catcoach
RED STAR A.F.C., who play in the Glasgow and District Saturday Morning Amateur Football League, are seeking to sign at least one goalkeeper - preferably two - before the start of their domestic season. Manager Mark MacKay, who was a prolific goalscorer in his junior days with such clubs as Baillieston, Rob Roy, Lesmahagow, Blantyre Vics and Rutherglen Glencairn, is set for his second full season at the Glasgow East End-based club. His outfield players training is geared around working with a ball, but admitted: "The lack of having a reliable goalkeeper in the squad probably cost us the title. "I can offer anyone applying a good professional set-up. We look after players, and that includes going to Soccer World for something to eat. There will also be specialist coaching for the goalkeepers." Red Star A.F.C. are one of four clubs set to compete in the Tynecastle A.F.C. tournament at Stepford Road, Easterhouse from Saturday onwards ( 12 noon).
