A child's chance of becoming a football player may already be decided by the time they are just 5 or 6. But what about the late developers? Steve Archibald, Brian McClair and John Collins are just three examples of players who didn't start to break through until their teens. All went on to become international stars. Do we really want to write off the smaller ball players, and the communities who have always provided some of Scottish football's most exciting players?
