  1. Rubbish. The greed and opportunism of other clubs have corrupted Scottish football.

The current dreadful situation isn't due to Ranegrs going out of business. That happened to Gretna before them and was easily handled.

It's due to SPL clubs, including Celtic, who will lose millions immediately from their budget should Rangers not be in the SPL, and even more should they not be in Div One, attempting to gerrymander the election of the new club.

Doncaster and Regan don't live in a bubble. They are the paid representatives of the clubs and do their bidding. Hibee Jibee has made this abundently clear.

Doncaster is doing the dirty work people like Peter Lawwell want done, but are too cowardly to do themselves. Celtic's silence on the entire affair speaks volumes. Only complete and utter fools believe Celtic's board haven't been working flat out behind the scenes to smooth the way for Green's Newco.

Spot on. The spl fans on here who think their clubs have shown integrity by voting Rangers out of the spl are deluding themselves. It is their clubs who have caused this. And now the whole sorry mess lands at the door of the sfl clubs who have nothing to do with it. I don't know how today's vote will go but I don't want to see any sanctimonious spl fans coming on here blaming the sfl if it doesnt go the way they want it to.

To be honest, the only people coming out of this entire farce with any credibility are the fans, of clubs at all levels.

It's obvious to everyone bar the most blinkered that (an as yet undefined) amount of SPL clubs are behind the current state of affairs being presented to the SFL clubs. If that is not the case, why have none taken their mouthpiece, sorry arsepiece, Doncaster to task over it? A fact that many SPL fans have acknowledged.

Some (a dwindling band) SFL clubs have also shown a lack of direction.drive towards clarity also, despite plenty fans views being submitted.

And the SFA & most of the media overall? I'm not even going to go there, I can't add anything to the 1000's of posts already made.

Fans have played a huge part so far, but I think we're barely at half time. So we can't sit back in the dressing room and enjoy our oranges and think the game's won. There's a lot still to be done to secure the right result in the weeks (I maybe dread to say months) ahead.

  2. Cheers, I was also led to believe that on a matchday the Trust are responsible for most things that go on at the club.

If it is a 'Yes' vote from Sons I , and I'm pretty sure many others, will never set foot in the ground again.

You've got plenty of good guys over there, it's never too late to change your vote.

Yeah, that's nearer what the state of play is. The Trust do all the low influence/high effort & time consuming stuff, like youth development, producing and selling matchday programmes etc, while the high influence/club direction business is barely influencable (a new word by me) by the trust & their rep. There's even rumours of 'a board within a board', depending on what's to be discussed.

You're also right, there are plenty good guys around the Rock, hopefully like in the cowboy movies, good prevails in the end (especially after a mid-film event looking like the baddies are going to win).

Why are the SFA and SPL trying so hard to accomodate a team that is either a) brand new, or b) an extension of a club that has systematically shafted everyone in the game AND the public purse over the last 20 years?

When Aridrie died, they reapplied as a Newco and were told to f*ck off. When Gretna died and reapplied as a Newco, they were told to f*ck off. These are PRECEDENTS, Regan and Cockwomble!!!!

See, I'm now beginning to wonder if this is their strategy - If they went straight to 'we want Sevco in D3 rather than out the game altogether', ie the vote options were a) D3 or b) out, there's a fair chance that they wouldn't even get that voted through. However, if they fly the kite that they are at the moment, then the D3 option suddenly seems a far more palatable option, therefore it gets voted for, and not in the league at all gets forgotten about, therefore they get what was wanted in the first place. Could this be the reason why the option being put flies so much in the face of majority opinion?

    From the article

Ross Caven, President of Queen's Park FC has written to all SFL clubs urging support for league reconstruction with a blueprint of one league comprising four divisions. He adds, however, that there should be "one club, one share, one vote" and a revision of the financial distribution in the new set-up. Totally correct[

Controversially, Caven also says the proposed introduction of the pyramid structure for bringing new clubs into the league should be scrapped, as there is "no sense" in expansion while the Scottish game is in trouble. Totally correct.

We are all Ross Craven biggrin.gif

except the guy called Ross Caven, obviously tongue.gif

  3. Cheers for that, it's what I thought. I'd say the Sons fans have been well and truly duped (now there's a word).

The most important fact of all hidden from the fans - Why on earth was that ? I sure as hell bet they were scared to reveal that for fear that the fans would reject 'newco' altogether.

What a play by Mr Lawrie & co - ply the fans with the fear factor of lost revenue and threat of SPL 2 elimination for Dumbarton and you get the result you want. An absolute disgrace.

Do these guys not know the long-term damage that it will do to Dumbarton F.C. to be involved in this stitch-up. They must surely have discussed it prior to the EGM.and decided to go down the scare factor route.

This is now the time for your Trust to stand up - they more or less run the club anyway- please stand up and be counted for the long-term good of Dumbarton Football Club and for the good of Scottish Football.

You can either go with the bad guys or go with the good guys.

    Your choice.

    not quite.

Our Trust has a rep on the board, and fund most (all?) of the club's youth development initiatives. We probably have more influence at the club than quite a lot of other clubs' fans, but to say the Trust 'more or less run the club' only starts to be accurate if you lean towards the 'less' part of your statement.

To correct an earlier post of mine, the Sons facebook page has now allowed my post, unedited. Maybe if more punters add comments the message might start to get through?

  4. Really enjoy your blog ( the bits i understand biggrin.gif ) but it has been very interesting to see the inner workings of what has been said. This particular one really shows, despite H&D trying to claim otherwise, HMRC has kept control of this situation from the outset which has maybe led to the many delays we have seen over the piece.

It will be interesting to see what comes of the Green vs Whyte share agreement. Unless it is on paper in a water tight agreement i suspect green may have lost his £2.

    a 200% loss?

  5. Does anyone else have trouble with dogs(and i do mean the four legged variety) when running,or is it just me.I dread the moment i spot a dog while running as i know what's going to happen, firstly the dog will have spotted me long before i see it,as we get nearer the dog is completely focused on me,the owner of the dog is oblivious to what's happening, now, i could back down and cross the road but i aint backing down,so as we pass the dog has a lunge at me to the astonishment of the owner who tugs the dog back with the lead,i breath a sigh of relief and carry on.This doesn't happen all the time of course, but it happens enough for me to be wary of dogs while running.Any one else have dog trouble?

just the once, a stupid mutt lunged at me, while the fat bint with it looked shocked that her 'wittle puppy dog' could do such a thing.

It's hard to do, but when you're approaching a dog, try not to stare at it, or if you can, not even at it's owner. Dogs see direct eye contact as an aggressive action, which will get them on the defensive. Coupled with you running towards their pack leader (assuming the walker has trained the dog to a good enough extent that it sees itself as NOT the pack leader), it will be looking to ward you off. If you can, just look at the ground as you approach, and if possible if the pavement allows, make it obvious you're going round the owner rather than straight towards them.

  6. Just received my stuff for the Torch Relay.

Looks like I've got the last leg of the day in Falkirk - I run part of the Grangemouth Road and finish up at the Falkirk Stadium.

The uniform is actually quite a good fit too, which is surprising, considering you couldn't get the made to your exact size, you just had to pick from a list from S to XXXXL or something like that.

The next 2 weeks of training will consist of really slow 1/4 mile runs (well, I have to string it out) while carrying a burning stick.

  7. A euphemism I used to see for something that was extremely difficult, nigh on impossible, is "like following Queen at Live Aid" (one for older P&B-ers.).

I think I'll now update that to "like trying to stay up to date with The Big Rangers Administration Thread on Pie & Bovril".

Suck on this one, Iceland is, tec tonically, both in North America and in Europe.

I saw a program once that educated me that everything Northwest of Loch Ness in Scotland is actually part of North America, as the rock composition is the same, and entirely different from the South East side of the loch and beyond.

    Anyhoo, are they deid yet?

  8. Now I couldn't care if anyone spots me when I'm out running. I've even had a couple of guys shout "keep going son" or something similar while out running so its not all bad. I've also had a group of youngsters start running behind us was like that scene in Forrest Gump.

The only shouts I get are when I'm doing Movember - my mouser comes in really thick, really quick.

I get the joy of doing my runs with the Larbert nederati howling '118' at me, in that nasal tone that only thick, half-drunk neds can muster. laugh.gif

  9. I'm looking to take up running but I'm far to self conscious to do it.

I was in my local athletic club till about 15, then spent nearly 30 years involved in basketball, and have gone back to running now that I don't ball any more, to try to delay the onset of middle-age spread.

As a teenager I was horrifically self conscious, I used to hate the non-track season when you got sent out for road runs, so I know what you mean.

Now however, it's a lot easier, though my first few times out saw me regress mentally to that 80's haired teenager's hangups. Not now though. I have myself of the mindset that yes, my running style probably isn't going to mimic any gazelles, and I'm sure there are people who drive past me in all weathers scoffing at me. However, I take solace in the fact that most of those drivers are probably overweight, unfit, low-immune system social inadequates, whose opinion of me doesn't matter a flying f**k.

Once you've been out a few times the self-consciousness fades and is replaced by pride in the improvements you see in yourself. And it's an area where I felt an iPod helped me. Immerse yourself in your favourite tunes, and you soon don't notice anyone else.
