Falcons @ Eagles, Opening Night

After 214 days of no gridiron action the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons as the 2018 NFL season kicks off at Lincoln Financial Field.

The big news is that Nick Foles is expected to be the Eagles starting QB as Carson Wentz still hasn’t been cleared by action. Foles was MVP in the Superbowl victory and Philly apparently rejected a few interesting trade offers over the summer for the 6th year pro out of Arizona. The Eagles are led by Doug Pederson who is in his 3rd season as Head Coach and didn’t add much over the off-season with WR Mike Wallace and DT Haloti Ngata there highest profile additions. Indeed they didn’t have a 1st round pick this season and took Dallas Goedert (TE, South Dakota State) in the middle of the 2nd round.

The Falcons were defeated by the Eagles in the Divisional round of the playoffs last season and will again be led by Matt Ryan at QB and Julio Jones at WR. Atlanta also added Alabama WR Calvin Ridley in the 1st round of the draft out of Alabama who some rated the best wideout in this years draft.

I for one can’t wait for this the season start, it’s been a long summer.
