  1. Was a decent game last night. I think Raith start well again on Friday and get an early goal, killing it for Thistle. They’ll come back into it like they did last night and get an equaliser on the night, but whilst they chase a goal to level the tie they’ll get caught and Raith will get another. 2-1. I don’t think Thistle have a hand to show that Raith don’t know about, whereas Raith didn’t even use guys like Easton, Hamilton and Mullen which will probably benefit them.
  2. The boy coming from Stenny is head of media, not sure if that also involves ParsTV or not. I was thinking more social media output, graphics etc which is where the club have lacked for a number of years now since big Mikey left. The guys who do ParsTV are all volunteers I’m sure. Fair play to them for doing it but I won’t beat around the bush, it’s not great viewing or listening. A rarely bother with the post match interviews as some of the questions sound a bit silly and obvious. The guy doing co-comms is ballache, just talking for the sake of talking. Elsewhere, hopefully get an end of season update from the club today. At the supporters meeting last week James McPake was asked and said it should be confirmed within a week.
  3. Suppose it's just paper talk though isn't it. I wouldn't be shocked if it happens but I'm sure McPake had an idea of who he'd like before Mochrie and Meekison were on Utd's release list. I think even the Dundee Utd fans were surprised Mochrie didn't get a year at least.
  4. Was always impressed with Strapp but I think a Prem club could take a chance on him. One thing I always liked about Mochrie when we had him, was he was able to go by players in an effortless manner. I feel the guys we had this season were a bit more huff and puff but Mochrie could just float about and take on people.
  5. Looking forward to tuning in, caught highlights of the first leg and thought it was a good game. Would prefer an Airdrie win as I think they would beat Raith, they just have something over them. Also have some ex Pars and decent blokes in Todorov, Fordyce and McCabe. And if Thistle do win, then that's okay, just make sure you take Raith Rovers ever growing head clean off their shoulders
  6. He didn't really play, think he got injured in his first training session and went back to Dundee Utd. I think he's the one most thought would have the brightest future.
  7. I know what you're saying, and I'd fancy him to go to RR as well given he's a from Kirkcaldy, a RR supporter etc but I think there is a chance he comes to us. Lives in Dunfermline, his kid goes to our foundation programme, and where those two things are only little things I don't think it's completely off the table. Both him and Hanlon ex team mates of McPake also, however I'm sure they'll also both have played with Ian Murray. As I said, fully expect Stevenson to join RR but say that wasn't an option for him, I think he could end up with us. Sounds like Hanlon was being lined up on loan in Jan but Hibs knocked it back so the communication lines are possible already open there.
  8. Stevenson would be a fine replacement for Edwards, anyone thinking otherwise is silly. What he may lack in gut busting runs he makes up for in defensive know how and bags of experience. I may well get shot down here but whenever I've seen Logan Chalmers play I've not been overly fussed. Admittedly I missed the game at East End earlier in the season where he scored and Ayr won, so perhaps it's just been when I've seen him. Mochrie done okay with us in L1 but I think he's a bit of a luxury player. However, if you're giving me the chance of having Joe Chalmers/Paul Allan or Mochrie then I'm going with the latter every day of the week. I've always liked the look of Declan Glass too. Be lying if I said I didn't like this time of the season. I think we have a solid foundation but we need quality.
  9. Aye I felt he was a bit like that, however I've also seen him do it a few times and he was quite similar. I think he thought he might have been coming along to more of a grilling than he's got previously but the nature of the questions were all pretty decent, some roaster questions, people asking a football manager "have you ever considered a pressing game" was wild. Seen enough from Cammy Kerr playing for Inverness this season, don't think he's better than Comrie. He also comes across as one of those decent honest pro types, a bit like Comrie and I want some thugs signed up to be fair, like that season we were powder-puff and our first signing of the next window was Jason Talbot who had only recently decapitated Sam Nicholson. Aye I heard this too.
  10. We lost one game and you lost none, that’s the difference. If we didn’t lose to Montrose we’d also be invincible’s regardless of how many draws. I actually think a team more like Raith or Thistle would have a better chance of going unbeaten in League One. Dundee Utd were very predictable with the best players available. I don’t think many teams in L1 would have kept up with Raith when they were at their best. Anyway, it’s all if’s, buts and maybe’s.
  11. Courier reporting that we're "weighing up summer moves for Hibs legends Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson".
  12. Well that’s a bit of a silly question because we’ll never know. It’s a great achievement for Falkirk, but don’t forget we only lost one league game on our way to lifting the L1 title last season, so perhaps it’s not as difficult as we think.
  13. Was at the supporters meeting tonight. Nothing major but one takeaway was that Aberdeen have been watching Fagan-Walcott at every home game (at least) since he joined which is a gutter. Hopefully their new manager doesn’t fancy him. Decent night, Cook, McPake and Hammy spoke well.
  14. Winning four cup ties doesn't mean you have a Championship ready squad though does it. Last season when we won the league, we played Arbroath away in the League Cup and battered them 5-1, then went to Thistle in the Scottish Cup and drew 1-1, going out on penalties. Did those results mean we had a Championship level squad? No. I'd actually say we still don't have a Championship level squad. We have some good players but in terms of the squad, no which is exactly the same for Falkirk. Too many guys with a few Championship appearances here and there, or ones that hide when the going gets tough, something Falkirk didn't have to deal with this season. Just had a look at the Falkirk squad, outside of Brad Spencer, Callum Morrison there's not anyone in there that jumps out at me, the boy Miller and Henderson are decent but I'd be lying if I said there were loads of Championship level quality in there. Had the pleasure of watching the majority of that Falkirk team four times last season where guys like Nesbitt, Donaldson, Henderson, Mackie went missing. Like I said, a few additions and I'm sure you'll have a fine season, maybe the invincible season will help with recruitment and general belief but the Championship is a different kettle of fish.
