Bring Back Paddy Flannery
I'm off to the Lake District for a week in my van tomorrow and it looks like parking (particularly overnight parking) will be a bit of a nightmare. Does anyone have any experience of touring in the Lakes in a van or motorhome and if so did you manage to overnight park in any of the National Trust carparks? They seem to run about 90% of the carparks and charge £7.50 for the day (which then resets at midnight) which I don't mind paying, but would be a bit seething if I paid it and got moved on. I tend to be out on a location for sunrise so being able to park next to a spot I'm photographing is a massive benefit. FWIW I normally book a couple of campsites during a trip to get a shower etc but most of the ones in decent spots have a 3 day minimum stay, which is nae use for me. I'll probably just turn up at one or two and see if they can acommodate me but they seem pretty strict on the 3 night minimum stay thing, even in winter. Any advice around decent campsites or 'off grid' parking spots is welcome.
