  1. Thanks for the advice on sair legs - will take on board.

Anyway my time was given as 52:22 which I was surprised at. Even more so when it said that two women had finished in front of me (including a woman my dad knows who actually finished after me) when I spent the last half km chasing down some older bloke.

When I queried this, apparently I've been given a 1 minute time penalty for stepping off a narrow pavement for ten seconds to overtake some people. Now, I don't know who gave Hitler a stopwatch and a clipboard, but doesn't that seem a bit on the harsh side?

I'm counting it as 51:22 anyway, which is only 1:02 slower than a pan flat 10k I did at Bishopbriggs 6 weeks ago so I'm happy with that.

10 secs off the pavement? Heinous crime. better watch out, you might get banned from the British Olympic team too.

  2. Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound, Murray said: "I've been talking to Brian every day for the last three months. We have built up a good relationship.

"I respected his decision to bid on his own but it was very clear that he was very much a kindred spirit in terms of wanting to help the club

"He also has a lot of experience in owning sporting clubs and I think that experience plus his business acumen is a great combination.

"That combination with the rest of the guys is a powerful cocktail."

So they've been cooking this up since 2-3 weeks before the admin happened? And still they can't get a cohesive plan together?

  3. Apologies if mentioned - too many pages to catch up on.

Keevins asked on Scoreboard what he thought of the Record's back page with the 3 silhouettes of the panel, and how it might incite eejits.

*irony alert for the following response*

Keevins replied "I'm not on here representing the Daily Record, I'm on here as a free-thinking individual with an opinion of my own"

The caller should have asked what his free-thinking individual personal opinion of the back page was.

  4. re these Proddy and Kafflick breakaway leagues.

We at Dumbarton FC are beginning to feel like the fat kid at PE that gets left right to the end of team selection, with both team captains shrugging and shuffling their feet, hoping the other will pick us before they have to. Or trying to bargain with "I'll take the wee specky AND the guy with the permalimp, if you take DFC".

PLeeeeeeeeeeaase let us in, we've got a big f*ckoff castle right next to the ground, surely that counts for something?

  5. over a million views on this thread, thought they would have been dead and burried by now

after the threats to the lifes of the people on the panel who rightly gave Rangers there punishment, we can only hope this club will be dead by 2 million views

I logged on at roughly 7.50, and it was 600 short of the million, now, an hour later, it's 800+ over. 1500 views an hour, at 8am? jeezo.

  6. Given that admin by statue can last a year and can be extended by application to the courts then there really isn't anything out of the ordinary.

The administrators have decided that cashflow allows them to trade the company whilst negotiating a sale, happens all the time in real business.

One thing the admins positively cannot (by law) is trade at a loss so someone is funding it or the bank account is emptying fast.

No wonder things are hardly moving!

  7. awesome episode last night, very unexpected twist at the end (well for a gullible fool like me anyway).

    And a no-nudity episode too! huh.gif

Roll on next week, I don't do looking ahead on t'internet.

  8. The debt to the bank was transferred to Whyte's company (it may be possible for that debt to be challenged, I don't know, but that's what happened). The resulting debt to Whyte's company was supposed to be waived unless there was an insolvency event. But of course there has been an insolvency event - which I suspect didn't come as a shock to Whyte. We also owe Ticketus - the figure given in the administrators' report is £26,700,000. Again, there might be a challenge to that debt but it stands for the moment at least. If you think something funny has gone on you'll need to ask Whyte.

Thanks for taking the time to try to answer something that's probably been answered 20 squillion posts ago and I've forgotten.

I thought £18mill of the Ticketus money was used to pay the bank, but the debt was actually transferred to a Whyte company instead. Where did the Ticketus money go then? Or is that the obvious question that I've seen asked before that no-one's been able to answer?

  9. Cersei had something of a pleasing the audience side to her in this episode. Scares the shit of littlefinger and gives that we inbred a slap. Glorious, though it's the only time in the show that she'll ever be likable.

what about when she gets her kit off?

  10. Was good, made me feel a bit more well-disposed towards the Olympics which I'd previously been pretty dismissive of.

Security getting into the Olympic park is going to be a nightmare though. It took us an hour to get from Stratford International station to inside the barriers, and there would only have been c12,000 people. Imagine what it will be like with probably nearer 200,000 across all the venues, changing over from afternoons to evenings as well.

Isn't that what these events are all about though? 'Dry runs' to check procedures and efficiencies? Hopefully it'll be better come the event itself.

even if it isn't, it's still better then some radical madskull detonating a rucksack in amongst everybody.

  11. Did the Olympic Park run yesterday. The stadium and the other buildings (esp the velodrome) are amazing, although the bulk of the run was on service roads so it felt like running on a nearly-finished building site in the main.

The track in the stadium is HUGE, and the stadium itself is ok from the seats but incredible from the track!

Time was 42:48, which is was reasonably pleased with for 5 miles, given the 1st mile was very congested and took me 9:49.

(bear in mind my fastest 10k to date is 57mins, although that was last October).

    Next up, Balfron 10k.

    must've been awesome. Quite jealous.

  12. In Tyneside they have neglected the nominees that have won a gold medal, ran every great north run, been part of a sporting organisation for over 40 years, or even been a pillar of the commuity for people that are normally drunk, daughter of a person who claimed over £50K in fraudulent benefits.

take it that's a person they chose? Strange, as I've just had to sit on the news for over 3 months, while LOCOG carried out the "necessary security and clearance checks" to try and avoid negative stories like that.

  13. So we now know Boghead ranter is a goody two shoes :P

What did you do to get nominated and selected?

for 15 years work coaching basketball the underpriveleged kids of Dumbarton, then a further 8 or 9 years coaching basketball in Grangemouth when I moved through here, and for the last couple of years the charity work I've done between running and making a twat of myself in Movember.
