Well done to Tynecastle A.F.C. and Shawbridge A.F.C. for serving up a very competitive 6pm Saturday Final at New Tinto Park. Good turn-out of supporters from both teams, who are the longest-serving clubs in the Strathclyde Saturday Morning Amateur Football League, sponsored by Stax Trades Centre this season.

Half-time 0-0. Jamie Cochrane missed a Tynecastle penalty kick, which was saved by goalkeeper Ryan Calder, who also produced a fantastic save following a free kick before the interval.

Shawbridge opened the scoring with a cracking strike from Michael Lafferty. Tynecastle equalised immediately through Steven McGlinchey, and Cochrane grabbed what proved

to be the winner inside the final 10 minutes.

Match officials were Referee Kevin Nolan, Assistants Stevie Fox and Ian Oliphant, and Fourth Official Gordon Kelso.

Many thanks to Bernie Vallely ( Tynecastle A.F.C.) for Mark Dyer ( Shawbridge A.F.C ) for confirming details of their goalscorers. Greatly appreciated.

Nice touch from Tynecastle A.F.C. in asking former manager for many years, Billy McQueer, and long-term friend and supporter of the club, Frank Reynolds, to lead out their players and officials.

Tynecastle also become first SSMAFL club to win the Strathclyde Cup three times.
