Fauldhouse had a decent amount to spend as well. My start at Irvine wasn't that great tbh and it took 7 games for us get a win. Our 2nd win was a good GIRUY moment though:

Sitting 9th in the league probably safe enough, and little chance of making promotion play-offs.

Unfortunately the win over Fauldhouse wasn't enough to stop them winning the league and I'd also swiped all their best players. Finished off the season unbeaten in 5 so that was a bonus. Hopefully have a better tilt at promotion next season without getting punted, but this squad are also a bunch of whiny bitches..

The 2017/18 season started with a home game v Troon in the Ayrshire Cup who were beaten 2-0. Onto league action and St.Roch's were beaten by the same scoreline, had a hiccup away to Annbank who defeated us 3-1 before we rounded off the month with a 2-1 win over Petershill.

Players brought into the club and those who have left since I joined

September was a shit month. We got knocked out of the Ayrshire Cup by Beith where we fought back to 3-3 after being 3-0 and a man down due to a sending off, another player went off injured just after we equalised and they took advantage and scored again, we then drew 2-2 with Arthurlie and lost 1-0 to Cumnock. A 0-0 draw with Lochore was next up before we lost 1-0 to Craigmark Burtonians so it seems like we have forgotten how to score and the board are getting jittery with the squad being a bunch of cry babies who are whinging because I'm going through them for being shit.

October started with a return to scoring and winning beating bottom side Thorniewood United 3-1 before Ballingry gave us a 6-4 doing over in the Scottish. We then conceded a late equaliser against Greenock in a 1-1 draw. Blantyre Vics gave us an absolute hiding beating us 6-2 so I decided to jump before I was pushed.

Having an issue with screen shots but I have taken over at Lochar Thistle who are amateurs and kept them in the Fourth Division via the playoffs beating Lesmahagow at Fir Park a week after I took the job.

After a pretty mediocre first half of the season I decided to jump ship after another club's manager left, where to though?..

It's a return to Melvich!

  • 2 weeks later...

So just before the transfer window opens in January and we're probably underachieving considering the board want the title.

Think having two decent Cup runs (in semis of Highlands Cup and 4th round of Scottish) has clouded the judgement of my board and a couple of others (had interviews at Harthill and Penicuik).

We would be far worse off if it wasn't for the goals of Martin Bavidge, got to hope and pray he doesn't decide to retire soon

Got a ridiculously high transfer and wage budget for this level so using the traditional Old Firm tactic of buying anyone who has a good game against me

We played Gala Fairydean away in the 4th round of the Cup and I was hopeful of pulling off a shock but the players particularly new signing Steven Murphy had other ideas and we lost 8-3

I mean have you EVER seen a match rating of 2.9? Harthill had approached me and I asked for a week to mull it over...

but then Bathgate came in and that seemed like a better offer, even marginally so...

post-20092-0-68130000-1439399173_thumb.j

I know I had more money at Melvich but Bathgate (and Harthill) are in a better league and position.

My reign at Bathgate began with a couple of draws, I had brought in a lot of new faces so they took a lot of time to gel. After the defeat against Ballingry I decided to switch from 442 to 4231 wide and it had the desired effect with a few wins and we climbed back into the play-off positions with 2 games to go after slipping down to 8th.

Results from the last match of the season

Us conceding a late equaliser and Montrose Roselea scoring one meant the title went to Angus. Back into play-offs once more, hope I don't Dunfermline them up again

The win over Dundonald Bluebell meant we played Harthill in the next round at Broadwood who probably hated me for leaving them in the lurch and the late winner we got the last time the sides met

We did our best to Dunfermline things up chucking away a two goal lead but another late winner meant extra time wasn't necessary

post-20092-0-00280200-1439571409_thumb.j

So that meant we went back to East End Park and the semi-final against Kirkcaldy YMCA

That game was a bit of a humdinger, twice falling behind and then ending up playing with 9 men but we managed to scrape through to the final

post-20092-0-58145200-1439571734_thumb.j

The final was against Cruden Bay in front of a magnificent crowd of 543 at Tannadice Park, Dundee

We Dunfermline'd it up big time.

Far too many underperformers, time to do what I usually do and raid other teams for players who play well against. Well, that's if the board don't sack me first. The goal I was given when I took over was to reach the play-offs which we did, convincingly and we were only 1 point off the title. We made the final but apparently that's not good enough...
