Had the radio on on the car on Sunday morning and Colin Murray had an interview with the guy who was the producer for Prince's epic half time show. Said he spent the whole 12 minutes shitting himself that all the gear woukd pack up due to water getting into it.

There's a story that a producer (might be the same one) went to Prince and mentioned it's likely to rain during the show and asked if that was going to be an issue.

Prince replied by asking if they could make it rain harder....

Remarkable optimism that a guy who hasn't won a race in years and has routinely been slower than his team mate, can switch to a clownshoes outfit like Ferrari and suddenly be on the top step of the podium again.

FWIW, I think he'll get utterly embarrassed by Leclerc.

I know that this board has a huge dislike (verging on almost creepy at times) for Lewis...but the facts just don't back you up here.

2023 head to head between Lewis and George.

    • Lewis finished 3rd in the championship, George 8th
    • Lewis finished ahead of George 15 times in 2023, George only beating Lewis 7 times.
    • Tied in qualifying 11-11
    • Lewis got a pole position last season, George didn't
    • Lewis finished on the podium 6 times, George's only had 2 visits to the podium
    • Lewis best finish was 2nd (twice) while George only got to the third step (twice)
    • Lewis had 4 fastest laps compared to George's 1
    • Lewis finished in the points 20 times out of 22 races last season, George finished in the points 17 times last season.

The only area George beats Lewis is in the sprint races

    • George beat Lewis 4-2 in head to head during sprint shutout's
    • George beat Lewis 4-2 in head to head during the sprint races
    • Yet Lewis was the only Merc driver to finish on the podium in a sprint race

Lewis isn't as good as he used to be, partly down to car, partly down to natural decline as he gets older....but to suggest he was beaten by George last year just doesn't hold any weight.

Lewis is still a good driver, more than capable of winning a race (as is George/Sainz/LecLerc etc), the only issue is whether the gap has been closed enough to allow anyone else to have a solid chance of winning a race without having to rely on misfortune to fall upon the Red Bulls.

Albon I’d say. Him destroying Russell would be fun

Mercs nicking a Williams driver is a tired cliché, there's only one option.  The true GOAT

  4. Think this move is a couple years too late tbh, but wild none the less.

Edit - does this not make Lando's decision to sign/extend a long term deal with McLaren a bad idea now.

  5. Don't know if anyone caught the Daytona 24 this weekend, pretty good racing.

Strange finish though, you would have thought the important part of a 24hr race is to let the race run the full 24hrs......IMSA decided to through the chequered at 23hrs 58mins in.

Our lack of goals is alarming. We either play Brophy as our main striker or bring in a striker before the transfer window closes. Our last three home games have produced zero wins and even more concerning zero goals !

If only it was that easy, every team is looking for that 15+ goal striker, thing is.....you rarely (if ever) find them without a club in the Jan transfer window.

The bottom one with the tree isn't a bad effort to be honest. You've slowed the shutter speed down so got that smokey effect on the water. Composition is quite good too. Once you get going you'll understand how to use ND filters to really maximise the water effect. Do you shoot in an auto programme or use manual? Manual is the way to go so you'll need to understand the exposure triangle (ISO, shutter speed and aperture). Once you've got your head around that (and it's not difficult) you're well on your way. Also, always shoot in RAW and not Jpg as this will give you so much more versatility when editing your images in Lightroom or Photoshop.

For landscape I'd also recommend a full frame camera and lens although not essential when starting out. I use a 20mm prime and a 24-70mm for most of my landscape stuff. I'd also recommend a good sturdy tri-pod and a cable release. You're trying to minimise movement to get the sharpest of images.

You'll learn loads from watching YouTube videos (if you can put up with all the fecking adverts)and guys I'd recommend following are:

    1) Hendry Turner (keeps it simple and a really likeable guy)

    2) Thomas Heaton

    3) Nigel Danson

There are loads to be honest. Just Google learn landscape photography. Everyone has their own style and you'll learn loads no matter who you follow.

I started off doing wildlife and that can be frustrating so moved over to landscape which is equally frustrating. I'm now dabbling in street photography which is interesting but equally frustrating. 🫤 All very enjoyable though and every day is a school day.

I shot on manual so everything was controlled and shot RAW which is the opposite to what I do when out at the football.  Heaton is the reason why I'm giving landscapes a serious shot this year, I'll get onto the other 2 and see what I can get from them.

I think the issue I'm going to have is not so much the technical side, but more the 'talent' side, being able to identify the compositions and views I found really difficult, in fact when I was out I took images of 3 scenes....and the first one was so bad I've scrubbed it from existence already.

Landscape photography YouTubers for some reason seem to be mostly dour men from the north of England (and the occasional bubbly man from the north of England). I'd add the likes of Adam Karnacz, Ian Worth, Gary Gough, Stuart McGlennon and Mads Peter Iversen to Stevo's list of likeable people who produce impressive work, know what they're talking about and are good at putting across the basics of things like composition, settings, use of filters, editing techniques etc without being too dogmatic. You obviously know your way around a camera so it won't be information overload like it can be for many people (myself included when I started out).

One thing I'd say is not to get too hung up on emulating the images the top YouTubers produce in their videos - as well as being very good photographers they're also out and about constantly in the best locations with the best conditions. As you'll know from sports photography, getting out with your camera, experimenting and making your own mistakes is the best way to learn.

Looking forward to seeing your two prints at the end of the year!

I'll get onto the other suggestions, thanks.

I think the issue i have is I can look at a photo and see why it works....but I can't get that when I'm out in the filed (so to speak) I think it's a case that right now I'm rushing the process and don't have a checklist to work through.  I do when I cover a game or race

  9. So since I started I've shot sports, and sports only.

This year I promise I will get into landscape and will finish the year with at least 2 images I'm happy to print....the only thing is I have no idea what I'm doing. (as seen in the below pics).

Anyone have any books/YouTube Vids that they would recomend?

Slew was an athlete - he had a unique skill set but he was technically miles off it. Songo’o was alright, but again I’d have all 3 of our current centre backs before I’d have him in the team. Max Melbourne was a waste of a jersey.

If we played Morecambe tomorrow, I’d have no doubts that we’d beat them comfortably. I think every team in the Scottish Championship would too.

    ETA: Falkirk probably would too.

What In your view were the other factors?

We had just gone through another rebuild of the squad, our 16th or 17th rebuild under Adams, and he got it very.....very wrong (Just mentioning the words Balk, Celcer, Fenlon &  Dressen is enough to send shivers down the spine to anyone who had the misfortune to witness them).

Then there's the standard of play, we had just finished the previous season 7th which was pretty decent, but we started that season with straight losses (4 in total I think by the end of Aug when Derek left) in the league, with no sign of any improvements coming.

There was mentions, as always is with Derek, of losing the dressing room.  How much is open to debate, some say that the players hated playing under Derek, some say it was just a few who disliked the repetitive nature of training, some say he was just weird.....

The key factor (imo) was the sacking of George Adams, (Derek's Da) due to continued battles between McGregor and Adams snr at the boardroom level.  McGregor has stated that he had wanted to stick with Derek so I think he would have been given time to turn it around, whether he would have or not who knows.

A man with a long history of being an absolute cock behaving in just  that manner. Who would have guessed it. Utterly pathetic. I may be wrong here but was part of the issue when he previously lost his job at County not that he alienated players and fans alike by similar utterances. Either way he’s a kunt.

Yes......but also no.  First time he left it was to be a number 2 at Hibs.  The second time is a combination of factors, one of them was we sacked his old man who was director of football at the time and McGregor was a bit shocked to discover that may cause the son to resign at the same time....

However, it was also considered by some that his time was coming to an end at that point anyway.

  13. Christ, does no-one remember what the first rule of "Adams in the Press" is?  ALWAYS take everything with a huge pinch of salt.  Like the qty of salt needed to melt the iceberg that sunk the Titanic...like, more salt than is in the Dead Sea.  (In other words.....the same amount of salt that's in a standard Derek Adams post match interview)  The fact he's been here less than 2 months and has already got most of Scottish football worked up over him is quite funny (and frankly after Malky I need this entertainment...because f**k all is happening on the pitch)

Personally, there is an element of truth in what he said, epically about the poor standard at County at the moment.  The standard of football in the premiership is not great either, but going as far as saying Morecambe are 100 times better is a bit much though.

As for trying to send a message to our team as some have suggested, I think it needs to be done.  County are far too timid/soft at the moment and there is no fight in that team.  I keep thinkg back to when Loturi got chucked over the shoulder at St Johnstone and the only thing any County player did to defend him was go "But that's not fair" in a whinny voice to the ref.....rather than rush over and square up to the player who just ragdolled their teammate (f**k....starting to sound like Roy Keane here)

Red Bull and Ferrari (at least) both came out and said they’ve not made any complaint. The cult will be raging they can’t have a go at red bull about it all.

All other teams have come out with very similar (ok....the exact same) statements.....wonder what's caused the FIA to potential start a civil war with the rest of F1.

You've literally quoted me, put it in bold, then actually misquoted me.

Takes a bit of doing that 😆

Fair play, if you thought that was acceptable, I disagree. I don't care who the manager was today, for a County team to not manage a shot on goal (into the jailend too) the whole 2nd half was pretty pish.

It was more a comment on the hyperbole coming from you.....my apologises that my cynicism and sarcasm doesn't come through.

BUT you said It was the worst you've seen County play in a long time...define what a long time is.  Does that go back as far as the Hearts game or Motherwell games from last season, if so do you consider the St Johnstone game from this season to be better, and where does the 4-0 defeat by Aberdeen fit into this?

Trying to gauge how those performances could be any better than that (which I will admit was rather tepid) second half was.

Well, what are folks thoughts on County's performance in the match against Killie today?

After a bright opening 15mins where we could/should have scored. I thought that that was the worst I seen us play in a very long time, not 1 shot on goal in the whole 2nd half, against a very poor Killie team, that were there for the taking imo.

There seemed a real reluctance to commit players forward to support any attack, then the whole defence would sit far too deep and invite Killie onto them, when out of possession. Also substitutions were far too late in a match where things were clearly not working.

    Really.......REALLY.

I mean there has been some utter dug shite produced by County this season (and the end of last season) but that 45mins was the "Worst County Side EVER!!!!"

  17. 50 minutes ago, Sensible Soccer🏴 said:

The 1st half, I thought County were unlucky to not be 3 up in the opening 15mins. Laidlaw had one good save from a close range deflected shot too.

2nd half, well what can I say, eye bleedingly bad. Not one shot on goal, strikers isolated and running into corners to get a touch of the ball but no-one running into the box to support them. Easily the worst 45mins of football I've seen County play in a long time.

Adams better have a serious look at his tactics if that's how he intends to set up, terrible stuff, in a game that was there for the taking.

The second half is nowhere near as bad as you are making out, could we have done better....yes, could it have been worse....hell yeah f**k yeah it could have been worse, heck it has been worse this season (and last).  Adams has had less than a week with the team, lets give it some time before the hyperbole starts, shall we.
