Rory Brian told the club he was going back to Australia at the end of that season. It was his decision. That won’t stop the same 3 or 4 folk prattling on about how we should’ve kept him, though.

Presumably Murray will go, then. It’s good to see us holding out for a fee rather than stepping aside and allowing whichever club fancies them to come in and take them. Murray is a strange one. I don’t think he’s ever done badly, but I don’t really know which position is his best. Looked out of place at right back, unnatural at left back and we conceded loads of goals with him at centre half. I’d be more than happy for him to stay on with us, mostly because he has played anywhere and everywhere across the back four and with a small squad we need that versatility, but I don’t really know where we should play him. Stepped up to captain really well to be fair to him, and seems like a natural leader in the squad. Hope he stays. Sort of.

You're right, I don't disagree with anything you or indeed Bill has said. Perhaps leaving it out of an interview which is going to go out to thousands of people, including the player himself, would've been a more diplomatic move.

To give the fans 40 minutes worth of information in the close season and explain why each thing thus far has happened; both individually and in its entirety is top drawer transparency. Hard to really ask for more. I’ll sign up for the new fund when it comes into existence. I don’t get to as many home games as I’d like because of work but this will make me feel much less guilty about it, and I’m not realistically going to miss the £10 or £20 per month. All been pretty positive so far. Looking forward to seeing who the four signings are, and what happens beyond that. The only caveat I'd add to that is there was no need to give Buchanan the "legs have gone" chat as seen in that screenshot. He was already released, he was a cracking professional who gave his all for the club over two years and he scored 1 in 3 whilst playing in a side who rarely played to his strengths. I've certainly no ill will towards him, rather I wish him every success in his future playing career.

Gillespie is yet another player at Raith Rovers who suffered from being shoehorned into a position that he’s not comfortable in. Playing right back for large spells plus injury stopped him being as influential as I think he could’ve been, but he showed on several occasions that he had quality.

I’ll be a bit pissed off if we let Gillespie go to Airdrie. A midfield of him, Matthews and Hendry would be comfortably good enough for this level. Perhaps it suits him more in terms of travel, right enough.
