  1. The best solution to this issue from a fans perspective would be to divide the Cowshed as it used to be. Regrettably, the nanny state we live in nowadays puts too many obstacles in the way of that.
  2. It's because you don't go to enjoy the stand or the local hostelries, you go to support your team. It's what takes us all to shitholes all over the place!
  3. It might be a dump but its our dump along with the car park next door.
  4. I have no problem with the main stand - I sit in it every home game. As for building the new stand, I only repeat what our stadium director said.
  5. Morton supporters trust held an open meeting last night at which we had our community engagement manager Tom Elliot (recently ex Falkirk), Warren Hawke who is masterminding our youth set up, Allan Moore, club director Crawford Rae and Neil Doncaster. One of the questions was regarding Cappielow and we are assured that we will see the new stand going up at the wee Dublin end for away supports either in the next couple of years or immediately should we win promotion. There was a lot of interesting stuff came for football fans generally not just Morton fans.
  6. Yep! Nothing to worry about at all. Just the seven did you say?
  7. I think most Morton fans are feeling a bit better about the coming season than they did a couple of weeks ago. We gave St Johnstone a decent run for their money yesterday and could maybe have done better with a bit of luck in front of goal. The concern most of us have is whether the team can score goals and lot rests on the we Belgian guy coming good but the rest of the team is looking pretty solid if we sign Imrie. McKee looks about as good a replacement for Tidser as we were going to get and the defence with the Slovaks there looks solid. Gaston is going to have a struggle to keep the gloves from our new French keeper who looks a real find also.
  8. Decent player, dodgy knees (recurring tendonitis). When fit he is easily at least lower half SPL standard
  9. I think he was on amateur terms so there is no compensation. Part of the move relates to his connection with the previous head of youth at Cappielow who now has no connection with the club and he apparently persuaded him to move.
  10. I think you have to realise that, no matter what you say or how sensible it is, VT always has to have the last word. Its a strange combination of his ego and personal insecurities! He is right though that Morton overall are higher up the all time rankings in Scottish football than Queens although clearly each team has had periods of superiority over the other.
  11. Has it been bad for you really? You have benefitted from a year of far more money and towards the end of the season, had a squad that looked better. You are now back in the first with much the same squad with some enhancements and a parachute payment. You will likely skoosh the league this season, make a profit probably and go up far better equipped to stay up. Its not all been bad news has it? If similar happened to us, fair enough we have to put up with a season of being gubbed but we will also have the chance to earn a bit and we will get relegated into a league with Rangers in it the following season with maybe a chance of emulating Dundee and doing at least enough to get into the play offs. Take the long term view and it would not necessarily be a bad thing!
  12. Annan will get the best from if they look to use his ability to hold the ball up and slip in a runner. He made most of Campbell's goals in the first part of last season before Campbell got injured.
  13. He was only offered double in the sense that he got a two year deal from Raith where Morton were only offering one. Otherwise the money was comparable and that was what the player himself said at the time. Don't know if thats a more reliable source than yours??
  14. Well the directors and supporters group have done one thing right. Bryan Jackson is Scotland's most experienced and successful football club administrator and if he can't save it, it can't be done!
  15. There's a lot more to come on this situation. Masterton's other companies have now incurred a bad debt of circa £8.5m as there is absolutely no chance of any substantial recovery from DAFC. I would reckon that the whole house of cards is likely to come tumbling down now hence the reason for his reluctance up to now to put the club in administration. Best prospect is that a new owner acquires both the club and the ground for a realistic figure (what's the market in second hand football stadia?).
  16. See today's Herald http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/dunfermline-pursuing-last-resort-option-of-administration.20584164
  17. And what I have said is why is that the case and who advised it was. The accountant on the steering group is a tax specialist, not an insolvency practitioner and his firm does not have that speciality so where is the review by an IP? Such advice could be there but nobody is saying that and I still don't get what the differences are between Dundee and Dunfermline. Both clubs have the ground separate from the club and both are essentially without much by way assets! You could have it right but bland statements from people who don't have the expertise don't convince me on their own.
  18. I am not trying to second guess information they might have but equally nobody has explained why the normal last resort escape route is not open to Dunfermline, I have not said its in the pipeline, only that it might be and pointed out that statements like " it can't go straight into administration" are not correct. It all sounds to me like HMRC will be paid off between now and 5.00 Monday. What happens to the other debts is less clear.
  19. I don't know where JL is getting his info from but as soon as a petition for administration is lodged in court, it halts any other proceedings including liquidation at least until the court has considered the petition. There is a fair amount of work in putting together a petition but who knows whether that has been ongoing.I know JL has his heart in the right place but I wonder if he has the skills to be heading up this rescue?
  20. The eight days includes the day of the advert so, my mistake, the deadline is Tuesday which is why I guess they reckon it has to be paid by Monday. I think the money will be found or moves made to appoint an administrator. If its the latter, I would think the application to court will already be in. If not they are cutting it very fine!
  21. Forgot about Easter. Ok it will likely be Tuesday 2nd PS, I will be surprised if they don't go for administration before the deadline whatever it is. The court date will be specified on the service documents.
  22. Todays Edinburgh Gazette http://www.edinburgh-gazette.co.uk/issues/27225/pages/682 That gives theoretically until next Wednesday to sort it out but in practical terms probably until 1 April as most courts deal with insolvency on a Monday.
  23. Actually, I take the opposite view! From am insolvency practitioner's point of view the whole "football debt" thing makes it harder to rescue clubs, not the other way round. I can see that there is an argument that the SFA/League feel the need to protect themselves but if say Dunfermline cannot find an investor willing to pick up the debts due to Raith, Falkirk, Cowdenbeath and others and the authorities therefore prevent the club from rejoining the league then the football debt will be lost anyway. Putting aside the whole the thing regarding cheating re having players they can't afford, the facts are that Dunfermline are a big club and they bring more to Scottish football than the likes of Cove Rangers. They are big enough with a big enough support to re-establish themselves as at least a break even club. Repeat offenders maybe need a different approach, I accept.
  24. I come from a position that all creditors should be treated equally if there is insufficient money to pay in full. That's the essential premise of insolvency law and should be especially true where there is a newco situation.
