When Baird signed up we had no idea where we'd finish so to offer anything other than a short deal would have been foolish. Relegated, lower crowds, reduced sponsorship but (relatively) hefty wages to maintain? Longer deals are risky for a club like ours because we can't be sure of a healthy finish. We don't need commitments hanging round our necks when we have no stability. Baird and Cardle will be replaced and we rebuild, like we all know we need to. And we will still be in business.

Robinson's interview is v good indeed. I've cursed him a few times but he was outstanding on Sunday and I hope with a settled defence we see what the QOS boys were raving about. In other news, here's hoping Dougie's shoulder injury isn't too bad or he'll be off his work...

Article on Courier website says Robinson trains with Rangers at Murray Park. I'm reading that as he doesn't train with the Rovers. Explain a lot?

I'd be happy with McMillan. Laurie's quickest turns and sharpest, best timed tackles are unfortunately behind him. A good sub and a very promising coach / manager, but with Watson out a while yet we could do a lot worse than a pretty decent centre half.

I'd have Baird back no problem. Hamilton will probably buy him.

Ref Walker and Anderson being released - my bad - both put on transfer list, but it's equally ignominious.

Would love to see Allan Preston's og at McDiarmid Park again. It was a belter. Speaking of the farmers field, I remember another very good Raith keeper, Gordon Arthur, playing a blinder there once. He was McGurnesque.
