Seems like everyone who does not support rangers wants to:

Punish rangers for admin

Then punish rangers again for EBTs

Then punish rangers again for non-payment of PAYE

Then punish rangers again for newco

Then punish rangers again for tainted titles

Then punish rangers again for going to court

The clubs all want to take rangers money & the sky money but punish rangers again. Then the half wit bigot ex celtic director who almost took Celtic to the wall wants to take rangers money & the sky money but also to take titles off rangers. Then the half wit Thick paddy wants to demote rangers & think Scottish football would have a good sellable product for sky. No wonder the thick paddies were one of the first euro defaulters to get even more euro handouts to save paddy land going bust

Lots of punishments for lots of transgressions. Other fans feel free to add to the list.

Are you joking? I'm sure he'll get handsomely rewarded for his efforts before crossing back over the border with a nice wedge

He has a £2m wage bill coming at the end of the month and no other income, his investor list is getting shorter and nothing will be concrete for a few weeks. if he can get to he start of the season with mccoist in charge then he will be ok but that is £4m of working capital away.

The daily record and "ally walking away" Sir Walter and his merry band of Rangers men willing to put up the £5.5 + handling fees for Green to bugger off, what a disgusting charade

Green might be getting out-manoeuvred here. All the press and fans group are going to be Walter mad, if the season ticket money might not come in meaning that that the first effective boycott is of their own team. Green is getting a very raw deal here, he put up the money and got the only workable deal done.

Would the SFA membership be the same as granting of the 'football licence' which has been mentioned recently. As I heard that the SPL would consider letting Newco play in the SPL without a licence. A complete farce of that was to ever happen as I myself could gather 22 blokes off the street and form my own non-licenced team to compete against them!

I'm not sure about this but I think club licensing was brought in as the SFA have been extending licences to more and more clubs, the Scottish cup this year might need a prelim round because of all the new eligible clubs.

SFA membership is granted in perpetuity meaning that these smaller clubs wouldn't have any real scrutiny without club licences to make sure they are keeping up standards, I don't think it was imagined it would be a barrier to higher up teams. The SPL decided that clubs should need an licence to participate. Rangers haven't met the basic credentials of submitting accounts. Maybe HibeeJibee can elaborate but I don't think you need a licence to retain membership, it just means your clubs status will come under review.

Cheers. The underlined appears to be the make or break for newco. As posted previously I'd like the fans to voice discontent at the SPL vote but on closer inspection the SFA exercising 'expulsion' could be the ace up our sleeve.

Well in essence the SFA membership is the football club. All Green has is a stadium and some other bits and bobs.

Hypothetically a billionaire could come along right now and pay off all the debts of the oldco in full and would then own the football club

6. 1339705756' post='6336952']

I was thinking the same that it would probably be the Oldco that votes since H&D still appear to be running things to a degree. What's confusing me is that I thought Oldco had already died and therefore could not vote.

Oldco haven't died yet. They are in the same legal position as they were yesterday. In administration. The only difference is that they have sold their stadium, training ground and car park. The only assets they have left are SFA membership and SPL share and those are non-sellable and non-transferable without consent.

i disagree.

if whyte had truly been playing his own game he would (i) never have been sold the club by murray (ii) never have got the ticketus money.

mccoll was not part of the blue knights. why was that? because he is the only one who has the cash to sort this in a legit manner so he couldn't be visible until the dirty work was done.

The Whyte-Murray deal was mutually beneficial. I think Craig Whyte thought he was smarter than the authorities and could get past all this tax mess with his ticketus deal still intact. Only an obscure difference between scots and English law saw them turfed out.

I actually. Don't think Green will sell, too good a deal and many millions to be made.

Edit: f u apple

It gets madder:

1. BREAKING NEWS
2. News from the Rangers media conference at Ibrox.
3. Charles Green has issued a formal offer to Walter Smith to become chairman of The Rangers Fooball Club Board. He says if Walter wants that position he'll appoint him at 09:00 BST on Friday morning.
4. He wants Ally McCoist to be the manager 100% although he hasn't spoken to him about it.
5. He won't sell his shares to Walter Smith's consortuim. He only has a small share.
6. Imran Amed (non-executive director), said that as well as the £5.5m, the cost incurred are up to about £10m. Other investors would be looking for a multiple of that if they were to sell their shares.
7. Green described newspaper speculation about him getting rid of McCoist as "rubbish".
8. "I don't stab people in the back I do it in the chest," he said.
9. Green has invited Walter Smith's consortium to come with them and take the club forward.

Not mad at all, I posted it a few pages back.

I'm sure Green wants Walter on board for credibility and to stop the sniping from Leggo, MacMillan and the rest. Walter will bring everyone in the Rangers Family together.

I'm also sure he would welcome any funds as an investment into his group

9. 1339692385' post='6336034']

walter's group gets the club, stadium and training ground debt free. how is that poor planning?

to believe in the 'official' version of events so far you have to assume that whyte believed he could not pay all that tax yet still emerge with control of the club post admin. far fetched imo.

Even if this was Walter's move all along to buy out any newco to avoid criticism and be a hero it still isn't a conspiracy.

For the plan to work all you needed was a CVA to fail and a newco to form, which was talked about for a while. People have been waiting on the BTC result since the new year, it was a certainty Rangers would eventually go into Admin even when Whyte took over (the non payment of tax is testament to that)

A group thinking ahead ( which obviously wasn't the case since Donald Park was part of the Blue Knights) still isn't a conspiracy. I don't think Craig Whyte was an agent for anyone but himself and Charles Green seems to be on the level too.

10. 1339691788' post='6335982']

it's common sense.

rich, reputable business men don't want to get their hands dirty so shysters like whyte and green are used as front men.

do you think it is coincidence that this group has suddenly sprung up today right after the newco is formed?

Just because this is the way it happened doesn't mean it is a conspiracy.

If Walter has been able to attract funds to buy out Green because the newco is already formed is probably because it is more palatable to investors, definitely not a conspiracy proof.

With all the shit that happened during admin this must be worst planned conspiracy going.

Was just going to post this - surely BDO would see that they could make more for the creditors by selling to Smith&Co rather than Green.

New flash BDO don't give a f**k about the asset sales. There will be no money after they investigate thoroughly. This will be a long and forensic investigation into how Rangers avoided taxation. If they can prove it was deliberate and if there is any recourse legally against directors etc.

If all HMRC wanted was a few more pence in its pocket they would have got it in a CVA. this is now about getting people not money. D&P estimated £1m for liquidation, expect all available funds to be used to find the dirt on Whyte, Murray et al.

12. Why does Walter not just push his consortiums money in with Green's? I'm sure Charlie will make him chairman of he football board, why waste £6m paying off Green and co when he has openly said he welcomes investment. Seems stupid to me.

Is Green so objectionable, he s a football guy with clear business savvy since he just bested Paul Murray, Brian Kennedy and a whole load of others to get Rangers on the cheap.

Right now Green needs some goodwill to get season ticket money rolling in and Walter would help that. I'm struggling o see why there needs to be a buyout if no one is really that bothered about having majority control of the club.

We've had noise from St Johnstone (a while back), Killie and Hearts which some construe as yes-minded. We've had noise from Hibs and Dundee Utd which some construe as no-minded. We've had several clubs making general noises about hearing their fans views or discussing it with fan groups.

I don't think anyone's said anything categorical placing them on either side. Quite unsurprisingly.

Based on what's been said, I don't think Aberdeen are a definite 'No' any more than I think Killie are a definte 'Yes', basically. That's all I've suggested.

I don't think any chairman will declare for one side or another before the vote, all tha statements coming out follow the same pattern. Decisions must be based on sporting integrity and we will consult our fans...

The fans are definitely for killing Rangers but Sporting Integrity is a loose term that can be twisted to suit whatever decision comes to mind. If this decision comes down to pure economics then Motherwell are probably in the best position to say Yes to a newco since our season ticket sales are well up and any negativity about Rangers is washed away many times over with our European games. Of course that only effects this season. If it looks like mass walking away happens at other clubs then maybe long term it will be financially prudent to boot Rangers out. ..I am sure SPL chairmen will be desperate to know what value a TV deal has without the Old Firm since this is the only real sticking point.

14. 1339677096' post='6335141']

8-10weeks! so what the actual F*** happens with the newco vote etc? im confused.

SFA must step in now and suspend them. then next year they can re-apply as a new co.

This isn't some timeline paradox where current rangers and new buns can't exist at the same time. Once The Club is extricated from the company the process of moving SPL shares and SFA membership begins. If the SPL agree no a newco then Rangers will be ready intime for the new season. The oldco will limp on in admin getting ready for liquidation and a massive financial investigation.

The newco in the SPL is looking less likely now with clubs issuing statements rather than keeping quiet. I'm sure all the chairmen are pissed that it has come to a vote after being assured a CVA was workable. It should be noted though that no one, not even Rod Petrie has cam out and said that they are definitely voting No.

There is going to be negotiations and if the chairmen do a deal it will involve Rangers forfeiting prize mone and points deductions for multiple seasons. If this happens and with Rangers unable to qualify for Europe it means Rangers have nothing to play for except avoiding relegation.

Didn't Bosman blow that away completely?

No. An ordinary employee can give notice and walk away from a contract of employment, a footballer can't do that unless they are covered by the Webster ruling and even that was a complicated matter.

Bosman dealt with the problem of clubs retaining registrations after contracts ended. UEFA convinced the European court that football was unlike any other job so needed special dispensation.

16. 1339670016' post='6334648']

Don't be ridiculous:

1. The players could walk away for free under TUPE

2. If they don't and you are not in SPL then the club will HAVE to get rid of them. Who in their right mind would pay millions in a fire sale?

I'm not sure if anyone knows the status of a footballer under TUPE regulations, they have a unique position in European employment law so they might not be able to walk out. This is genuinely new territory so the SPFA and Green may have to go to court get this settled.
