Jacksgranda
This thread is going to get very messy if you include all the Alpine countries, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Germany, Slovenia Leichtenstein and Monaco

It should be covered by it's own. I know about Swiss football and German but not the rest and it would be too many to keep up with haha.
A_Veitch
Lugano 0 - 5 Young Boys - Four goals by Siebatcheu, fairly comfortable win for Young Boys. expected much more from Lugano than to be beaten heavily. Basel 2 - 2 Grasshoppers - Eventful game that could have gone either way. Grasshopper had shot blocked off the line at 2-1 and Basel hit the post at 2-2 at the end. Espisoto was sent off in the 90th minute when Basel was 2-1 down. Sion 2 - 0 Lausanne - Looks like it's turning into a three way race to avoid the bottom two (one automatic relegation, one playoff).

How did Liam Millar play for Basel?

A_Veitch
Luzern are bottom but have history on their side apparently as I saw a stat where only 72% teams bottom at Christmas get relegated here. That sounds like a very high survival rate. There can't be too many other countries with such a high number when it comes to this. A_Veitch
9 out of 10 Super League clubs have canceled their training camp trips due to covid. Zurich are the only ones to confirm they haven't cancelled their camp but I imagine they will as well. A_Veitch
Eight days until the return of swiss domestic football. Not looking forward to it Xamax are a mess we have sold our best player and the coach is arguing with the owner. If we don't get it sorted I can see us being favourites for relegation next season.

A_Veitch
Zurich will win the league this weekend if they at least take a draw against Basel. Lausanne look certs to be going down into the Challenge League as they sit 7 points adrift at the bottom. Luzern most likely in the playoffs. The real excitement is in the Challenge League as 6 points separate the top 4. Winterthur sit top of the league with 5 games remaining. Schaffhausen would be the real story though if they won it 12 months ago they lost their licence to professional football only to win it back on appeal.
A_Veitch
Zurich won the league by 14 points over FC Basel. Zurich had a crowd of 32,000 for the game they lifted the league trophy... I wish we had crowds like this more often Lugano won the swiss Cup with a 4-1 win over St Gallen. This is Lugano first trophy in 29 years. They'll be joined in the conference league by Young Boys and Basel. In the Challenge League Winterthuer won promotion to the top league for the first time in 40 years. Luzern beat Schaffhausen 4-2 on aggregate to remain in the Super League. The big story is that starting from the 2023/24 the Super League will be moving to 12 teams. Meaning there will be no direct relegation next season as 10th will play whoever finishes 3rd in the Challenge League for the last ticket. The one thing I don't agree with is the top two at the end of the league season will play a best of 3 series to decide the champion. I'm okay if the SFL want to copy Austria but the league title being decided by a head to head series sounds stupid to me. Young Boys rejected the proposal but weirdly Basel voted for it. A_Veitch
Bellinzona won the promotion league (3rd tier) after beating Stade Nyonnais 2-1 whilst Breitenrain who had lead the league for the majority of the season lost to FC Zurich's 2nd team. Bellinzona are a good supported team in Ticino so i'd rather see them up than Breitenrain who are essesintally Young Boys 2nd team.
