Burnie_man
No teaser today. Really nothing much of interest happened on this day in history. For those who are interested, I have now started doing research on Bo'ness Cadora & the short-lived Bo'ness side that won the East of Scotland League before the war. Ultimate aim will be to research a complete picture of Senior & Junior football in Bo'ness going as far back as possible. The Bo'ness FC team that played in the Scottish League are the same club as the one that played in the East of Scotland League pre-war, they ended up there after leaving the SFL, and then of course merged with Cadora to form United.

Indeed. What I meant to say was that their East of Scotland League history was short-lived. The club had been without a League when playing Hamilton Accies in the Scottish Cup in 1938. They lost a lot of money despite winning the EOSL in 1939 and there were serious considerations of applying for Division 2 again but of course the war put paid to those plans being fully developed.
Jambo'ness
1968 now and a match played in gale force winds at home to Bonnybridge. The visitors played with the wind in the first half and turned round a goal up. Nobody could foresee the events of the second half, as the BU's netted seven without reply, including a hat-trick by 'big' Joe McMeechan and doubles from Tony McCandless and Brian Watson. Final score 7-1 The team was: Crawford, McGuinness, McCandless, McMeechan, Gray, McQueen, Bernard, Simpson, McDonald, J Sneddon, Watson Quote Edit
HibeeJibee
Bo'ness FC were expelled from SFL part way through 1932-33 for failing to pay gate guarantees (same happened to Armadale). They played in the Scottish Alliance in 1933-34, effectively the SFL top division reserve league but including a few first-team clubs... joined the Edinburgh & District League in 1934-35, but that league collapsed with clubs joining the EOS League... entered the new Scottish Combination, a motley collection of first-team clubs and reserve teams, for 1935-36 and 1936-37... no league at all in 1937-38... then joined the EOS League until the start of WWII.

Jambo'ness
We go to 1950 now and a St Michaels Cup tie against Armadale Thistle. Volunteer Park was closed at this time and so they played their 'home' tie at Firs Park, Falkirk. The BU's ran out fine 4-0 winners, boosted by the return of Willie Gardiner who had missed the previous 8 matches. He scored a double with Harry Clark and John McGuigan netting the others. The team was: Graham, Tennant, Thomson, Hogg, Dick, McKie, Jamieson, Clark, Gardiner, Rodgers, McGuigan Edited March 18, 2019 by Jambo'ness

Jambo'ness
More recent times as we go to 2011 and a Junior Cup 6th Round clash with Bonnyrigg Rose, at Newtown Park. This was predicted to be a tight game and so it proved until near the break, when on-loan Hamilton centre-back Brian McQueen netted twice. The Bu's were then on top and Chris McFadyen bagged a brace in the second half. Final score 4-0. The team was: Longmuir, Snowdon, Hunter, Duffin, McQueen, Fraser, McLaren (Hamilton), Shirra (Donald), McFadyen, Walker, Plenderleith (Ure)
