  1. No need to ask I heard 1st hand what went on. Prior to going on holiday the groundsman at the time (John Murray iirc) left clear and concise instructions on what the aggregates and layers were to be but it was ignored and spoil from the building site at Seafield was used instead. All the good grade topsoil went to the expensive houses gardens at Seafield and the crap was used to level the pitch.
  2. Given the crap drainage at SP since the pitch was levelled in the 90's I think there'll be a shedload of work still to be done before the plastic arrives. If in doing so they discover graver issues (as Sim alluded to in his interview) it might take even longer and cost a lot more.
  3. In an ideal world..... There are probably a hundred or more facets about the club I would prefer were different, I'm getting past caring to be honest.
  4. As it's only been proven in the civil case not the criminal one that mean Goodwillie is technically only a wee bit rapey?
  5. I wouldn't get too worried, it'll never happen. I partly agree with you but it's pretty much the way of the modern football world, look at Aberdeen building a new stadium at Kingswells to the west of the city. Stirlings Forthbank and St Johnstones McD park are as soulless as it gets but would you say StMirren or Falkirk's souless too? The thing is Starks Park is already on the edges of the town as it is, if you live up the Gallatown (I do and I walk it 2.5 miles both ways every home game) or in Dysart it's almost as far away as it could be in Kirkcaldy and if you are coming from Glenrothes it certainly is. We refer the High St as the town centre but it's only that figuratively speaking. Population wise most of Kdy's residents live well over a mile from the stadium. If we were to move it could be as much a walk to the ground from the bust station as it could potentially be to just about any other point on the outskirts from existing bus routes. Modern Stadia need space with room for hospitality, parking and training facilities and thats rarely available in the town. I'm a traditionalist at heart and would love to stay put but I recognise the financial need for change and so my own preference would now be for a Falkirk style stadium at the Randolph road between the Redhouse roundabout, Standing Stane Rd. At some future point I think the boundaries of Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes eventually will blur and merge and then you could have a community stadium complex still in the middle of things. There's 50,000 in Kdy and 40,000 in G'rothes we really should be tapping that resource better, attracting a mere 3.5% of that would give us a home support of 4,000. Transport wise the Randolph would good for road links and theres's a railway station at Thornton and continued rumblings of a 2nd Kirkcaldy station between Dysart and Sinclairtown. Like I say though a new stadium will never happen though unless one of us wins big on the Euro lottery.
  6. If the rumour mill's to be believed Smith's not interested in Craig Easton's opinion or in his charges, he'll be delighted to see him leave so he can get another "yes" man in like Cuthbert.
  7. As long as Dumbarton can overcome Alloa tomorrow, then next season other than the 3 day hike to Stranraer there isn't an away fixture very much more than an hours travelling from Kirkcaldy. That'll be handy for those that are still planning on going next season.
  8. Crane's not good enough for Hib's. **** him! Not good enough for us either then, let him go to Livvi see if we care. Take Sean Mackie back on loan for a season instead.
  9. Need some big specimens to escape this league. Buchanan, Vaughan and others of similar stature won’t be enough.
  10. Tends to happen when you've no fulltime experienced groundsman and the pitch doesn't get watered or rolled.
  11. 7up! Potentially Alloa, Airdrie, East Fife, Forfar, Montrose, Stenny and us all on artificial grass.
  12. What an absolute clusterfuck. Keeping BS probably isn’t ideally what the bod wanted either but it’s obviously been deemed a sacrifice worth making to keep ft football. On a plus note (if there is one) at least if he retains the bulk of the defence we should be reasonably ok at the back if he can sign a real keeper and cruicially someone shows them how to defend set pieces. Up front we could be ok with some of what we have if he can sign someone to give them ammunition. And thereby lays the crux of the issue he needs a new midfield and ffs someone buy him a book with variations of tactics. If he resigns all of Roberson, Herron, Barr and Matthews then I’ll be watching the YM next season. A mass clearout mightn’t be the answer, but a good pruning is needed for sure.
  13. I hear you but by the end of the season (long before that with some) most teams had Smith and his Rovers set up well sussed. I wont mention your lot but pt teams like Arbroath and Alloa had the better of us in the 2nd half of the season and Mr Smith simply hadn’t a clue how to get the better of them. There in lays the worry amongst us.
  14. If I was an opposition fan I’d be pishing myself laughing too, but hang on as inept and feckless as we undoubtedly are we still took maximum points of the mighty Mentil Milan, so perhaps you aren’t best placed to crow.
  15. Ladies and Gentlemen the board of RRFC would just like to say GIRFUY.
  16. Negative, As a springer owner myself I am well aquainted with the breed. Lucie is neither a Springer nor a Sprocker and I can also tell a Focker when I see one.
  17. I'll have a couple of quid on the next news emanating being something like: "As a result of last nights board meeting Mr Sinton has been installed as Chairman, with Mrs Sinton and Mr Simms cocker spaniel lucy both joining the board of directors. A budget has been set for Barry Smith to sign any 10 players that he wants as long as they don't want more that 10,000 Bhat per week." "Lastly work will begin on lifting the grass at Starks Park as soon as board member Lucy Simm has finished her business on the centre circle."
  18. But were we? In the damn few games that young Rory Brian featured he was excellent, yet he was side lined for G Smith why? Because he's young and Bazza doesn't rate him and was quoted as having said "He tries to play too much football". I'm also tired of hearing from some on here about what a hero G Smith was in certain games. Why? All he did was his job (saving the ball) I'm sorry but he will live longest in my memory for the more often times he utterly failed in his job. Part of Barry Smiths remit was to use the youngsters yet he wouldn't unless he absolutely had to, I have heard it rumoured that he wants the Dev' side gone and the money for the 1st team. The man is an out and out clown if he'd blooded more young players last season they be the ones we could be using this season coming, Brian, Court, McKay, Watson and possibly one or two others could all have been challenging for 1st team starts every week.
  19. Or alternatively what would we say if: We'd scored 3 more than Alloa yesterday? We hadn't shat the bed at Arbroath......or Albion twice or indeed at Ayr? Or if last season to avoid relegation play offs we'd drawn instead of losing at Ayr or Dunfermline where dubious calls went against us? Or The goal that never was against QotS hadn't been awarded or the penalty that should have been in the same game had resulted in a win? Or if we'd been able to defend for a draw at Easter Rd instead of capitulating and losing in the 94th min. Or of we hadn't shat the bed against an awful Brechin City team in the play offs? I'd guess it'd be pretty much the same thing as I'm saying now. As Raith managers go Locke wasn't one, Hughes was a bullying imbecile and Barry Smith has all the tactical nous of a clipsheer and the charm and charisma of a woodlouse.
  20. I would not be adverse to having a mixture of part time and fulltime players next season. Keep the best of the apprentices fulltime (Brian, Watson, McKay and a few more) and sign the best pt (like Davie McGurn) players that we possibly can. Keep Craig Easton (as assistant manager perhaps?) fulltime with the youngsters and any fulltime players willing/able to train daily and bring in a manager happy to train guys 2 nights a week.
  21. You clearly mist the gist of my post. For the record I believe the board to be hugely incompetent on several levels but just to be crystal clear, the installation of a plastic pitch just about trumps them all.
  22. At least one of them is broken. I'd complain directly to John Simm and the board. Talking about spending 100 of thousands on a plastic pitch and the rest of the place is slowly falling to bits.
