He did the same v East Fife in the play offs. Absolute weirdo behaviour

Last seen being summoned to see the referee after yesterday’s game. Referee supervisor also in attendance. Supervisor was surrounded by Clyde directors after the game - suspect they were trying to persuade him not to include the guy’s antics in their report.

  3. No game for us today, so went along to Olivebank to see Musselburgh v Berwick.

Strange one in that Musselburgh were the far better team for the vast majority of the 120 minutes, yet Berwick were still in the tie right till the end. Not sure if the Burgh had anyone missing up-front, but had they had a striker who could hit the target this could genuinely have been about 6-0. Great celebration when they finally did score with about 5 minutes left of ET.

Decent crowd - maybe about 250, and credit to a sizeable travelling support from Berwick. Good day out at a very trim ground - and a bonus with the nicest pie of the season so far!

  4. Haha - love the title!

Think we’re all looking forward to this one with trepidation too after last Saturday’s ‘Fun Day’ at Stenny.

Been genuinely impressed by us since Aggy came in, but really struggling with injuries just now. No Grant Gallagher, Matty Yates, Kyle Girvan, Dean Hawkshaw, and Cammy Williamson and Ginge McDonald toiling. That apart, we should still have been a lot better at Ochilview.

Suspect we may be along the same lines as second half last Saturday.

Sounds like Stenny were magnificent and we had a bad day. I expected a toughy, but with our current form i hoped we might edge it. I guess we have we have to put this one down as a lesson, and try and bounce back next week.

We were awful - a team brimfull of individual errors all over the park and players operating out of position. Simply too many players out injured. We went into the international break hoping that the time off would allow one or two of the injured to return. Instead today we actually had more players missing. Thoroughly deserved win for Stenny.

I think the highlight of the game was the microphone malfunction at the start and then the very audible "f**k off" from the announcer woman.

East Fife’s announcer malfunctions are hilarious. Last season she left it switched on throughout the game and we were treated to her blethering with somebody!

Well it’s gonna be a good albeit long day out today. New ground today in the town of the prison and fish if there are any left. It was a great result 2 weeks ago against Elgin and it was only a matter of time that after our time in SPFL 2 that we were going to have a good day against someone and it was Elgin who were on the receiving end. It was great for the 3 players who scored who scored their first Rose goal that day. We have got more accustomed to this League and it will be a great gauge of our progress when have our second away game of the two teams relegated last season. 1pt gained at 4.50pm this afternoon would be great.

    C’mon The Rose 🌹🌹🌹

If they still do the Stovies in the Peterhead Social Club make sure you give them a try!

  8. Yes, last season’s two visits to Ochilview were a real let-down after our previous impressive form there! Can’t praise our start to the league season too highly and we have looked impressive for at least a spell in every game. Be a bit surprised if Aggy changes anything much from the line-up that started against Peterhead, although if Grant Gallagher is fit he might consider him. Please keep Matty Yates on the bench Stenny - an impressive young player for us, and you looked to have brought him on last season.

What the feck is going on with the Peterhead “penalty”???? Defender wrestles the striker to the ground and the striker is booked for diving. I can’t even imagine what it is that the referee has seen (or not seen) to come up with that decision.

I wasn’t that sure that it was a penalty, but it clearly was not a dive. We also had a player booked for going down in the box in the first half - referees need some awareness that if an incident isn’t a penalty, it doesn’t automatically mean that the attacking player dived.

  10. Agree it was more comfortable than 2-1 suggests - only a short pass back 7 minutes into injury time gave Peterhead their goal.

First half we ran the show, and had Josh Walker scored late in the half it would have been game over, following earlier goals from Tam Orr and Kyle Fleming. Second half we managed it well until that late mistake. Should Peterhead have had a penalty when the big number 22 went down (he was booked for diving), and should we have had a penalty when Olly McDonald looked to have been clipped from behind (Aggy thought so and he was red-carded for advising the referee so)?

Second half was mostly game management, but we did it pretty well. Peterhead reminded me a wee bit of us last season - some very decent passing football with nothing on the end of it.

    A very good win.

  11. Long trek for Rory McAllister and Peterhead this Saturday as they come to Stair Park.

Was a bit surprised by their loss on Saturday, but still think they will provide our toughest test of the season so far.

Be surprised if we change our line-up from the eleven that started against Clyde. This season it looks as if we have players on the bench who can come on and change games for us, and who could easily be in the starting eleven.

I know not many of us go to Balmoor, but those that do enjoy the day out - many planning to make the trip down?

Rose took the lead through one of the most laugable penalties you'll see all season. Faye had the ball in the box and a Forfar defender looked like he may challenge, in close proximity. Faye tumbled to the ground like a Jenga tower constructed at last orders by a gang of jakeys. Reliably malfunctioning refereeing algorithm Gavin Duncan bought these theatrical junk bonds and pointed to the spot. No one in the ground could quite believe it; Faye's sprawl was about as convincing as a £27 note with Chic Young's head on it. Martyniuk's penalty was deadly, hit very powerfully low into the right hand corner, 1-0.

    Loved this description Ivo!!

Any recommendations on places to eat after the game in Stranraer?

Craignelder, but you’ll need to book.

One of our guys put up a photo of his burger in a place called The Pub last week - it looked like a feast.

The Pavilion Bar at Stair Park for a juice before the game.

So it’s another trip across the Forth today and on to the home of the bridie. Surely the game will be better than last Saturdays. We had a good record against the Loons last season and hopefully that will continue today. We have scored the first goal in the last 2 games which helps I am sure Robbie would like us to go on and score 2 goals which would be massive. . I don’t expect many goals today and if we return to Boomtown still unbeaten in the League I will be happy.

Rose seemed to have Stranraer and Forfar in their pocket last season - be interested to see if that continues today

According to the weather forecast, there should be no problems tomorrow and conditions should be ideal for a good game. Why then would the SFA send an Edinburgh referee to Peterhead to take charge of a game involving an Edinburgh team? We must have fallen out  with the referee's department again. Fully expect to have a Dumfriesshire ref for the next two away games at Stranraer and Annan.

Stranraer isn’t in Dumfriesshire, but you’re spot-on with the ineptitude of the SFA with regard to refereeing appointments!

  16. As for Stranraer, I felt we were the better team for most of the game and created a few chances in the first half. After the break, Elgin changed their shape and I thought that we did really well to press them back for a while. Last 10, we brought on subs and just ensured the game stayed at 1-0. Very decent first day result, and a good display from James Dolan.

Do Elgin produce a highlights package?

Didn’t think there was too much in the game but we didn’t create much. Will take time for a team to gel but would be worried if this was the squad for the season. Have heard there are potentially a couple more players coming in.

Thought Elgin looked a bit like us last season, lots of hustle and bustle, but no threat up front.

  18. Shortage of match topics on here, so let’s start one!

League opening-day sees us getting one of our long days out with a ‘nice’ summery trip to Borough Briggs.

Looking forward to this one in the way everybody always gets excited about the first game, I.e., before reality sinks in after a few games.

Grounds for a bit of optimism for us after a real grind for the last couple of seasons, but, in spite of everyone’s predictions got a feeling that this will be a toughie on Saturday. Still, it will be sunny eh?

There have been a few club's fans who found it quicker to fly to Belfast and get the ferry for Stranraer away instead of taking the bus or train, Ross County in particular but others too. Last time I looked the flights are much cheaper to Belfast or Dublin than the train is to Wales from up here. I get that it's different if you're paying for a coach load of players or fans though.

Have never heard of any other club’s fans doing this other than County on one occasion a good few years back. Having done that then they just don’t bother coming now apart from about 14 hardy souls (credit to them) last weekend.

Would I be right to assume that the club support the introduction of the Conference League?

Feels like it has been radio silence from the club, and from a pure financial self-interest I could see them going for it.

If we were to end up as team 42 I certainly wouldn't watch them in a Conference League.

Me neither - hope they appreciate fans’ feelings
