Both sides were determined to just hoof the ball first half. Soft penalty but would have been wanting it at the other end! Todorov did well at centre half I thought.

Delighted to get 3 points. Players worked damn hard and it would have been unfair on them if that late Mo chance had went in

When we played football we were streets ahead - Montrose only looked like scoring from dead balls. Thought Renton was excellent again and Robertson came onto a good game. Glen too has been looking useful in last couple of games

Glen got a tap in header and a miscontrol to deceive the defender and set up the 2nd.

Dont be fooled, he has a lot to do to show his worth.

renton was decent and we were the better side over the 90.

Something to build on.

Baby steps today.  We played the ball to feet and passed it OK without threatening as much as we have in previous away games.

Back 2 did well and actually looked like a partnership when they were covering for each other. We still have a tendency to stay deep when not in posession which invites teams on but Montrose didn't look threatening at all.

Murrell was only on the pitch a few minutes but he has some serious toughening up to do by the looks of it.

Onwards and upwards.

Think fans are being a bit meh. I thought Cowden were a zillion times better today and tried to play football for almost the whole game.

Defence looked much more solid. Todorov apart from a few shall we say centre forward lazy moments was good and he played a pass out of defence no hoofball. Gerry sweeped up well and they communicated.

Robertson kept everyone going in midfield.

Renton again was my MOM and player of the season so far. Apart from blazing one over the bar today yet again he fought for every ball for 90 mins. I just wish his mates would gamble more coz he wins nearly every first ball.

Well deserved 3 pts. If Montrose stole an equaliser at the end it would have been criminal.

Apart from at the very end and we sat on the lead a bit and allowed the moment in injury time when they hit the bar and McGurn saved the resulting header it was comfortable.

Who else thought the challenge on Kyle was maybe a red card. Or that the CH ought to have talked himself off the park.

A good win overall and now the whole squad have a place to play for.

Forgot to mention some of the challenges.  No idea why the challenge in Miller in the second half wasn't a red.  The one on Creaney in the first half should also have been red.

Basically Montrose set out their stall early doors when one of our centre-mids was completely wiped out.  Fucking hatchet men.

Not arguing with the result or the fact that your guys took a few hefty tackles but surely you admit your lot put in quite a few meaty tackles as well - hence the bookings.

Thought both teams were really poor was like watching 2 pub teams. As the game went on Montrose never looked like scoring just can't see what Hegs is doing with Millar, Ferguson, Greg and Watson sitting on the bench. Montrose were all over the place at the back and were lucky not to lose a few more. Thought the number 8 was poor today although it was his first game

8 was poor on the ball but wouldn't say you were all over the place at the back when 6 your sweeper was your best player. Would say you severely lacked quality in attack. Templeman (I think it was him) is long long past it.

It was Templeman.  Didn't realise until today he'd ended up at Montrose.  Looked a carthorse.  Made Scullion look like an athlete.

Took in this game yesterday in the beautiful Angus sunshine. Enjoyed the homemade lentil soup at the ground.

Unfortunately the fare served up on the pitch was not so appetizing. A pretty brutal first half in which the ball spent as much time in the air as on the artificial surface. The half ended with a dubious penalty won and converted by Gary Fraser and then cancelled out by a Gary Glen bullet header.

The game was settled by a second half goal from Kris Renton after a bad mistake by the Montrose centre half (Bolo?).

Montrose huffed and puffed but all to no avail. A late flurry with a couple of long throws and corners, a shot narrowly past the post and one that hit the bar the best they could muster.

The strange thing was that despite being behind and having to chase the game Montrose made little or no attempt to do so. Like for like subs at right back and right midfield changed nothing despite fact that a change up front and in centre mid would have been obvious to the proverbial blind man on a galloping horse!

They simply confined to shell the ball long to the largely immobile Templeman up front. Hynd and Fraser swapped positions in last 10 but that was it.

Cowdenbeath were poor but somehow Montrose managed to be poorer.

But at least the sun shone and the soup was good!

The no 8 is on loan from D utd and is a right back. Says it all that he was playing in midfield
