I’m afraid it was the other way around Beachcomber. Rovers had the 5th best defence in the league and played the entire season without a recognised striker. Charlie Reilly was the guy scoring for fun but for his goals the season would have been over by Christmas. Rovers finished the season on an agonising 39 points with a -1 GD.

Fair enough but they are certainly not giving as much away as they did earlier in the season.

Do you know what  I  want next season?

Excitement . This forum to be buzzing with excitement. , disappointment, but hope! Last few years post Young - it’s been  so bad. I am not revisiting Young( right or wrong) but we beat Dundee Utd , Thistle, Hearts and most importantly oor neighbours next door under him .

I yearn to see an Agnew, a Meggat , a Long, a Davidson, A  Dowds etc- all signed  by Young.

The great news the Campbells know  a player ( signed  Tonks at Arbroath  when everyone else gave up and he repaid them)- in the Campbells we  trust- exciting times  next year - just can’t wait til we all argue again…..

    .

Agreed. We have wasted a whole season after Greig re-signed all of the same duds. We need a complete clear out.

Good riddance we changed our manager and stayed up a few weeks ago and missing out on the play offs, just goes to show I will be wanting summer come now and next Saturday is last game of the season.

Congratulations to Clyde who won today, but as for our players they aren't good enough and shows why we've been like this all season and dick will know who's good enough to stay and who's going.

Totally agree 9 games unbeaten then 3 defeats in  a row, sums up our season. We  need  a  fresh start.

  4. Last week we were missing Austin, Easton  & Lyon. The  club didn't  give any indication  about the  last two, you would assume it  was minor injury. Schiavone went of injured  and Walls returned from injury. Difficult  to pick a line up, Dick & Co. may change things anyway, but i would go with :

                                       -Fleming-

                 -Docherty-Blaney-Easton-Newton-

                                  -Millar-McManus-

                     -Lyon-       -Trouten-    -Walls-

                                       -Shepherd-

Would be good  to see Austin return to the bench.

Every player you've mentioned there is either from Edinburgh (Watson, McNulty), the surrounding areas (Booth) or have roots in the city (Craigen). You can add Danny Denholm to that too. McNulty is also playing for his father-in-law.

Fair enough I can see why at a certain age travelling is unattractive.

  6. Clyde are playing us at a good time as we  have hit a poor patch after going 9 games unbeaten. I would be worried if I was a Stranraer or Bonnyrigg fan.

From a Fife point of view hopefully Dick can motivate the group but I suspect some players know they won't be around next season. I read that Fash is back in training would be great if he made the bench.

Their following is what you'd expect for a team newly promoted to the 'big' leagues and who share a city with 3 other senior clubs.

That lack of a strong following is evened out by their community work/ support though. That's the point.

East Fife not far ahead of them.

My point wasn't intended to turn into a crowd w**k, I just find it hard to understand how Spartans can attract the calibre of players they do on the crowds they Have.

Maybe you didn't know that East Fife Community Football Club is one of the biggest in Scotland.

  8. So previously mentioned we have Fash, Docherty, Healy & Hambrook. I can  see Hambrook's conract being cancelled.

I would offer deals to Fleming, Trouten, Walls.  Trouten  is on 11 league goals and is fit enough for another go at League  2.

As for the rest while i like  Murdoch, Millar,  McManus and Scotty we need a fresh start, what we've had for the last 2 seasons isn't working. In  my opinion Newton isn't good enough and Easton's  lack of Pace is  beginning to show.

    How come?

Spartans have strong roots in the community. Lots of Jambos and Hibess attend their games too.

McNulty, Craigen, Booth, Watson are out of reach financially of other League  2 teams.

Spartans have a lot of kids and great community club but lets not  pretend they have a  strong following.  Last home   league game  385.

Visited this with the bairns. Great to visit a wee traditional stadium albeit without the auld stand.

Quite an even game.  Good to see Spartans in play-offs.

Why ? Another club splashing the cash with an unsustainable finance model, like we've not seen much of those lately.
