The Naitch
My heart was in my mouth. Would have been out of nowhere as well.Kevin McDine has been absolutely breathtaking here. Barrie Bates doesn't have the game to deal with this. Flicking between this and the Arsenal game (I have money on 2-0 Arsenal with Fabregas scoring first) and McDine has been very good, wouldn't say breathtaking though - he's still got another gear in him, I reckon.
The Naitch
It was indeed a convincing win for McDine in the end, can't help but think that there's more to come from him.
DomDom
Kevin McDine didn't even play better than that in the Grand Slam. If he has a higher gear, I've yet to see it.
The Naitch
Lewis takes the first set in double quick time ... could have been different had Newton taken out his doubles.
The Naitch
Easy so far for Lewis. 2-0 up on Newton and looks like taking after McDine and going for the whitewash.
The Naitch
Newton making a bit more of things in the 3rd set ... should make it more of a contest if nothing else.
The Naitch
Effortless stuff from Lewis here, he's 3-0 up and cruising to victory.
The Naitch
Newton shows that he still has some fight in him by winning the 4th set.
northernscum
Good set that, i'm just in and it seems like i've missed a couple of good games. Hope Newton can carry this on in the next set.
The Naitch
What a 124 from Newton to take the leg ... brilliant stuff.
DomDom
Wes Newton is playing some brilliant stuff. Adrian Lewis hasn't taken the foot off too much to allow him in either. 30 180s in the session. Incredible.
northernscum
3-2 Game on now, let's see what Lewis has.
The Naitch
We have ourselves a contest ... Newton has pulled it back to 3-2.
DomDom
It's following the exact same pattern as Stompe vs. King ! I can see it ending with the same score as well as Adrian Lewis is still doing enough to win with the throw.
The Naitch
He's on a nine darter to win the match. Jeez. EDIT: Ooh, almost. Should still win it from here. Edited December 27, 2009 by The Naitch
northernscum
On the 9 darter Not! Edited December 27, 2009 by northernscum
The Naitch
Another great contest, with Lewis the 4-2 victor. Really strong standard throughout the afternoon.
northernscum
4-2 Lewis, cracking game, more of the same in the evening session please.
Ignoramus
I wonder if players like Lewis, Part, Jenkins (who will destroy Young)and possibly even Thornton have a crack at reaching the final before they're inevitably crushed by Taylor because IMO Barneveld does not have the longevity to do it over a long period anymore and Wade can crumble on a bad night(which he often has.)
DomDom
Why didn't you mention Stompe, who HAS beaten Taylor before, averaging 107+ in the process ? These players have the game to beat Taylor. So does Barneveld actually so long as he has the right mindset, but his mentality these days is shaky at best. I'm not sure if John Part can up his game quite enough to beat Taylor. Whitlock and Anderson are maybes. Robert Thornton has played his best against Taylor before and been wiped out.
