backers for the club licence.

But is there an.accusation of conflict of interest?

Not that I've seen reported as they need to keep the competition going. It would be a disaster if we went back to the days of the old NSL or worse the State Leagues as spectator interest would disappear as still fairly ethnic based clubs at lower levels.
