  1. "Xxxxxx Xxxxx is getting bored with things Facebook....". within 2 hours, has posted a check-in, 2 more status updates, & updated both her cover photo and profile picture.
  2. Bought a car from them 4 years ago in Gorgie - part of the deal negotiated with them was that they would clear the finance on the car we were trading in, including the monthly payment that fell due at the end of the month, a fortnight away. About 6 weeks later, we start getting legal chaseups from the finance company, as, yes, they had received finds from AC, but not including the monthly payment as above. Despite the deal having been witnessed by me, Mrs Ranter and my brother-in-law, AC denied it, and indeed the salesman we dealt with "no longer worked there" conveniently. We ended up coughing up to the finance company rather than having a bad debt against our name, as we were looking to move house and didn;t want to complicate the mortgage application process. But, as we thought it could be a one-off, we went back to AC in Grangemouth a year ago. When the temperature got cold (minus figures), we got a funny knocking noise from the front wheel, which seemed to disappear after a while, presumable once the engine warmed up and warmed whatever was knocking, which was very convenient as every time we drove Larbert-Grangemouth, the noise was away by the time we got there. We left the car with them overnight a couple of times, but they could never "hear any knocking noises". Eventually Spring came and temperatures rose, so we were advised to wait till this Autumn/Winter and assures they would look at it then. We had a coldish morning this week, there was our friendly noise back. Duly we contacted AC, to be told "we only fix issues that are within 6 months of purchase" and they refused to touch it, despite us actually having waited all this time at their advice. Horrible, horrible company, we won;t be fooled a third time. And, they can be premier-league efficient when they want to be - leave an example of bad service on their Facebook page, it gets deleted and you get a nasty PM within 20 minutes.
  3. There's a whole FOUR comments about it here http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/184746-person-of-interest/ I've stuck with it, and quite enjoying it. Mind you, it's the only thing I watch all week. Roll on Homeland next Sunday, and Game of Thrones whenever it returns.
  4. Brilliant, well done. I haven't run a step since the Glasgow HM, think I scunnered myself training for it. I'm still not even jealous when I see runners out, which is getting worrying.
  5. Echo previous mentions for Seattle, brilliant city. Santa Monica also worth a visit if you're looking to incorporate some chilling time into your trip.
  6. Before any court case starts, the judge knows what the range of possible punishments are, should the defendant be found guilty. That, however, doesn't mean that the defendant WILL be found guilty. Judge doesn't wait for a guilty verdict before then hurriedly searching out what sentence he can pass. Identical to this scenario here.
  7. I haven't run a single step since crossing the finish line exactly a week ago.....
  8. on BBC2 last night, you'll maybe track it down on iPlayer. 40 minute show, but first 35 minutes is about the 'Elite' athletes. Pffft to Elite, show us the plodders!
  9. QP strip wearer made the highlights package last night - think it was you Kenzie, though difficult to say as no-one was gubbing you at the time. Towards the end of the show, a quick shot of runners in Pollok Park.
  10. www.marathon-photos.com That's the official photos up. Buggers have disabled the right-click option, unlike last year. Parental Guidance Advisory if you input 15124.
  11. http://www.chipresults.co.uk/?event=2012GSRHalfMarathon I had a similar problem last night, but it's working perfectly this morning.
  12. I forgot to add the most important stat - by the time Cancer Research reclaim the GiftAid, they'll be better off by £895, thanks to the generosity of my friends, family and colleagues. That helped keep me going through the race.
  13. sorry - don't have enough greenies to give to those who did well today, which appears to be just about everyone. I did the Half in 1:58:08, which I'm happy with for my first and possibly last HM. My left achilles is screaming at me right now. How do I know it's possibly my last? I said to myself during mile 7 "if you'd been in the 10k, you'd be finished by now". I was 4046th apparently, quite chuffed with that for a Cat45 dude. I loved some of today, was neither up nor down about a chunk of it, and downright hated some other bits. Hated - Miles 4 & 5, that big long straight road before turning into Bellahouston, straight into the wind. The start of mile 8, the long drag uphill at the start of Pollok Park. Loved - the fact that I managed to pace the first couple of miles this year, so was able to actually enjoy the spectacle of running across Kingston Bridge, rather than trying to keep my lungs down like I did in last year's 10k. And, who'd've thought so many Scottish lassies had such nice arses? One outstanding display after another for the duration.. All the rest I was neither up or down about all the rest, the longer I was through the distance, the more I can't remember much about anything except keeping the rhythm going and pushing for under 2 hours. I had a good laugh with a guy (typing this knowing it's probably a "had to be there moment") just a Charing Cross - I'd been way out left, trying to pass the throng a bit, when the cones suddenly stopped being cones, and became cones with tape tied along the top. Had to hurdle to get back into the pack, which solicited a "well done big man" from the guy behind me. Lastly a question for anyone more experienced than myself - I noticed there was a magnetic reader at 10k and 15k (maybe at 5k too and I missed it) - do those splits get made available to everyone, or is it just your finish time?
  14. 2 hours is my target time, I'll be very happy to be anywhere under that. I've got £580 in the bag for Cancer Research, so my main focus is earning that, but beating target time too would be smashin'. Echo DD's thoughts, good luck all, and I hope we all enjoy it.
  15. I notice there's a 4th one still up for validation, while I was ignoring the latest spawn.
  16. Did you get the white one or the blue one? Not that it really matters, they're both pretty crap. Interesting that a running event sends a t-shirt that's impractical for running in. Though not entirely, I used my last years one in the winter over a long sleeved top on cold days, as I have very few light-coloured tops, to wear on murky days or in the dark. They're waaaay to heavy to wear in even half-decent temperatures though.
  17. Ta. I'm glad I'm not in the white start group, I somehow ended up in there last year at the 10k, and did the first 2k in (for me) an insane pace of just under 9 minutes. While I got a PB, I was blowing air out my arse by the time I was up on Kingston Bridge, and never felt like I stopped the rest of the way round. If I'm in a group that (in theory) starts slower, I should be able to pace myself ok. PS I spoke to my neighbour Gordon Mitchell, and he convinced me that the wishy-washy response I got from the Vics last year was wrong, so he's convinced me to give it a try. I told him I'd be along after the HM. You still going, and more importantly, enjoying it?
  18. ‎13.17 miles in 1:54:50 tonight. Last big slog before the half marathon, just 2 or 3 easy jogs before then. The BELIEF is there. plus, thanks to whoever it was that gave the jelly babies tip. I took one of those mini-bags with me, scoffed them at the 7 mile mark, and it made a difference. That, and the fact that it isn't boiling hot.
  19. Got my pack in for Glasgow HM yesterday too. #15124, blue/green/turquoise/whatever starter.
  20. just looked again at my run for last night - towards the end I did a loop round near my house, as I had a wee bit left in the tank and it adds an extra mile. One corner I can easily identify from the map had me at 307 ft 1st time, and 335 ft the 2nd time. Hope Endomondo's timing and distance is more accurate.
