Guest mabozza ricci Posted March 25, 2003 Share Posted March 25, 2003 How in the name of Daffy Duck does the German hired-hand justify polluting our national squad with Englsh cast-offs and Old Firm bench boys? This guy is draughting half a mil out of this country and for what, to make us a laughing stock? It doesnt take a genius to work out that his recent additions to the pool are neither a)going to strengthen it or b)tell us anything we dont already know. What message does this send to the likes of James McFadden, Garry O'Connor, Kevin Harper (whos playing dynamite for Pompey this year) as well as guys like Scott Severin , Russell Anderson, Iain Murray and Barry Nicholson, who might not be the best in the world (in fact, make that ARE NOT the best in the world) but are the most consistent performers in OUR national league, given that they all a) comand regular starts for their clubs (and in the case of Anderson, Severin and Murray, are either captain or vice-captain at their clubs) and b)represent what the future holds for the game in this country. I for one feel this is pure short-termism by Berti Vogts, the next World Cup qualifiers begin in just 18 months time and so far we have only seen four 'new' internationals in the squad yet, in the shape of Crawford, Thompson Wilkie and Ross.
