035 Davie Menelaws: bouncing back at Bellshill, scoring at 42 & being told about Carluke axe at WWE

BELLSHILL ATHLETIC are one of three teams riding high in the West of Scotland League’s Conference A.

But they needed their 42-year-old assistant boss to grab their last ditch winner to keep them there in their last outing.

Manager Derek Wilson reckons right-hand man Davie Menelaws no longer has the legs to play from the start.

We’ll find out just what Davie thinks of that as he joins us on the show this week.

The pair only took charge at Rockburn Park in April.

But after bringing in a host of new players they’ve masterminded an impressive start to the season.

We’ll speak to Davie about how they’ve sparked things.

A man of many clubs as a player, first in the seniors then the juniors, we’ll also look back at those days.

We hear about the game that Davie hoped could make him as a player - but ended up with a leg break that left him fearing for his career.

Davie tells us why he's convinced the days of the £100,000 player are coming back now the West of Scotland League has been set up.

There's the night he headed to watch WWE wrestling at the Hydro - only to learn he and Derek were being axed as the management team at Carluke Rovers.

Plus we look at the match-ups in the WOSFL this weekend, which include Premier League leaders Clydebank going to Darvel.

It’s all here as we go Down The Divisions.
