Quentin Taranbino
In the championship, lots of Scotland or Scottish eligible players on show today; Ryan Porteous starts for Watford against Coventry who have Luis Binks on the bench Swansea have Azeem Abdulai, Jon McLaughlin and Jay Fulton on the bench vs Norwich who start Angus Gunn and Kenny McLean. Amongst the subs are Grant Hanley and Gabriel Forsyth. Sheffield Wednesday start with Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer with Callum Paterson on the bench. They play QPR who have Karamoko Dembele playing and Harrison Ashby is a substitute. Ryan Hardie is the only Scot involved in Plymouth vs Sunderland and he only makes the bench. Tommy Conway and Hayden Hackney start for Middlesbrough vs Preston. Ben Doak does not, he is on the bench however. David Turnbull and Craig Forsyth are both subs for their clubs as Cardiff take on Derby County Blackburn start Dominic Hyam with veteran Kyle McFadzean on the bench. They play Bristol City who name Kal Naismith as a sub. Oxford won against Stoke with Josh McEachran, Sirike Dembele and Cameron Brannagan all starting. Millwall lost against Luton and had Joe Bryan starting. Daniel Kelly was an unused substitute. Striker Joe Taylor was also an unused sub for Luton Joe Rothwell came on for Leeds as a sub but couldn't prevent them losing in the early kick off against Burnley
Alan Twelve
Liam Henderson starting against Juventus later. Fraser Hornby, and take a seat before you read this, played for the full 90 minutes for Darmstadt earlier on. Didnae score, mind, but they got a point - only their second of the season. I hope the big man can stay fit and get a good few games under his belt. David Bates played as Standard won 2-0 last night. He's surely got to be in Clarke's thinking given how poor the centre of our defence is and how few of them seem to play regularly for their clubs.
Alan Twelve
Just looking at Soccerway and there's some interesting Scottish involvement in last night's EPL u-21 matches: Callan McKenna, still only 17, in goal for Bournemouth's under 21s. They won 3-2. QPR seemingly had a Scottish trialist playing as striker for them. They beat Preston 7-1 and the trialist scored three. Wonder who that was..?

How lovely would it be if he took to the EPL like a legendary aquatic creature to water? Also makes him arguably the most elite level striker available to us (McBurnie close). Alan Twelve
Lee Erwin Watch: HJK drew 2-2, Erwin didn't score, but he did get an assist. Given that Steve Clarke considers goalscoring to be somewhat beneath forwards, Erwin must now be a shoo-in for a starting berth against Croatia.
Tartan Dave
What happened to that league one striker who we were supposedly trying to convince to play for us a year or so ago? Think he could choose us Wales or england

I watched the last 20 minutes. Doak did indeed have an impact. One run on the right hand side leading to a pass inside to set up a Conway shot but it was a really packed box - fizzed cross might have been a better option. He also should have scored. Ball was cut back to him at some pace but he couldn't quite set his feet right and got it all wrong. Still quite promising and I think Middlesbrough fans liked what they saw from the cameo. He seems really rusty at the moment, hopefully gets plenty of minutes over the next few weeks Edited September 15 by MarkoRaj
MarkoRaj
No idea why Doak's chance wasn't included in that highlights package, it was their best chance by far Edited September 15 by MarkoRaj
MarkoRaj
You love to see it. First of many linkups from those to you'd have to imagine. Gauld's second assist of the game, Armstrong had only been on the pitch 2 mins

Gauld's second assist of the game, Armstrong had only been on the pitch 2 mins "account op" You get the feeling that these two will link up really well at club level - both intelligent players with great vision. Would potentially bode well for trying to replicate at international level if we wanted to try something a little different in a friendly, with say Christie sitting a bit more deeper. But you just know it won't be a consideration at all..... Edited September 15 by Pocketman ETA did they only play one season together at Dundee Utd?
