SLClyde
Every team outwith the old firm is far more likely to give their youngsters a chance than them. A handful of appearances in the first team in fairly meaningless games isn’t justification for the LL to keep letting them in, or for the lower SPFL to open up and let them in. Rangers and Celtic won’t ever give youth a chance, they haven’t done for years. Bring back the reserve league, and also punt B teams out of the challenge cup.

Some of my favourite games I've seen were reserve games. Even remember ditching school on occasion to watch Aberdeen & Dundee United scrap at station park.

One of the best goals I ever saw was scored in a reserve game - Tommy Craig against Hibs at the Beach End.

The clubs taking part play one game a month for the season and most clubs don’t actually submit a team. It’s a reserve league in name only, but I’m guessing you’re aware of that and are trying to look smart.

There is a reserve league, albeit a small one consisting of full-time clubs. There is also a cup, which pads it out a bit. I remember going to a Hearts vs Hibs title decider at Tynecastle one night after school in the old reserve league. They thought they'd get all the hearts fans into the old main stand but as we got halfway up the stairs the seats ran out, some panicked and we were hastily escorted into the Gorgie end. Ended up with 6,500 in the stadium. Andy Kirk scored 4, a young right back by the name of R Neilson bossed the show, the Hibs keeper Ole Gots.... (The Finnish lad!) was given and giving banter it to Hearts fans behind the goals and Stuart Callaghan played the most amazing trick shot off the stantions that holds up the Wheatfield stand that I doubt will ever be repeated! It was actually a brilliant night out that costs us very little and shows there is potential for a decent league if the clubs were able to organise it all properly
