Hawaii Five O

For me, the original Hawaii Five O was a big disappointment.
It had an excellent them song but that was about it.
I bought the box set for the first season and thought every episode dull.
The characters are wooden and we learn nothing about them.
They are all dressed in suits (In Hawaii - seriously?)
One episode has Ricardo Montalban (a Mexican) playing the part of somebody who supposed to be Japanese.

As an aside, apparently when Jack Lord died - nobody went to his funeral.
I am delighted he never got to play Captain Kirk.

Having demolished the original series, the reboot is a million times better.
The four main characters have the same names as the original series but that's about it.
The characters are developed, although it is mainly episodic - there are ongoing storylines.
The main character is a little bit odd and the constantly bickering between the main two characters is great.

On one disc, there is an episode that is a re-make of the original series and both episodes are on the same disc.
What a contrast!
Just watches an episode that includes flashbacks to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.  Really well done.

My missus loves the new version. Watch it occasionally with her but wouldn't class it as any better than OK. Surprisingly large number of terrorists/armed robbers/human traffickers/yakuza in Hawaii, is about all I have taken from it.
