dorlomin
Teams announced today. Quote Men's track squad: Steven Burke, Mark Cavendish, Ed Clancy, Owain Doull, Philip Hindes, Jason Kenny, Ryan Owens, Callum Skinner, Bradley Wiggins Women's track squad: Katie Archibald, Elinor Barker, Ciara Horne, Becky James, Katy Marchant, Joanna Rowsell-Shand, Laura Trott. Men's road: Steve Cummings, Chris Froome, Ian Stannard, Geraint Thomas, Adam Yates. Women's road: Lizzie Armitstead, Nikki Harris, Emma Pooley. Men's BMX: Kyle Evans, Liam Phillips. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36838598 Its a pretty star studded line up, Wiggens and Froome are Grand Tour winners, Lizzie Armistead has won multiple classics including 3 this year, is a former road world champion (2015) and Olympic silver medalist at the event. But it is our fasted man on two wheels (Fact) Mr Mark Cavendish who is the pick of the bunch. Second on the list of most stage wins in the history of the the Tour de France, world champion and has won the points classification on all 3 Grand Tours. We are very unlikely to come close to the 2012 medal haul but you feel a couple of golds should not be out of the question. Edited to add young Adam Yates is on our road team and currently third in the Tour, but likely to get burned further back in the mountains. ChoppeReid
Would the track sprinters not be quicker on two wheels than Cav?
Daydream
Would the track sprinters not be quicker on two wheels than Cav? They would be at track sprinting, for sure. Cav has to ride 200k before he does his sprints.
