Great strike from Lee Lynch to clinch the points last night, thought it was a thoroughly deserved win for the Reds, the signing of Lee Bonis (a few raised eyebrows at the fee) has definitely given them a boost. (don’t know how he missed the headed chance in the first half though!) The Inver Park faithful must be ruing some of the points they wasted back in Nov/Dec. On current form they should have been in the mix with the top three.
A disappointing halt in the Glen’s impressive run, but they’ve shown enough in recent weeks to suggest they can go all the way to winning their first title since 2009.
Can never rule out Linfield, even when they’re just grinding results out, and Cliftonville can look brilliant on their day but have their careless moments too. Despite last nights defeat, still think the Glens have the side this season to finish in top Spot. Don’t know if you like the occasional flutter@Jacksgranda but who would your money be on right now?

Much as I'd like to see Glentoran win it, I think Linfield will retain their title.

Linfield capitalised the day, beating Portadown.

Some game at Ballymena, 3-3 and 3 red cards.

Carrick lose again, @Clockwork :(

Coleraine match at Milltown postponed (as was Cliftonville's last night at Stangmore Park).

Another hugely frustrating injury time goal (90+6) to deny what apparently would have been a hard fought and deserved point for The Ambers at Seaview. Only themselves to blame though on seeing a clip of the goal though; a hopeful 60 yard punt straight down the middle, no one challenging the second bounce as Kennedy hooked in the winner. Disappointing but unfortunately typical of how Rangers have conceded sloppy goals and gifted points this season!☹️

Just two games surviving the weather in the Championship this afternoon. Annagh United & HW Welders shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the BMG Arena. In an evenly matched contest, Welders went in front through a Jordan Campbell own goal in added time before the break, Adam Carrol equaliser for the home side on 53 minutes. Further clear cut chances limited for both sides until United sub Pete Duffin missed a great opportunity to steal the points in the closing minutes, Annagh by then down to 10 men after Ryan Harpur’s straight red following a reckless challenge on 83.
More late drama at Wilgar Park after a scrappy game exploded in the last ten minutes. Ryan Morrow sent off for Ballinamallard on 84, Craig Farquhar then putting Dundela in front on 89 minutes and looking as though he’d secured a surprise win against the high flying Ducks, only to be denied by a Mark Stafford last gasp equaliser in added time.
It’s as you were at the Top and Bottom of the table, Leaders Newry City at home to 3rd placed Annagh United looks a tasty contest in one of two Friday evening games this coming Friday, Dergview take on Ards at Darragh Park in the other fixture.

For a dust up in tunnel after the Glens game at Seaview back in January when Robinson perhaps went a little further than just offering Baxter a ‘square go’? emoji15.png

Really?

Should have asked my Crues supporting mate about it, he might have had some info.

Wow, some result in the Championship last night, as 2nd placed Annagh United showed every intention of catching leaders Newry City with a 3-0 nil away win at the Showgrounds. All the damage done in the first half, with goals from, Stephen Murray (3), Aaron Rogers (23) & Adam Carroll (35). United even managed time to have Chris Stewart sent off on 42 (straight red). Newry unable to break down 10 men after the interval as Annagh move within a point of them having played a game more.

H&W Welders Vs Loughgall probably the pick of the games later this afternoon.

Round up on yesterday’s Championship action; a surprise result perhaps at the Brandywell as struggling Institute put in a fine performance to come from behind to beat third place Ballinamallard 2-1. Benny McLaughlin cancelling BJ Banda’s 15th minute opener on 38 minutes, before going on to seal the points, with a deflected cross finding its way in to the back of the net on 58. A huge relief for the Stute support, with a result that now provides some real breathing space (8pts) between them and bottom side Queens University.
With 3 wins in their last four games Queens contain to scrap and battle against relegation with a hard fought point a Dixon Park away at Ballyclare. Kyle Beggs on the mark for The Comrades on 22, a Leon Bones header on 30 minutes equalising for the visitors, the game finishing one apiece.
Elsewhere, 4th spot H&W Welders welcomed 5th place Loughgall to The Blanchflower Stadium. Welders went in front with a Micheal McLellan diving header within 15 minutes, Nathaniel Ferris returning the favour to draw level just after the break. The popular Centre forward then repeated the feat with a glancing header for a last minute winner, taking all three points back down the road to Armagh, 1-2.
In an entertaining mid table clash, Dergview and Ards finishes 2-2 at Darragh Park, Matt Kirk & Niall Fielding on the scoresheet for Tommy Canning’s side, Chris Crane and Ross Arthur’s on target for Ards under new boss Matthew Tipton. Credit to all those involved in ensuring the game went ahead given how much water the pitch was under just a few days ago.
In the remaining fixture Knockbreda suffered a fourth consecutive defeat to neighbours Dundela in East Belfast (pic). Breda went in front direct from a corner on 13 only to surrender their lead on 26 to a well taken equaliser by Eoghan McCawl, Centre Half Craig Farquhar with a towering header on 64 securing a 2-1 win.
Annagh United can go top next weekend if they can win at basement side QUB, with current leaders Newry City involved in a fascinating cup quarter final away at Premiership leaders Glentoran.

Glentoran, Cliftonville, Larne and Portadown all win and Coleraine and Ballymena draw. Coleraine missed a second penalty.

Glentoran were twice behind against Glenavon at Mourneview but stormed back to win 4-2, and go top.

Cliftonville saw off 10 man Crusaders in the north Belfast derby, 3-1 to the Reds. Cliftonville go second.

2-0 to Larne at Stangmore Park, and a vital win for Portadown in the relegation clash with Warrenpoint Town, 1-0 to the Ports, their third win of the season and all against Point.

Big game in midweek between Carrick and the Ports.

Best result in weeks having Friday night’s game at home to Linfield called off, lol![emoji6] In all seriousness huge game for Carrick’s fragile confidence on Wednesday at Taylor’s versus Portadown. The proverbial six pointer, a reasonably comfortable 9 point stretch or a nervy 3 point gap. Gotta be honest, the way the Ambers have been defending recently, I’d snap your hand off right now, for a point.@Jacksgranda

The only team Portadown have defeated in the league this season is Warrenpoint Town

Coleraine score a late goal to grab a home draw with Larne, 1-1 at the Showgrounds.

Keeps Coleraine in the top half, 5 points ahead of Ballymena, who have a game in hand.

Carrick v Portadown is next Tuesday, not tonight as I thought, obviously picked up the radio wrong on Saturday.

Carrick v Linfield this Friday.

You didn’t pick it up wrong@Jacksgranda our game Vs Portadown was listed for tonight but pushed back to accommodate the rearranged fixture Vs Linfield. Was hoping to get back home, but going to take a ticket for the Sheffield United Vs Forest game on Friday night then go to the Ballyclare game at Ards on Saturday afternoon.

Glad to know I'm not going completely senile!

Enjoy your games!
